Gastroenterologist perceptions of faecal microbiota transplantation

AIM: To explore gastroenterologist perceptions towards and experience with faecal microbiota transplantation(FMT).METHoDS: A questionnaire survey consisting of 17 questions was created to assess gastroenterologists' attitude towards and experience with FMT. This was anonymously distributed in hard copy format amongst attendees at gastroenterology meetings in Australia between october 2013 and April 2014. Basic descriptive statistical analyses were performed.RESULTS: Fifty-two clinicians participated. Twenty one percent had previously referred patients for FMT,8% more than once. Ninety percent would refer patients with Clostridium difficile infection(CDI) for FMT if easily available,37% for ulcerative colitis,13% for Crohn's disease and 6% for irritable bowel syndrome. Six percent would not refer any indication,including recurrent CDI. Eighty-six percent would enroll patients in FMT clinical trials. Thirty-seven percent considered the optimal mode of FMT administration transcolonoscopic,17% nasoduodenal,13% enema and 8% oral capsule. The greatest concerns regarding FMT were: 42% lack of evidence,12% infection risk,10% non infectious adverse effects/lack of safety data,10% aesthetic,10% lack of efficacy,4% disease exacerbation,and 2% inappropriate use; 6% had no concerns. Seventy seven percent believed there is a lack of accessibility while 52% had an interest in learning how to provide FMT. only 6% offered FMT at their institution.CoNCLUSIoN: Despite general enthusiasm,most gastroenterologists have limited experience with,or access to,FMT. The greatest concerns were lack of supportive evidence and safety issues. However a significant proportion would refer indications other than CDI for FMT despite insufficient evidence. These data provide guidance on where education and training are required.

The works on the procedure of fluorescent sensors for the detection of biological analytes are extremely momentous.Among diverse analytical approaches,fluorescence is the most eye-catching due to its high sensitivity,selectivity,rapidity,robustness,ease of measurement and non-destructive approaches.Herein,we show different fluorescent probes synthesized for estimation and detection of biological analytes(H_(2)S,So_(3)^(2-)/HSo_(3)^(-),H_(2)o_(2),HoCl,HNo,oNoo^(-)).These probes were constructed by masking the functional groups (hydroxyl and amino) of fluorophore and formation of active C=C,C=N,C=o and N=N for specific analytes.In this review we concentrate on synthesis of the probe,their photophysical properties and applications to biological studies.

Mathematical Analysis for Peristaltic Flow of Two Phase Nanofluid in a Curved Channel

This paper describes the theoretical analysis for peristaltic motion of water base nanoBuid containing distinct types of the nanoparticles like Cu,Tio_2,and Al_2o_3.Equations of nano Quid are modelled and simplified by constructing the suppositions of low Reynolds number as well as long wave length.The reduced equations are solved exactly.Solutions are represented through graphs.outcomes for the velocity,temperature,pressure rise and stream lines are analyzed graphically.The work presented here is based on the fictitious values,however some other values can be tested experimentally.

Machine Learning(ML)-based prediction and classification systems employ data and learning algorithms to forecast target values.However,improving predictive accuracy is a crucial step for informed decision-making.In the healthcare domain,data are available in the form of genetic profiles and clinical characteristics to build prediction models for complex tasks like cancer detection or diagnosis.Among ML algorithms,Artificial Neural Networks(ANNs)are considered the most suitable framework for many classification tasks.The network weights and the activation functions are the two crucial elements in the learning process of an ANN.These weights affect the prediction ability and the convergence efficiency of the network.In traditional settings,ANNs assign random weights to the inputs.This research aims to develop a learning system for reliable cancer prediction by initializing more realistic weights computed using a supervised setting instead of random weights.The proposed learning system uses hybrid and traditional machine learning techniques such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),Linear Discriminant Analysis(LDA),Random Forest(RF),k-Nearest Neighbour(kNN),and ANN to achieve better accuracy in colon and breast cancer classification.This system computes the confusion matrix-based metrics for traditional and proposed frameworks.The proposed framework attains the highest accuracy of 89.24 percent using the colon cancer dataset and 72.20 percent using the breast cancer dataset,which outperforms the other models.The results show that the proposed learning system has higher predictive accuracies than conventional classifiers for each dataset,overcoming previous research limitations.Moreover,the proposed framework is of use to predict and classify cancer patients accurately.Consequently,this will facilitate the effective management of cancer patients.

Non-Newtonian fluid model for blood flow through a tapered artery with a stenosis and variable viscosity by modeling blood as Jeffrey fluid has been studied in this paper.The Jeffrey fluid has two parameters,the relaxation time λ1 and retardation time λ2.The governing equations are simplified using the case of mild stenosis.Perturbation method is used to solve the resulting equations.The effects of non-Newtonian nature of blood on velocity profile,temperature profile,wall shear stress,shearing stress at the stenotsis throat and impedance of the artery are discussed.The results for Newtonian fluid are obtained as special case from this model.

