Hepatoprotective Effect of Camel Thorn Polyphenols in Concanavalin A-Induced Hepatitis in Mice

Objective:To explore the prophylactic and therapeutic effects of Alhagi maurorum ethanolic extract(AME)in concanavalin A(Con A)-induced hepatitis(CIH)as well as possible underlying ***:Polyphenols in AME were characterized using high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).Swiss albino mice were divided into 4 *** group received intravenous phosphate-buffered saline(PBS);Con A group received 40 mg/kg intravenous Con *** group administered 300 mg/(kg·d)AME orally for 5 days before Con A *** group received intravenous Con A then administered300 mg/kg AME at 30 min and 3 h after Con A *** 24 h of Con A injection,hepatic injury,oxidative stress,and inflammatory mediators were *** examination and markers of apoptosis,inflammation,and CD4^(+)cell infiltration were also ***:HPLC analysis revealed that AME contains abundant polyphenols with pharmacological constituents,such as ellagic acid,gallic acid,ferulic acid,methylgallate,and *** alleviated Con A-induced hepatic injury,as manifested by a significant reduction in alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase(Pels of proinflammatory cytokines(tumor necrosis factor-α,interferon-γ,and interleukin-6)and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)activity were reduced(Peliorated necrotic and inflammatory lesions induced by Con A(Pell hepatic infiltration(Peliorative effects in CIH mice

Efficacy of Some Antibiotics in Curing Resistant <i>Escherichia coli</i>Infection

There is growing interest in re-evaluation of older antibiotics with the wide spread of pathogen resistance, especially gram negative bacteria, which impair treatment of some infections. In contrast various studies have reported that some antibiotics have efficacy in clearing resistant bacterial infections. On account of that it was interesting to evaluate the efficacy of erythromycin, chloramphenicol and/or tenoxicam in curing and/or relieving wound infection of highly resistant Escherichia coli and investigate the possible mechanisms beyond their antibacterial activity. This was achieved through evaluating highly resistant E. coli strains in vitro using agar dilution and in vivo rat models of E. coli infected wound and acute inflammation by carrageenin, where possible mechanisms were evaluated through measuring immunological mediators and histopathological examination. This study revealed that in vivo, erythromycin alone or in combination with tenoxicam significantly improved the healing of infected skin wounds with E. coli irresspective of resistancy in vitro. In addition to the improvement of immunological mediators involved in inflammatory reaction, oxidative stress and in cytokines expression as response to the bacterial infection in vivo. On the other hand chloramphenicol neither alone nor in combination with tenoxicam, achieved any significant effect. Tenoxicam didn’t show antimicrobial activity alone nor in combination with tested antibiotics in vitro, but it has shown synergestic activity in combination with tested antibiotics in vivo. Thus we concluded that immunomodulatory activity of erythromycin through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects was the possible mechanisms by which this antibiotic had healed infection with resistant E. coli in vivo, despite its resistancy to this antibiotic in vitro.

Enhanced Heap-Based Optimizer Algorithm for Solving Team Formation Problem

Team Formation(TF)is considered one of the most significant problems in computer science and *** is defined as forming the best team of experts in a social network to complete a task with least *** real-world problems,such as task assignment,vehicle routing,nurse scheduling,resource allocation,and airline crew scheduling,are based on the TF *** has been shown to be a Nondeterministic Polynomial time(NP)problem,and high-dimensional problem with several local optima that can be solved using efficient approximation *** paper proposes two improved swarm-based algorithms for solving team formation *** first algorithm,entitled Hybrid Heap-Based Optimizer with Simulated Annealing Algorithm(HBOSA),uses a single crossover operator to improve the performance of a standard heap-based optimizer(HBO)*** also employs the simulated annealing(SA)approach to improve model convergence and avoid local minima *** second algorithm is the Chaotic Heap-based Optimizer Algorithm(CHBO).CHBO aids in the discovery of new solutions in the search space by directing particles to different regions of the search *** HBO’s optimization process,a logistic chaotic map is *** performance of the two proposed algorithms(HBOSA)and(CHBO)is evaluated using thirteen benchmark functions and tested in solving the TF problem with varying number of experts and ***,the proposed algorithms were compared to well-known optimization algorithms such as the Heap-Based Optimizer(HBO),Developed Simulated Annealing(DSA),Particle SwarmOptimization(PSO),GreyWolfOptimization(GWO),and Genetic Algorithm(GA).Finally,the proposed algorithms were applied to a real-world benchmark dataset known as the Internet Movie Database(IMDB).The simulation results revealed that the proposed algorithms outperformed the compared algorithms in terms of efficiency and performance,with fast convergence to the global minimum.
