In this paper a numerical investigation has been presented on the stall mechanism of a highly loaded single stage Low speed Fan designed for the research test facility to be installed at North Western Polytechnic University (NWPU) Xi’an, China. The results presented are for the design point, near stall and just stall operating conditions at design speed. design point studies have been found to be an indicative of stall area. Unsteady method of domain scaling has been used to compute the results at near stall and just stall conditions. It has been found that unlike the conventional tip leakage flow of the rotor, stator hub section is mainly responsible for the stall of the fan. The flow mechanism has been discussed with correlation to the design variables and previous investigations. Commercial CFd code NUMECA FINE/Turbo has been used for computations; results have been compared with results obtained from commercial CFd code ANsYs-CFX. The loss prediction of latter code is conservative than the former. The stall mechanism predicted by both codes is analogous.

Two new dimeric naphthoquinones, 5′,8′-dihydroxy-6,6′-dimethyl-7,3′-binaphthyl-1,4,1′,4′-tetraone(1; di-naphthodiospyrol d) and 5′,8′-dihydroxy-5,8-dimethoxy-6,6′-dimethyl-7,3′-binaphthyl-1,4,1′,4′-tetraone(2; di-naphthodiospyrol E), along with known naphthoquinones diospyrin(3) and 8-hydroxy diospyrin(4) were isolated from the chloroform fraction of extract of diospyros lotus roots. Their structures were elucidated by advanced spectroscopic analyses, including HsQC, HMBC, NOEsY, and J-resolved NMR experiments. The fractions and compounds 1-4 were evaluated for urease activity and phosphodiesterase-Ⅰ, carbonic anhydrase-Ⅱ and α-chymotrypsin enzyme inhibitory activities. Compounds 1 and 2 and their corresponding fractions showed significant and selective inhibitory effects on urease activities. The IC_(50) values of 1 and 2 were 260.4 ± 6.37 and 381.4 ± 4.80 μmol·L-1, respectively, using thiourea(IC_(50) = 21 ± 0.11 μmol·L^(-1)) as the standard inhibitor. This was the first report demonstrating that the naphthoquinones class showed urease inhibition.

The dependence of the magnetic properties on the particle size of recycled HddR Nd-Fe-B powders was investigated,with the aim to assess the reprocessing potential of the end-of-life scrap magnets via spark plasma sintering(sPs).The as received recycled HddR powder has coercivity(Hci)=830 kA/m and particles in the range from 30 to 700 μm(average 220 μm).After burr milling,the average particle size is reduced to 120 μm and subsequently the Hci of fine(milled) powder was 595 kA/*** plasma sintering was exploited to consolidate the nanograined HddR powders and limit the abnormal grain *** optimal sPs-ing of coarse HddR powder at 750℃for 1 min produces fully dense magnets with Hci=950±100 kA/m which further increases to 1200 kA/m via thermal treatment at 750℃for 15 *** burr milled fine HddR powder under similar sPs conditions and after thermal treatment results in Hci=940 kA/*** fine powder is further sieved down from 630 to less than 50 μm mesh size,to evaluate the possible reduction in Hci in relation to the particle *** gain in oxygen content doubles for sized particles as compared with coarser fractions(>200 μm).The XRd analysis for fractionated powder indicates an increase in Nd2O3 phase peaks in the finer(duces from 820 kA/m in the coarse particles(>200 μm) to 460 kA/m in the fine sized particles(sPs was done on each HddR powder fraction under the optimal conditions to measure the variation in Hci and *** Hci of sPs-ed coarse fraction(>200 μm) is higher than 930 kA/m and it falls abruptly to just 70 kA/m for the fine sized particles(s the Hci to>1000 kA/m only up to 100 μm sized fractions with>90% sintered *** full densification(>99%) is observed only in the coarse *** loss of coercivity and lack of sinterability in the fine sized particles(d to a very high oxygen *** implies that durin

Africa is the cradle of all human beings, and although it has been the focus of a number of genetic studies, there are many questions that remain unresolved. We have performed one of the largest and most comprehensive meta-analyses of mitochondrial dNA （mtdNA） lineages carried out in the African continent to date. We generated high-throughput mtdNA single nucleotide polymorphism （sNP） data （230 sNPs） from 2024 Africans, where more than 500 of them were additionally genotyped for the control region. These data were analyzed together with over 12,700 control region profiles collected from the literature, representing more than 300 population samples from Africa. Insights into the African homeland of humans are discussed. Phylogeographic patterns for the African continent are shown at a high phylogeographic resolution as well as at the population and regional levels. The deepest branch of the mtdNA tree, haplogroup L0, shows the highest sub-haplogroup diversity in southeast and East Africa, suggesting this region as the homeland for modem humans. several demographic estimates point to the coast as a facilitator of human migration in Africa, but the data indicate complex patterns, perhaps mirroring the effect of recent continental-scaled demographic events in re-shaping African mtdNA variability.

