Al-Nakheel beach is located northwest of Alexandria city,Egypt,along the mediterranean coast.During the period from 1998 to 2003,seven detached breakwaters were constructed along Al-Nakheel beach to create a sheltered area for swimming.Unfortunately,the structures amplify rip currents,shoreline accretions,and erosions.The aim of this research is to track the variations of the rip currents within the study area and show the effects of the breakwaters on the shoreline.The research is based on the hydrodynamic and morphological data of the study area and uses the Delft3D hydrodynamical model combined with other data analysis tools to serve the model input.The data include measured sea-level observations in 2013,the ERA-interim wave datasets from 2015 to 2018 and wind data in 2018,bed morphologies,and Google Earth satellite images from 2010 to 2020.The model is calibrated on the basis of the available current measurements within the nearshore zone.Results show that the shoreline eroded at an average rate of about 0.9 m/yr.moreover,pairs of vortices are formed behind the breakwaters with an average current velocity of 0.6 m/s.The predominant northwest waves induce rip currents on the leeside of the structures with velocities reaching 1.2 m/s,associated with the rip pulsation that extends offshore.The problem solution decision recommends the removal of the sand deposition on the leeside of the breakwaters by an average amount of 100000 m3/yr and the fencing of the safe area for swimming by a floating fence of 1000 m length and 65 m average width.

Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas account for the majority of spinal vascular malformations.They are typically located in the thoracolumbar region and are diagnosed in the middle-aged and elderly populations.Although spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas have been postulated to be acquired,their exact development remains uncertain.Typically,the arteriovenous shunt is situated close to the spinal nerve root,inside the dura mater,where the blood from the radiculomeningeal artery and radicular vein intermix.Throughout history,there have been multiple classification systems of spinal arteriovenous shunts since 1967.Those were mainly based on the evolution of diagnostic studies as well as the treatment of these lesions.Such classification systems have undergone significant changes over the years.Unlike intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula,spinal dural arteriovenous fistula is progressive in nature.The neurological manifestations,due to venous congestion,tend to be insidious as well as non-specific.These include sensory deficits,such as paresthesia,bilateral and/or unilateral radicular pain affecting the lower limbs,and gait disturbances.Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas can be suspected on magnetic resonance imaging/magnetic resonance angiography and confirmed by digital subtraction angiography(DSA).The management includes surgery,endovascular therapy,and in selected cases,radiotherapy.The treatment goal of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula is to halt the progression of the disease.The prognosis depends on both the duration of symptoms as well as the clinical condition prior to therapy.The present article comprehensively reviews the pathophysiology,changes in classification systems,natural history,clinical manifestations,radiological features,management,and prognosis.

In cognitive radio networks(CoR),the performance of cooperative spectrum sensing is improved by reducing the overall error rate or maximizing the detection probability.Several optimization methods are usually used to optimize the number of user-chosen for cooperation and the threshold selection.However,these methods do not take into account the effect of sample size and its effect on improving CoR performance.In general,a large sample size results in more reliable detection,but takes longer sensing time and increases complexity.Thus,the locally sensed sample size is an optimization problem.Therefore,optimizing the local sample size for each cognitive user helps to improve CoR performance.In this study,two new methods are proposed to find the optimum sample size to achieve objective-based improved(single/double)threshold energy detection,these methods are the optimum sample size N^(*)and neural networks(NN)optimization.Through the evaluation,it was found that the proposed methods outperform the traditional sample size selection in terms of the total error rate,detection probability,and throughput.

Improving Date Fruit Classification Using Cycle GAN-Generated Dataset

Dates are an important part of human nutrition.Dates are high in essential nutrients and provide a number of health benefits.Date fruits are also known to protect against a number of diseases,including cancer and heart disease.Date fruits have several sizes,colors,tastes,and values.There are a lot of challenges facing the date producers.One of the most significant challenges is the classification and sorting of dates.But there is no public dataset for date fruits,which is a major limitation in order to improve the performance of convolutional neural networks(CNN)models and avoid the overfitting problem.In this paper,an augmented date fruits dataset was developed using Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks(DCGAN)and CycleGAN approach to augment our collected date fruit datasets.This augmentation is required to address the issue of a restricted number of images in our datasets,as well as to establish a balanced dataset.There are three types of dates in our proposed dataset:Sukkari,Ajwa,and Suggai.After dataset augmentation,we train our created dataset using ResNet152V2 and CNN models to assess the classification process for our three categories in the dataset.To train these two models,we start with the original dataset.Thereafter,the models were trained using the DCGAN-generated dataset,followed by the CycleGAN-generated dataset.The resulting results demonstrated that when using the ResNet152V2model,the CycleGAN-generated dataset had the highest classification performance with 96.8%accuracy,followed by the CNN model with 94.3%accuracy.

