The blood flow through a catheterized artery having a mild stenosis at the wall together with a blood clot at the centre is studied in the current *** can occur in vessels carrying blood to brain(i.e.,Carotid arteries),Renal arteries that supply blood to kidneys *** flow is refined in such vessels by application of *** have used a Newtonian viscous fluid model and also distinct shapes of stenosis,(i.e.,symmetric and non-symmetric shapes)are considered for this *** entropy generation togetherwith viscous dissipation is also taken into account for a complete description of heat transfer *** solutions are calculated for the problem subject to given“no slip conditions”.The results are discussed *** velocity quickly increases for a non-symmetric stenosis as compared to a symmetric *** the height of mild stenosis increases and the channel becomes narrow then the velocity increases in the centre but it decreases with the stenosed ***,as the height of blood clotσincreases then the velocity of blood flow reduces with the wall having clot but it remains almost same with the stenosed *** are plotted to visualize the flow *** trapping is symmetric for a symmetric stenosis shape but it changes to non-symmetric trapping when we have a non-symmetric shape of stenosis.

Growth,yield and water productivity of dry direct seeded rice and transplanted aromatic rice under different irrigation management regimes

Sustainability of traditionally cultivated rice in the rice-wheat cropping zone(RWCZ)of Pakistan is dwindling due to the high cost of production,declining water resources and escalating labour ***,farmers and researchers are compelled to find promising alternatives to traditional transplanted rice(TPR).A field study was conducted in Punjab,Pakistan,in 2017 and 2018 to explore the trade-offs between water saving and paddy yield,water productivity and economics of two aromatic rice varieties under dry direct seeded rice(DDSR)and *** experiment was comprised of three irrigation regimes on the basis of soil moisture tension(SMT)viz.,continuous flooded(>–10 kPa SMT),alternate wetting and drying(AWD)(–20 kPa SMT)and aerobic rice(–40 kPa SMT),maintained under TPR and DDSR *** aromatic rice verities:Basmati-515 and Chenab Basmati-2016 were used during both years of *** both years,DDSR produced higher yields(13–18%)and reduced the total water inputs(8–12%)in comparison to *** comparison to traditional continuous flooded(CF),AWD under DDSR reduced total water input by 27–29%and improved the leaf area index(LAI),tillering,yield(7–9%),and water productivity(44–50%).The performance of AWD with regard to water savings and increased productivity was much higher in DDSR system as compared to AWD in TPR *** of DDSR with aerobic irrigation improved water savings(49–55%)and water productivity(22–30%)at the expense of paddy yield reduction(36–39%)and spikelet *** regard to variety,the highest paddy yield(6.6 and 6.7 t ha–1)was recorded in DDSR using Chenab Basmati-2016 under AWD irrigation threshold that attributed to high tiller density and *** economic analysis showed DDSR as more beneficial rice establishment method than TPR with a high benefit-cost ratio(BCR)when the crop was irrigated with AWD irrigation *** results highlighted that with the use of short duration varieties,DDSR cultivation in conjunction wit

Comparative study of living donor kidney transplants:Right vs left

BACKGROUND Transplant teams often hesitate to use the right kidney(RK)in living donor(LD)transplants due to the complexities of anastomosing the short,thin-walled right renal veins,which can potentially lead to graft loss or graft ***,circumstances may arise where selecting the RK over the left kidney(LK)is ***,it is crucial to thoroughly examine the implications of such a choice on the overall transplant *** To compare transplant outcomes between recipients of RK and LK while examining the factors that influence these *** We retrospectively analyzed data from adult patients who received LD kidney transplants involving meticulous patient selection and surgical techniques at our center from January 2020 to December *** included all kidney donors who were over 18,fit to donate,and had undergone diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid split function and/or computed tomography based *** variables examined comprised donor and recipient demographics,and outcome measures included technical graft loss(TGL),delayed or slow graft function(SGF),and post-transplant serum creatinine(SC)*** used a logistic regression model to assess the likelihood of adverse outcomes considering the donor kidney *** Of the 250 transplants performed during the period,56(22%)were *** recipient demographics and transplant factors were comparable for the right and LKs,except that the donor warm and cold ischemia time were shorter for *** and SGF each occurred in 2%(n=1)of RKs and 0.5%(n=1)of LKs,the difference being *** complications,however,were not related to the venous *** RK(2%)developed delayed graft function after 48 hours,which was attributable to postoperative hypoxia rather than the surgical *** post-transplant SC trend and mean SC at the last follow-up were similar across both kidney *** The donor kidney side has little impact on post-transplant

