Forecasting river flow is crucial for optimal planning,management,and sustainability using freshwater *** machine learning(ML)approaches have been enhanced to improve streamflow *** techniques have been viewed as a viable method for enhancing the accuracy of univariate streamflow estimation when compared to standalone *** researchers have also emphasised using hybrid models to improve forecast ***,this paper conducts an updated literature review of applications of hybrid models in estimating streamflow over the last five years,summarising data preprocessing,univariate machine learning modelling strategy,advantages and disadvantages of standalone ML techniques,hybrid models,and performance *** study focuses on two types of hybrid models:parameter optimisation-based hybrid models(OBH)and hybridisation of parameter optimisation-based and preprocessing-based hybridmodels(HOPH).Overall,this research supports the idea thatmeta-heuristic approaches precisely improveML ***’s also one of the first efforts to comprehensively examine the efficiency of various meta-heuristic approaches(classified into four primary classes)hybridised with ML *** study revealed that previous research applied swarm,evolutionary,physics,and hybrid metaheuristics with 77%,61%,12%,and 12%,***,there is still room for improving OBH and HOPH models by examining different data pre-processing techniques and metaheuristic algorithms.

Stochastic computing(SC)has a substantial amount of study on application-specific integrated circuit(ASIC)design for artificial intelligence(AI)edge computing,especially the convolutional neural network(CNN)***,SC has little to no optimization on field-programmable gate array(FPGA).Scaling up the ASIC logic without FPGA-oriented designs is inefficient,while aggregating thousands of bitstreams is still challenging in the conventional *** research has reinvented several FPGA-efficient 8-bit SC CNN computing architectures,i.e.,SC multiplexer multiply-accumulate,multiply-accumulate function generator,and binary rectified linear unit,and successfully scaled and implemented a fully parallel CNN model on Kintex7 *** proposed SC hardware only compromises 0.14%accuracy compared to binary computing on the handwriting Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology classification task and achieved at least 99.72%energy saving per image feedforward and 31?more data throughput than modern *** to SC,early decision termination pushed the performance baseline exponentially with minimum accuracy loss,making SC CNN extremely lucrative for AI edge computing but limited to classification *** SC's inherent noise heavily penalizes CNN regression performance,rendering SC unsuitable for regression tasks.

The storage capacity of reservoirs is gradually reduced due to sediment accumulation that causes changes in the area-storage capacity（ASC） *** these curves and predicting their future change is an important issue for planners,designers and operators of *** empirical and semiempirical approaches have been suggested for establishing and predicting the future changes for these *** this study four empirical and semi-empirical methods were evaluated and three of them were modified to be used for the prediction of changes in the ASC curves due to sedimentation,based on the existing sedimentation survey data for 11 reservoirs in the *** evaluation,these approaches were reviewed and used to determine sedimentation depth and establishing the ASC curves for the Mosul dam reservoir（MDR）,which is the biggest hydraulic structure on the River Tigris in northern *** started operating in 1986 with a storage capacity of 11.11 km;and a water surface area 380 km2 at normal operation stage（330 m a.s.l.）.The results obtained from these methods were evaluated using observed bathymetric survey data that had been collected in 2011 after 25 years of the operation of the *** evaluation results showed three methods had presented more accurate results for estimating water depth or sedimentation depth at dam site with percentage error about 1.06-3.30%.Whilst for establishing ASC curves,one method presented good agreement result with survey ***,ASC and sedimentation depths at dam site of MDR for periods 50,75,100 and 125 years were estimated using the modified approaches and the area reduction *** results of the modified methods provided reasonable agreement when compared with the area reduction method proposed by the *** of Reclamation and the agreement became better with an increase in time period.

Iraqi marshes are located within the southern part of Iraq where the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers join. There are three main marshes (Hammar Central and Hawizeh). They used to cover an area 15,000 - 20,000 square kilometers. The government of Iraq started to dry the marshes since 1990 for military reasons. Oil companies started to work in that area, and they occupied about 25% of that area. After 2003, the government changed, and they started to restore the remainder 75% of marshes. To achieve this goal, they require about 13 billion cubic kilometers of water (BCM). The problem was the scarcity of water due to the building of dams in riparian countries and climate change. It is believed that if the government follows a prudent water resources strategy, then it will be possible to restore the marshes.