Coronaviruses caused an outbreak pandemic disease characterized by a severe acute respiratory distress syndrome leading to the infection of more than 200 million patients and the death of more than 4 million individuals.The primary treatment is either supportive or symptomatic.Natural products have an important role in the development of various drugs.Thus,screening of natural compounds with reported antiviral activities can lead to the discovery of potential inhibitory entities against coronaviruses.In the current study,an in-silico molecular docking experiment was conducted on the effects of some of these natural antiviral phytoconstituents,(e.g.,procyanidin B2,theaflavin,quercetin,ellagic acid,caffeoylquinic acid derivatives,berginin,eudesm-1β,6α,11-triol and arbutin),on the crystal structure of SARS-CoV-2 main protease(PDB ID:6w63)using AutoDock-Vina software.many of the docked compounds revealed good binding affinity,with procyanidin B2(–8.6 Kcal/mol)and theaflavin(–8.5 Kcal/mol)showing a better or similar binding score as the ligand(–8.5 Kcal/mol).molecular dynamics simulations were carried out at 100 ns and revealed that procyanidin B2 forms a more stable complex with SARS-CoV-2 main protease than theaflavin.Procyanidin B2,theaflavin,and 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid were evaluated for toxicity by ProTox-II webserver and were non-toxic according to the predicted LD50 values and safe on different organs and pathways.Additionally,these phytoconstituents showed good ADmE properties and acceptable lipophilicity,as evaluated using WLOGP.Amongst the tested compounds,procyanidin B2 showed the highest lipophilic value.It is worth mentioning that these natural inhibitiors of SARS-CoV-2 main protease are components of green and black tea that can be used as a supporting supplement for COVID patients or as potential nuclei for further drug design and development campaigns.

HLR-Net: A Hybrid Lip-Reading model Based on Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

Lip reading is typically regarded as visually interpreting the speaker’s lip movements during the speaking.This is a task of decoding the text from the speaker’s mouth movement.This paper proposes a lip-reading model that helps deaf people and persons with hearing problems to understand a speaker by capturing a video of the speaker and inputting it into the proposed model to obtain the corresponding subtitles.Using deep learning technologies makes it easier for users to extract a large number of different features,which can then be converted to probabilities of letters to obtain accurate results.Recently proposed methods for lip reading are based on sequence-to-sequence architectures that are designed for natural machine translation and audio speech recognition.However,in this paper,a deep convolutional neural network model called the hybrid lip-reading(HLR-Net)model is developed for lip reading from a video.The proposed model includes three stages,namely,preprocessing,encoder,and decoder stages,which produce the output subtitle.The inception,gradient,and bidirectional GRU layers are used to build the encoder,and the attention,fully-connected,activation function layers are used to build the decoder,which performs the connectionist temporal classification(CTC).In comparison with the three recent models,namely,the LipNet model,the lip-reading model with cascaded attention(LCANet),and attention-CTC(A-ACA)model,on the GRID corpus dataset,the proposed HLR-Net model can achieve significant improvements,achieving the CER of 4.9%,WER of 9.7%,and Bleu score of 92%in the case of unseen speakers,and the CER of 1.4%,WER of 3.3%,and Bleu score of 99%in the case of overlapped speakers.

Drought stress has become more common in recent years as a result of climate change impacts on the production of banana crops and other fruit trees.The growth and productivity of musa spp are severely impacted by the gradual degradation of water resources and the erratic distribution pattern of annual precipitation amount.The aim of the work includes increased drought tolerance in light of water scarcity in the world as a result of the bananas’being gluttonous for water needs.This investigation was carried out from 2019 to 2020 to study the effect of potassium silicate on morphological growth and biochemical parameters of musa acuminata L under drought stress by PEG.As a result,drought stress reduced the morphological characteristics such as shoots number,shoot length,roots number,and survival percentage and biochemical characteristics such as chlorophyll a,b,carotenoids,stomatal status,and RWC.While proline content increased in the leaf of m.acuminata L.media complemented with K2SiO3(2 to 6 mm)either individually or in combination with PEG led to an improvement in all morphological and biochemical characteristics.The activities of CAT,POD,and PPO enzymes increased significantly compared to control.Furthermore,the lowest PPO,CAT,and POD activity were achieved.Additionally,K2SiO3 treatments under drought stress successfully enhanced the leaf stomatal behavior.Our results suggest that K2SiO3 can help to maintain plant integrity in the tested cultivar under drought stress.