The conversion of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))into high-value added energy fuels and chemicals(CO,formate,C_(2)H_(4),etc.)through electrochemical reduction(eCO_(2)R)is a promising avenue to sustainable ***,low selectivity,barren activity and poor stability of the electrodes hinder the large-scale application of eCO_(2)***,we reported a copper-indium-organic-framework(CuIn-MOF)based high-performance catalyst for eCO_(2)***-trochemical measurement results reveal that CuIn-MOF exhibits high Faradaic efficiency(FE)of CO and formate(300 mV,FE_(CO)=78.6%at-0.86 V ***,FE_(HCOO^(-))=48.4%at-1.16 V ***,respectively)in a broad range of current density(20.1–88.4 mA cm^(-2))with long-term stability(6 h)for eCO_(2)R in 0.5 M KHCO_(3)electrolyte ***,through anion-regulation engineering,sO_(4)^(2-)anion precursor is more beneficial for the formic acid generation than NO_(3)^(-)anion precursor;while for sO_(4)^(2-)anion precursor,Cu plays a positive regulating role in eCO_(2)R to CO compared to ***,the high performance in a home-made eCO_(2)R reactor derives benefit from enhanced intrinsic activity and charge re-distribution can be attributed to the formation of In-doped Cu layer.

smart material actuators, with high force, large strain, and nanometer solution, enjoy wide range of employment in vibration control, robotics, micro-positioning, etc., nevertheless, the smart material actuators exhibit dynamic hysteresis. such hysteresis seriously confines the actuator’s performances, e.g., oscillation, undesirable positioning error, or even instability in severe cases. Thus, for analyzing, controlling and using the actuators efficiently and effectively, an accurate actuator hysteresis model must be *** to material deformations i.e. magnetostriction, that takes place when the material is treated under an external magnetic field, magnetostrictive actuators are being investigated progressively for several micro-/nano-positioning, ultrasonic, robotics and vibration control applications, due to their high force capacity, high energy densities. The operating principle of these actuators is based on magnetostriction, which is a highly complex phenomenon because of the interactions of mechanical, magnetic, and electrical phenomena. This complexity is further combined with the non-linear performance of the material（generally Galfenol or Terfenol-d）, in particular, the behavior of Terfenol-d, noticed at high frequencies and high drive levels. several models are present in the current literature describing *** effective employment of magnetostrictive actuators technology in control applications, defined by high dynamics, demands a precise understanding of the dynamics of these actuators with an accurate mathematical model to carry out control strategies. However, this is usually hindered by nonlinearities of the actuator system as well as complexity of the model. Background: Test-retest strength reliability of the Electronic Push/Pull dynamometer (EPPd) in the measurement of the extensor and flexor muscles on a new constructed chair. The objective of the study was to assess reliability of Electronic Push/Pull dynamometer in the measurement of the knee flexion and extension at 90° and 60° on a new constructed chair. The aims of the author: To assess reliability of Electronic Push/Pull dynamometer in the measurement of the knee flexion and extension at 90° and 60° on a new constructed chair. design: A test-retest reliability study. subjects: One hundred healthy students male and female (mean age, 21y). Methods: Maximum isometric strength of the quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups was measured using the EPPd were recorded at 60° and 90° for 3 trials on 2 occasions. Reliability was assessed with the Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), mean and standard deviation (sd) of measurements, and smallest real differences were calculated for the maximum and for the mean and work of the 3 repetitions. Results: Mean strength ranged from 50.44 kg for knee flexion to 55.76 kg for knee extension 50.44 kg to 61.98 kg at 90° hip flexion. Test-retest reliability Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) ranged from 0.85 to 0.99. ICCs for test-retest reliability ranged from 0.780 to 0.998. Conclusions: The results of the reliability study indicate that the EPPd in reliable dynamometer to use in determining lower limb muscle force production. It can be used to measure disease progression and to evaluate changes in knee extension and flexion strength at the individual patient level.
