Effect of Disinfectants on Elastic Modulus, Flexural Strength and Color Stability of Denture Base Resins

Objective: Infection control protocols dictate the disinfection of dentures. There are no products available which are designed for the specific use of disinfecting dentures. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of chemical disinfectants on elastic modulus, flexural strength and color stability of denture base resins. Methods: 256 specimens from four acrylic denture base resins were manufactured. Two cold-curing denture base resins: PalaXpress (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), Futura Gen (Schuetz Dental, Roßbach, Germany) and two heat-curing denture base resins: Paladon 65 (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), FuturAcryl 2000 (Schuetz Dental, Roßbach, Germany) were used. Three chemical disinfecting agents were tested: Impresept, D050 Instru-Gen, Stammopur DR. Specimens were stored in distilled water and in chemical disinfecting agents. They were divided randomly into groups. E-Modulus and flexural strength were measured using the three-point bending test. Color changes (ΔE) were determined spectrophotometrically. Results: The disinfection agents showed no significant influence on the E-modulus compared to distilled water (Acrylic vs. distilled water from (Futura Gen) 2688.80 ± 230.78 vs. 2766.60 ± 91.22 MPa to (PalaXpress) 3004.20 ± 26.40 vs. 2851.00 ± 95.23 MPa). Flexural strength after storage in distilled water and disinfection did not differ significantly (Acrylic vs. distilled water from (Paladon65) 27.28 ± 1.30 vs. 28.42 ± 0.84 N/mm2, (p > 0.05) to (PalaXpress) 30.88 ± 0.25 vs. 29.68 ± 0.79 N/mm2, p < 0.001). Disinfection caused a significant color change with Impresept of Paladon 65 (p ≤ 0.001), FuturaAcryl 2000 with Stammopur DR and D 050 Instru-Gen (p ≤ 0.001). Conclusions: The investigated disinfection agents did not influence elastic modulus and flexural strength of denture base resins negatively. ΔE-values were in a range of 1 to 2. Thus, the detected color changes may be marginal. Clinical relevance: Single use disinfections

Legacy-based threat detection systems have not been able to keep up with the exponential growth in scope, frequency, and effect of cybersecurity threats. Artificial intelligence is being used as a result to help with the issue. This paper’s primary goal is to examine how African nations are utilizing artificial intelligence to defend their infrastructure against cyberattacks. Artificial intelligence (AI) systems will make decisions that impact Africa’s future. The lack of technical expertise, the labor pool, financial resources, data limitations, uncertainty, lack of structured data, absence of government policies, ethics, user attitudes, insufficient investment in research and development, and the requirement for more adaptable and dynamic regulatory systems all pose obstacles to the adoption of AI technologies in Africa. The paper discusses how African countries are adopting artificial intelligence solutions for cybersecurity. And it shows the impact of AI to identify shadow data, monitor for abnormalities in data access and alert cyber security professionals about potential threats by anyone accessing the data or sensitive information saving valuable time in detecting and remediating issues in real-time. The study finds that 69.16% of African companies are implementing information security strategies and of these, 45% said they use technologies based on AI algorithms. This study finds that a large number of African businesses use tools that can track and analyze user behaviour in designated areas and spot anomalies, such as new users, strange IP addresses and login activity, changes to permissions on files, folders, and other resources, and the copying or erasure of massive amounts of data. Thus, we discover that just 18.18% of the target has no national cybersecurity strategy or policy. The study proposes using big data security analytics to integrate AI. Sensitive Information Security Based on Elliptic Curves

The elliptic curve cryptography algorithm represents a major advancement in the field of computer security. This innovative algorithm uses elliptic curves to encrypt and secure data, providing an exceptional level of security while optimizing the efficiency of computer resources. This study focuses on how elliptic curves cryptography helps to protect sensitive data. Text is encrypted using the elliptic curve technique because it provides great security with a smaller key on devices with limited resources, such as mobile phones. The elliptic curves cryptography of this study is better than using a 256-bit RSA key. To achieve equivalent protection by using the elliptic curves cryptography, several Python libraries such as cryptography, pycryptodome, pyQt5, secp256k1, etc. were used. These technologies are used to develop a software based on elliptic curves. If built, the software helps to encrypt and decrypt data such as a text messages and it offers the authentication for the communication.