Synthesis and superconductivity of（Ag）x/CuTl-1223 composites

Series of(Ag)x/(Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10-δ) {(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223} nano-superconductor composites were synthesized with different concentrations(i.e. x ? 0 4.0 wt%) of silver(Ag) nanoparticles. Low anisotropic Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix was prepared by solid-state reaction and Ag nanoparticles were prepared by a sol–gel method separately. The required(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223 composition was obtained by the inclusion of Ag nanoparticles in Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix. Structural, morphological, compositional and superconducting transport properties of these composites were investigated in detail by x-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive x-rays(EDX)spectroscopy and four-point probe electrical resistivity(ρ) measurements. The inclusion of Ag nanoparticles enhanced the superconducting properties without affecting the tetragonal structure of the host Cu Tl-1223 matrix. The improvement in superconducting properties of(Ag)x/Cu Tl-1223 composites is most likely due to enhanced inter-grains coupling and increased superconducting volume fraction after the addition of metallic Ag nanoparticles at the inter-crystallite sites in the samples. The presence of Ag nanoparticles at the grain-boundaries may increase the number of flux pinning centers, which were present in the form of weak-links in the pure Cu Tl-1223 superconducting matrix.

The magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） stagnation point flow of micropolar flu- ids towards a heated shrinking surface is analyzed. The effects of viscous dissipation and internal heat generation/absorption are taken into account. Two explicit cases, i.e., the prescribed surface temperature （PST） and the prescribed heat flux （PHF）, are discussed. The boundary layer flow and energy equations are solved by employing the homotopy analysis method. The quantities of physical interest are examined through the presenta- tion of plots/tabulated values. It is noticed that the existence of the solutions for high shrinking parameters is associated closely with the applied magnetic field.

The present work describes a facile, one-pot three component environment friendly, green synthesis of a series of 5-（4-methoxyphenyl）-7,7-dimethyl-10-phenyl-7,8-dihydro-SH-indeno[ 1,2-b]quinoline- 9,11 （6H,10H）-dione derivatives 8（a-n）. 1,3-indanedione, awl-aldehyde and enaminone was thoroughly ground in the presence of catalytic amount of p-toluene sulfonic acid （p-TSA） to give the titled compounds in good yields. All the synthesized derivatives were evaluated for their anticonvulsant activity using the maximal electroshock （MES） method with phenytoin as a standard drug along with their neurotoxicity effect. Derivatives 8b, 8e and 8k exhibited significant anticonvulsant activity （P 〈 0.001）. The neurotoxicity study clearly revealed that all the tested compounds are non-toxic at a dose of 40 mg/kg. The molecular modeling studies also predicted good binding interactions of most active molecules with the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. Therefore, it can be safely concluded that synthesized derivatives 8（a-n） would represent useful leads for further investigation in the development of a new class of anticonvulsant agents.

Competing crystallite size and zinc concentration in silica coated cobalt ferrite nanoparticles

Silica coated(30 wt%) cobalt zinc ferrite(Co1 xZnxFe2O4, x?0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 and 1) nanoparticles were synthesized by using sol–gel method. Silica acts as a spacer among the nanoparticles to avoid the agglomeration. X-ray diffraction(XRD) reveals the cubic spinel ferrite structure of nanoparticles with crystallite size in the range 37–45 nm. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy confirmed the formation of spinel ferrite and SiO2. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images show that the nanoparticles are nearly spherical and non-agglomerated due to presence of non-magnetic SiO2 surface coating. All these measurements signify that the structural and magnetic properties of Co1 xZnxFe2O4 ferrite nanoparticles strongly depend on Zn concentration and nanoparticle average crystallite size in different Zn concentration regimes.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society.