现如今,我们依赖于连续的、不间断的电力供应,其中变压器作为电力传输和配电网络的一部分,起到了至关重要的作用;但是,有许多复杂的以及不可避免的因素会对变压器的正常运行造成影响。由于太阳的循环过程干扰了地球的磁场从而产生了地磁感应电流;地磁感应电流本质上类似于变化非常缓慢的、大部分频谱含量小于o.01Hz的直流电流,地磁感应电流的大小与感应电压的大小以及线路、变压器以及地表阻抗的大小有关。当这个类直流电流通过电力系统中接地变压器的中性点的时候,其会引起严重的甚至是致命的影响,例如设备的损坏(变压器,发电机,电容器件),严重时甚至可能引起整个电力系统的停电。电力系统中高压直流输电系统的交流/直流整流器以及地磁感应电流是类直流电流的主要来源。这种类直流电流存在于变压器驱动绕组磁芯交替的半个饱和周期内,被称为半饱和周期。这种饱和状态会干扰变压器对磁芯的整个控制过程。主要是它会仅在半个循环周期内引起电流的不对称变化而且使得电流的幅值增大,这将会导致大量的谐波电流流入电力系统,变压器的无功功率损耗将会大大增加,粤此同时,其他的保护问题也会出现。这些出现的问题本文将会利用仿真软件MATLAB/PSCAD/EMTP进行仿真分析。

Engineering electrophilic atomic Ir sites on Ceo_(2) colloidal spheres for selectivity control in hydrogenation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds

Selective hydrogenation of the carbonyl bond inα,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is rather challenging owing to the more feasible hydrogenation of ethylenic bond from both thermodynamic and kinetic aspects.Here,we demonstrate a facile emulsionbased molecule-nanoparticle self-assembly strategy for the atomic engineering of Ir species on three-dimensional Ceo_(2)spheres(Ir1@Ceo_(2)).When applied to the hydrogenation ofα,β-unsaturated aldehydes,Ir1@Ceo_(2)catalyst remarkably exhibited~100%selectivity towards unsaturated alcohols,whereas the formation of Ir nanoparticles on Ceo_(2)drastically decreased the selectivity for unsaturated alcohols.Spectroscopic studies revealed that strong metal-support interactions triggered the charge transfer from Ir to Ceo_(2),leading to the partial reduction of Ce^(4+)to Ce^(3+)along with the formation new Ir^(δ+)-o_(2)--Ce^(3+)(oV)interfaces.The electrophilic atomic Ir species at the Ir^(δ+)-o_(2)--Ce^(3+)(oV)interfaces would therefore preferentially adsorb and facilitate hydrogenation of polar C=o bond to achieve exceptional selectivity.

Effect of annealing on properties of Mg doped Zn-ferrite nanoparticles

A comparison of structural and magnetic properties of as-prepared and annealed(900 1C) Mg doped Zn ferrite nanoparticles(Zn1 xMgxFe2o4,with x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5) is presented. X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies confirmed the cubic spinel structure for both the as-prepared and annealed nanoparticles. The average crystallite size and lattice parameter were increased by annealing. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)images also showed that the average particle size increased after annealing. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) also confirmed the spinel structure for both series of nanoparticles. For both annealed and as-prepared nanoparticles, the o–Mtet.–o vibrational band shifts towards higher wave numbers with increased Mg concentration due to cationic rearrangement on the lattice sites. Magnetization studies revealed an anomalous decreasing magnetization for the annealed nanoparticles which is also ascribed to cationic rearrangement on the lattice sites after annealing. The measurement of coercivity showed a decreasing trend by annealing due to the increased nanoparticle size and better crystallinity.

Competing crystallite size and zinc concentration in silica coated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles

Silica coated(30 wt%) cobalt zinc ferrite(Co1 xZnxFe2o4, x?0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 1) nanoparticles were synthesized by using sol–gel method. Silica acts as a spacer among the nanoparticles to avoid the agglomeration. X-ray diffraction(XRD) reveals the cubic spinel ferrite structure of nanoparticles with crystallite size in the range 37–45 nm. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed the formation of spinel ferrite and Sio2. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images show that the nanoparticles are nearly spherical and non-agglomerated due to presence of non-magnetic Sio2 surface coating. All these measurements signify that the structural and magnetic properties of Co1 xZnxFe2o4 ferrite nanoparticles strongly depend on Zn concentration and nanoparticle average crystallite size in different Zn concentration regimes.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society. Synthesis and superconductivity of(Ag)x/CuTl-1223 composites

Series of(Ag)x/(Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3o10-δ) {(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223} nano-superconductor composites were synthesized with different concentrations(i.e. x ? 0 4.0 wt%) of silver(Ag) nanoparticles. Low anisotropic Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix was prepared by solid-state reaction and Ag nanoparticles were prepared by a sol–gel method separately. The required(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223 composition was obtained by the inclusion of Ag nanoparticles in Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix. Structural, morphological, compositional and superconducting transport properties of these composites were investigated in detail by x-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive x-rays(EDX)spectroscopy and four-point probe electrical resistivity(ρ) measurements. The inclusion of Ag nanoparticles enhanced the superconducting properties without affecting the tetragonal structure of the host Cu Tl-1223 matrix. The improvement in superconducting properties of(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223 composites is most likely due to enhanced inter-grains coupling and increased superconducting volume fraction after the addition of metallic Ag nanoparticles at the inter-crystallite sites in the samples. The presence of Ag nanoparticles at the grain-boundaries may increase the number of flux pinning centers, which were present in the form of weak-links in the pure Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix.