Background： Although significant progress has been made to map chromatin structure at unprecedented resolution and scales, we are short of tools that enable the intuitive visualization and navigation along the three-dimensional （3D） structure of chromatins. The available tools people have so far are generally script-based or present basic features that do not easily enable the integration of genomic data along with 3D chromatin structure, hence, many scientists find themselves in the obligation to hack tools designed for other purposes such as tools for protein structure study. Methods： We present HiC-3DViewer, a new browser-based interactive tool designed to provide an intuitive environment for investigators to facilitate the 3D exploratory analysis of Hi-C data along with many useful annotation functionalities. Among the key features of HiC-3DViewer relevant to chromatin conformation studies, the most important one is the 1D-to-2D-to-3D mapping, to highlight genomic regions of interest interactively. This feature enables investigators to explore their data at different levels/angels. Additionally, investigators can superpose different genomic signals （such as ChIP-Seq, SNP） on the top of the 3D structure. Results： As a proof of principle we applied HiC-3DViewer to investigate the quality of Hi-C data and to show the spatial binding of GATA1 and GATA2 along the genome. Conclusions： As a user-friendly tool, HiC-3DViewer enables the visualization of inter/intra-chromatin interactions and gives users the flexibility to customize the look-and-feel of the 3D structure with a simple click. HiC-3DViewer is implemented in Javascript and Python, and is freely available at： http：//***/member/nadhir/ HiC3DViewer/. One of the important geotechnical parameters required for designing of the civil engineering structure is the compressibility of the *** this study,the main purpose is to develop a novel hybrid Machine Learning(ML)model(ANFIS-DE),which used Differential Evolution(DE)algorithm to optimize the predictive capability of Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS),for estimating soil Compression coefficient(Cc)from other geotechnical parameters namelyWater Content,Void Ratio,SpecificGravity,Liquid Limit,Plastic Limit,Clay content and Depth of Soil *** of the predictive capability of the novel model was carried out using statistical indices:Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Error(MAE),and Correlation Coefficient(R).In addition,two popular ML models namely Reduced Error Pruning Trees(REPTree)and Decision Stump(Dstump)were used for *** showed that the performance of the novel model ANFIS-DE is the best(R=0.825,MAE=0.064 and RMSE=0.094)in comparison to other models such as REPTree(R=0.7802,MAE=0.068 and RMSE=0.0988)andDstump(R=0.7325,MAE=0.0785 and RMSE=0.1036).Therefore,the ANFIS-DE model can be used as a promising tool for the correct and quick estimation of the soil Cc,which can be employed in the design and construction of civil engineering structures.

The supply of fresh water is essential to life, socioeconomic development, and political stability in Middle East. Turkey, Syria and Iraq are the main riparian countries in the Tigris-Euphrates basin. Turkey is the riparian hegemon for a long time due to its structural power and dominant river position. Iraq and Syria are the lower countries in the basin and for this reason they always like to ensure the quantity of water required to satisfy their requirements. The conflict between riparian countries is due to several factors. These are: population growth rate and food security, energy security, economic and technological development, political fragmentation, international water laws, water and management availability and public awareness. There have been a number of attempts to find a common ground on water issues between the main three riparian countries since 1920 but no agreement signed yet. Present situation is very bad in Syria and Iraq where thousands of people have no access to water and farmers are leaving their land because of draught. Such situation will definitely raise tension and might lead to war. To avoid this, a mediator that has the capability to bring all countries concerned to the negotiation table is required. In addition, Syria and Iraq are to adopt prudent strategic plan based on resources development theory to ensure good water management and minimum water loses.

Iraq is one of the Middle East and North African countries (MENA region). The country is currently facing a serious water shortage problem. This problem is expected to be more severe in the future where the supply is predicted to be 43 and 17.61 Billion Cubic Meters (BCM) in 2015 and 2025 respectively while current demand is estimated to be between 66.8 and 77 BCM. It has been estimated that the Tigris and Euphrates river discharges will continue to decrease with time, and they will be completely dry by 2040. Serious, prudent and quick measures need to be taken to overcome this problem. The government should take measures to have a strategic water management vision, including regional cooperation and coordination, research and development, improving agriculture and sanitation sector as well as public awareness program. These measures are required in order to address the following topics: Strategic Water Management Vision, Regional cooperation and coordination, Irrigation and Agriculture, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Research and Development.

The recent advances in chromosome configuration capture （3C）-based series molecular methods and optical super- resolution （SR） techniques offer powerful tools to investigate three dimensional （3D） genomic structure in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell nucleus. In this review, we focus on the progress during the last decade in this exciting field. Here we at first introduce briefly genome organization at chromosome, domain and sub-domain level, respectively; then we provide a short introduction to various super-resolution microscopy techniques which can be employed to detect gcnome 3D structure. We also reviewed the progress of quantitative and visualization tools to evaluate and visualize chromatin interactions in 3D genome derived from Hi-C data. We end up with the discussion that imaging methods and 3C-based molecular methods are not mutually exclusive -- actually they arc complemental to each other and can be combined together to study 3D genome organization.