Efficacy of postoperative short-term therapy of topical bevacizumab in recurrent pterygium surgery

Background:The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of postoperative short-term therapy(for 2 weeks)of topical bevacizumab in recurrent pterygium surgery regarding to corneal vascularization and pterygium recurrence.methods:This prospective randomized comparative study included two groups of patients with recurrent pterygium,all eyes were subjected to pterygium excision with conjunctiva auto graft,and group A(30 eyes of 30 patients)was treated with postoperative topical tobramycine and dexamethazone for 2 weeks.Group B(30 eyes of 30 patients)was treated also with postoperative topical tobramycine and dexamethazone in addition to topical bevacizumab 5 mg/mL 4 times daily for 2 weeks.Follow-up of cases up to 6 months was performed recording corneal vascularization and pterygium recurrence.Results:The results revealed that after 6 months,group A treated with postoperative tobramycine and dexamethazone reported 5 eyes of recurrence(16.7%)which not significantly(P=0.44726)(P>0.05)different from group B treated with the addition of topical bevacizumab which reported 3 eyes of recurrence(10%).But group B showed significantly different in decreasing corneal neovascularization than group A(P=0.000805)(Pm therapy of topical bevacizumab in recurrent pterygium surgery by conjunctiva auto graft showed lower recurrence rate but not statistically significant,But it reduced significantly corneal neovascularization.

Potential role of killer immunoglobulin receptor genes among individuals vaccinated against hepatitis B virus in Lebanon

AIm To explore the role of killer immunoglobulin receptor(KIR) genes in responsiveness or non-responsiveness to vaccination against hepatitis B virus.mETHODS We recruited 101 voluntary participants between march 2010 and December 2011. Sera samples from vaccinated and non-vaccinated participants were tested for the presence of anti-HBs antibodies as a measure of protection against hepatitis B, hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis B core antibody as indicators ofinfection by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. KIR gene frequencies were determined by polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS Sera samples from 99 participants were tested for the levels of anti-HBs as an indicator of protection(≥ 10 mI U/ml) following vaccination as defined by the World Health Organization international reference standard. Among the vaccinated participants, 47%(35/74) had anti-HBs titers above 100 mI U/ml, 22%(16/74) had antiHBs ranging between 10-100 mI U/ml, and 20%(15/74) had values of less than 10 mI U/ml. We report the lack of significant association between the number of vaccine dosages and the titer of antibodies among our vaccinated participants. The inhibitory KIR2Dl1, KIR2Dl4, KIR3Dl1, KIR3Dl2, and KIR3 Dl were detected in more than 95%, whereas KIR2Dl2, KIR2Dl3, KIR2Dl5(KR2Dl5A and KIR2Dl5B) were expressed in 56%, 84% and 42%(25% and 29%) of participants, respectively. The observed frequency of the activating KIR genes ranged between 35% and 55% except for KIR2DS4, detected in 95% of the study participants(40.6% 2DS4*001/002; 82.2% 2DS4*003/007). KIR2DP1 pseudogene was detected in 99% of our participants, whereas KIR3DP*001/02/04 and KIR3DP1*003 had frequencies of 17% and 100%, respectively. No association between the frequency of KIR genes and anti-HBs antibodies was detected. When we compared the frequency of KIR genes between vaccinated individuals with protective antibodies titers and those who lost their protective antibody levels, we did not detect a significant difference. 1990~2019年中国鼻咽癌疾病负担变化趋势分析及预测

目的分析1990~2019年中国鼻咽癌的疾病负担并对未来趋势进行预测。方法从全球疾病负担数据库(GBD 2019)采集鼻咽癌在中国和全球的发病、死亡、患病、伤残调整寿命年(DALY)、早死损失寿命年(YLL)、伤残损失寿命年(YLD)等数据,分析其在中国不同年龄和性别的疾病负担。采用R 4.1.0构建贝叶斯年龄-时期-队列(BAPC)模型,并对2020~2030年的发病和死亡情况进行预测。结果 2019年中国鼻咽癌的标准化发病、死亡、患病、DALY、YLL、YLD率分别为5.65/10万、1.43/10万、35.38/10万、45.60/10万、42.30/10万、3.29/10万。1990~2019年标准化发病、患病、YLD率逐年增加,标准化死亡、DALY、YLL率逐年下降。20~39岁年龄段的发病、死亡率和疾病负担明显上升,40~69岁普遍达到高峰,男性各项指标的负担在各个年龄段均高于女性。BAPC模型预测2020~2030年男女性标准化发病率呈递增趋势,标准化死亡率呈递减趋势;到2030年总发病、死亡人数分别增加22.80万人及3.39万人。结论 1990~2019年中国鼻咽癌的发病、患病率有所增加、疾病负担有所改善,但未来仍会增加,需进一步加强鼻咽癌的防治工作。