Introduction: On the outskirts of Ndjamena, semi-industrial poultry farming and traditional poultry farming are practised informally on almost all poultry farms in Chad. This type of poultry farming is faced with real health problems attributable to a lack of monitoring of the vaccination schedule, inadequate compliance with biosecurity measures and poor application of the Ichikawa rule based on the 5 M’s. Objective: The aim of this article is to identify the microorganisms responsible for contamination of poultry farms in the study area. Method: The study was carried out from 28/04/2022 to 31/01/2023 on the basis of 300 samples taken from feed, drinking water, droppings and scrapings from poultry housing surfaces in the 30 farms that served as a framework for our research. Sampling was of the simple random type, and farms were selected on the basis of the farmers’ consent. The data were recorded on pre-established survey forms. Our study was cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective. Bacteria were isolated using the reference method NF EN ISO 6579 for Salmonella spp. and cultured on the specific medium eosin methylene blue (EMB) for Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas and Citrobacter freundii. Results: The following results emerged from this study: Escherichia coli (5.33%), Pseudomonas (1.33%), Citrobacter freundii (12%) and Salmonella paratyphi (21.68%). Conclusion: Of the 300 samples analysed, 121 (40.33%) were contaminated with pathogens. This high level of contamination is a health problem. The study shows that biosecurity is less satisfactory on the farms visited. Nevertheless, farms with a very satisfactory level of biosafety ensure food safety and variety for the population.

Background: Testicular atrophy is recurrent after orchidopexy for intra-abdominal cryptorchidism due to damage to vessels. Fowlers-Stephens and Shehata methods proposed staged orchidopexy, but are still associated to a rate of atrophy greater than 10%. Purpose: We set out to present a new technique that preserves testicular vessels. Our study is aimed at investigating testicular vitality after surgery. Patients and Method: We reviewed files of boys who underwent orchidopexy for 2 years in our department. Those who have been operated for intra-abdominal cryptorchidism with the new technique and aged between 6 months and 14 years old were included in our study. We excluded boys who have been operated before 6 months and after 14 years old and those who did not respect their follow-up plane. Ultrasound (US) outcomes were used to measure testicular volumes and blood flow at each postoperative visit. The Sample population was divided into group A and group B representing testes that were followed respectively for 12 and 24 months. Results: 22 boys with 25 testes were included in our study;11 testes in group A and 14 testes in group B. In each group, we noted a significant difference of UDT volumes from the third month after surgery with respective P-values 0.05. There was no statistical difference between UDT and contra lateral testes volumes 12 months after surgery in group A and 24 months in group B with respective P-values of 0.07 and 0.72. All volume differential indexes were Conclusion: This method offers a new perspective in performing safe orchidopexy for intra abdominal undescended testes.

Background: Elbow dislocations in pediatric patients are rare injuries. This is a therapeutic emergency because a delay in treatment can have disastrous consequences on the functional level of the upper limb. Objective: To present the management of elbow dislocation in children in cases of limited resources. Presentation of the Cases: These were 2 older male children aged 7 and 9 years old, admitted to the emergency room for painful functional impotence of the right elbow after a fall and landing on the right hand. Clinical and radiological examinations were in favor of posterior elbow dislocations. The reductions were carried out under sedation and immobilization in Jersey. According to Robert’s criteria, the functional result was excellent in both patients. Conclusion: Emergency reduction and immobilization whatever the means ensure an excellent functional prognosis even in cases of limited resources.

目的研究改良卵磷脂肉汤(MLB)方法在抗菌洗手液细菌检测中的实用性。方法采用2020年版《中国药典》(三部)药品微生物检验替代方法指导原则中定性方法验证原则,验证MLB方法在抗菌洗手液大肠菌群和溶血性链球菌检验中专属性、检测限和耐用性参数,并与GB 15979—2002《一次性使用卫生用品卫生标准》方法的检测结果进行等效性比较。结果MLB方法的专属性和耐用性良好。该方法检测抗菌洗手液中的大肠菌群和溶血性链球菌代表菌株的50%阳性标本检出限(LOD_(50))分别为1.76和17.44 cfu/g。统计分析结果显示其检测灵敏度显著优于标准方法(P<0.05)。结论MLB方法与标准方法具有等效性,可应用于抗(抑)菌洗手液细菌检测。
