In this work an attempt was made to minimize the NOx emission of a crude rice bran oil methyl ester (CRBME) blend with less sacrifice on smoke density and brake thermal efficiency. Three factors namely fuel injection timing, percentage EGR and fuel injection pressure were chosen as the influencing factors for the set objective. Experiments were designed by employing design of experiments method and Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array was used to test the engine. MRSN ratio was calculated for the response variables and the optimum combination level of factors was obtained simultaneously using Taguchi’s parametric design. ANOVA was employed to analyze the variance of MRSN and the most influencing factor for the set objective was taken from the ANOVA table. Obtained combination was confirmed experimentally and significant improvement was observed in the response variables.

Additive manufacturing(AM)is gaining traction in the manufacturing industry for the fabrication of components with complex geometries using a variety of *** laser melting(SLM)is a common AM technique that is based on powder-bed fusion(PBF)to process metals;however,it is currently focused only on the fabrication of macroscale and mesoscale *** paper reviews the state of the art of the SLM of metallic materials at the microscale *** comparison with the direct writing techniques that are commonly used for micro AM,micro SLM is attractive due to a number of factors,including a faster cycle time,process simplicity,and material versatility.A comprehensive evaluation of various research works and commercial systems for the fabrication of microscale parts using SLM and selective laser sintering(SLS)is *** addition to identifying existing issues with SLM at the microscale,which include powder recoating,laser optics,and powder particle size,this paper details potential future directions.A detailed review of existing recoating methods in powder-bed techniques is conducted,along with a description of emerging efforts to implement dry powder dispensing methods in the AM domain.A number of secondary finishing techniques for AM components are reviewed,with a focus on implementation for microscale features and integration with micro SLM systems.

Objectives:To evaluate the protective effct of probiotic diets on haemotobiochemical and histopathology changes of Mystus montanus against Aeromonas hydrophila(***).Methods:Three experimental groups of fish were fed with a diet supplemented with Lactobacillus acidophilus(***)(Sporolac),comprising about 0.1 g,0.2 g and 0.3 *** group of fish were fed without *** 60 d of feeding the fishes in experimental group were injected with 1 mL of *** and were supplemented with probiotic *** control group fishes were injected with 1 mL of physiological saline solution ***:Blood samples were collected for haematobiochemical analysis,while samples of the liver,and gills were examined for path histology after 7 d of *** result showed that the growth parameters,weight gain,specific growth rate were better in infected group maintained on the probiotic diet compared to those in control *** haematology parameters,erythrocyte sedimentation rate,red blood cell,white blood cell,total serum protein,Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),Cl,glucose,cholesterol and total immunoglobulin concentration and the pathohistology of the liver,gills were better in the infected fish maintained on the probiotic diet than those in the group fed the control ***:The result of the present study showed that *** is useful as a probiotic agent in Mystus montanus against ***.

Brown planthopper （Nilaparvata lugens Stal） is one of the most damaging pests causing hopper burn in rice, and thereby reducing the productivity and also the quality of the product. The effective management strategy to control this pest is the identification and transfer of desirable genes to local rice cultivars. The most important approach for developing resistant cultivars is the identification of markers, which can help in marker-assisted selection of more durable resistant genotype. The susceptible parent IR50 and the resistant parent Ptb33, and their F2 populations were used in bulked segregant analysis for identification of resistant genes with random amplified polymorphic DNA marker （RAPD） primers. The primers OPC7 and OPAG14 showed both dominant and susceptible specific banding pattern so called co-dominant markers. Moreover, OPC7697 and OPAG14680 showed resistant specific bands and thus being in coupling phase, whereas OPC7846 and OPAG14650 showed susceptible specific genotypic bands in bulked segregant analysis. Therefore, the coupling phase markers, OPC7697 and OPAG14680, are considered to be more useful in marker-assisted selection of rice genotypes in crop improvement.

In India most part receives 4 - 7 kWh of solar radiation per square meter per day with 200 - 250 sunny days in a year. Tamilnadu state also receives the highest annual radiation in India. In this paper, the grid connected photovoltaic plant has a peak power of 80 KWp supplies electricity requirement of GRT IET campus during day time (7 hrs) and reduces load demand and generates useful data for future implementation of such PV plant projects in the Tamilnadu region. Photovoltaic plant was installed in April 2015, monitored during 6 months, and the performance ratio and the various power losses (power electronics, temperature, soiling, internal, network, grid availability and interconnection) were calculated. The PV plant supplied 64,182.86 KWh to the grid from April to September 2015, ranging from 11,510.900 to 10,200.9 kWh. The final yield ranged from 143.886 (h/d) to 127.51 (y/d), reference yield ranged from 201.6 (h/d) to 155.31 (h/d) and performance ratio ranged from 71.3% to 82.1%, for a duration of six months, it had given a performance ratio of 83.82%, system efficiency was 4.16% and the capacity factor of GRT IET Campus for six months was 18.26%. Payback period in years = 9 years 4 months, energy saving per year = 204,400 KWh, cost reduction per year = 1,737,400, Indian rupee = 26,197.30 USD and total CO2 reductions per year = 102,200 tons CO2/year.

Hand gesture recognition system is considered as a way for more intuitive and proficient human computer interaction tool. The range of applications includes virtual prototyping, sign language analysis and medical training. In this paper, an efficient Indian Sign Language Recognition System (ISLR) is proposed for deaf and dump people using hand gesture images. The proposed ISLR system is considered as a pattern recognition technique that has two important modules: feature extraction and classification. The joint use of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) based feature extraction and nearest neighbour classifier is used to recognize the sign language. The experimental results show that the proposed hand gesture recognition system achieves maximum 99.23% classification accuracy while using cosine distance classifier.

Reduced Model Based Control of Two Link Flexible Space Robot

Model based control schemes use the inverse dynamics of the robot arm to produce the main torque component necessary for trajectory tracking. For model-based controller one is required to know the model parameters accurately. This is a very difficult task especially if the manipulator is flexible. So a reduced model based controller has been developed, which requires only the information of space robot base velocity and link parameters. The flexible link is modeled as Euler Bernoulli beam. To simplify the analysis we have considered Jacobian of rigid manipulator. Bond graph modeling is used to model the dynamics of the system and to devise the control strategy. The scheme has been verified using simulation for two links flexible space manipulator.

Automatic labeling of the action held by the players in a live-in sports video is the main motivation of this paper. In this paper, we proposed a fuzzy-based action recognition system from a basketball sports image. This paper deals with the intellectual sports event action recognition from a live video stream. It required an intelligent system which would automatically and semantically label the action in the videos through machine understandability concept. The machine knowledge can be feed through the domain ontology of particular sports event. The major required component for this kind of system is an efficient image analysis component and automation action labelling component. The image is labelled using Type-2 Fuzzy set concept.

Enhancing the Efficiency of Voice Controlled Wheelchairs Using NAM for Recognizing Partial Speech in Tamil

In this paper, we have presented an effective method for recognizing partial speech with the help of Non Audible Murmur (NAM) microphone which is robust against noise. NAM is a kind of soft murmur that is so weak that even people nearby the speaker cannot hear it. We can recognize this NAM from the mastoid of humans. It can be detected only with the help of a special type of microphone termed as NAM microphone. We can use this approach for impaired people who can hear sound but can speak only partial words (semi-mute) or incomplete words. We can record and recognize partial speech using NAM microphone. This approach can be used to solve problems for paralysed people who use voice controlled wheelchair which helps them to move around without the help of others. The present voice controlled wheelchair systems can recognize only fully spoken words and can’t recognise words spoken by semi-mute or partially speech impaired people. Further it uses normal microphone which hassevere degradation and external noise influence when used for recognizing partial speech inputs from impaired people. To overcome this problem, we can use NAM microphone along with Tamil Speech Recognition Engine (TSRE) to improve the accuracy of the results. The proposed method was designed and implemented in a wheelchair like model using Arduino microcontroller kit. Experimental results have shown that 80% accuracy can be obtained in this method and also proved that recognizing partially spoken words using NAM microphone was much efficient compared to the normal microphone.
