The isolation of high-grade （i.e. high-pluripotency） human induced pluripotent stem cells （hiPSCs） is a decisive factor for enhancing the purity of hiPSC populations or differentiation efficiency. A non-invasive imaging system that can monitor microRna （miRna） expression provides a useful tool to identify and analyze specific cell populations. However, previous studies on the monitoring/isolation of hiPSCs by miRna expression have limited hiPSCs＇ differentiation system owing to long-term incubation with miRna imaging probe-nanocarriers. Therefore, we focused on monitoring high-grade hiPSCs without influencing the pluripotency of hiPSCs. We reduced nanoparticle transfection time, because hiPSCs are prone to spontaneous differentiation under external factors during incubation. The fluorescent nanoswitch （＂ON＂ with target miRna）, which can be applied for either imaging or sorting specific cells by fluorescence signals, contains an miRna imaging probe （miP） and a PeI-PeG nanoparticle （miP-P）. Consequently, this nanoswitch can sense various endogenous target miRnas within 30 min in vitro, and demonstrates strong potential for not only imaging but also sorting pluripotent hiPSCs without affecting pluripotency. Moreover, miP-P-treated hiPSCs differentiate well into endothelial cells, indicating that miP-P does not alter the pluripotency of hiPSCs. We envisage that this miRna imaging system could be valuable for identifying and sorting high-grade hiPSCs for improved practical applications.

A joint resource allocation scheme concerned with the sensor subset,power and bandwidth for range-only target tracking in multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)radar systems is *** selecting an optimal subset of sensors with the predetermined size and implementing the power allocation and bandwidth strategies among them,this algorithm can help achieving a better performance within the same resource ***,the Bayesian Cramer-Rao bound(BCRB)is derived from ***,a criterion for minimizing the BCRB at the target location among all targets tracking in a certain range is ***,the optimization problem involved with three variable vectors is formulated,which can be simplified by deriving the relationship between the optimal power allocation vector and the bandwidth allocation ***,the simplified optimization problem is solved by the cyclic minimization algorithm incorporated with the sequential parametric convex approximation(SPCA)***,the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated with simulation results.

Identifying Human promoter is the foundation for understanding gene regulation and the key point of large-scale function prediction. Although many algorithms have been proposed, they are rather complex with the performance still limited by low sensitivity and high false positives. In this paper, Gaussian Mixture Model is used to build the model of positional densities of oligonucleotides as the promoter features. Rough Set is applied for analysis the relationship of the binding sites occurence at same time and identify the human promoter sequence. Clustering algorithm which using the inverse of fuzzy likelihood function as the cluster distance is used to estimate the Gaussian Mixture Model optimal number and the parameters of sub-models. And Least Square is used to calculate the mixing proportions. The optimal solution and efficient convergence are obtained. The features for building the predict model are not perfect, so Rough Set Theory is applied for building the promoter information table finding the relationship of the motifs at upstream and downstream of promoter sequence, at the mean time, to predict human promoter sequence. The simulation results show the accuracy of the prediction model is high.

Patterns of host cell inheritance in the bacterial symbiosis of whiteflies

Whiteflies possess bacterial symbionts Candidatus Portiera aleyrodidium that are housed in specialized cells called bacteriocytes and are faithfully transmitted via the ovary to insect *** one whitefly species studied previously,Bemisia tabaci MeAMI,transmission is mediated by somatic inheritance of bacteriocytes,with a single bacteriocyte transferred to each oocyte and persisting through embryogenesis to the next ***,we investigate the mode of bacteriocyte transmission in two whiefly species,*** MeD,the sister species of MeAM1,and the phylogenetically distant species Trialeurodes *** analysis supported by microscopical studies demonstrates that *** MeD bacteriocytes are genetically different from other somatic cells and persist through embryogenesis,as for MeAMI,but *** bacteriocytes are genetically identical to other somatic cells of the insect,likely mediated by the degradation of maternal bacteriocytes in the *** two alternative modes of transmission provide a first demonstration among insect symbioses that the cellular processes underlying vertical transmission of bacterial symbionts can diversify among related host species associated with a single lineage of symbiotic bacteria.

Application of powdered activated carbon coating to fabrics in a hybrid filter to enhance mercury removal

elemental mercury(Hg0) is predominant constituent of flue gas emitted from coal-fired power plants. Adsorption has been considered the best available technology for removal of Hg0 from flue gas. However, adsorbent injection increases the amount of ash generated. In the present study, powdered activated carbon(PAC) was coated on polytetrafluoroethylene/glass fiber filters to increase Hg0 removal while concurrently reducing the amount of ash generated. The optimal PAC coating rate was determined in laboratory experiments to ensure better Hg0 removal with low pressure drop. When PAC of particle size less than 45 μm was used, and the areal density was 50 g/m2, the pressure drop remained under 30 Pa while the Hg0 removal efficiency increased to 15.8% from4.3%. The Hg0 removal efficiency also increased with decrease in filtration velocity. The optimal PAC coating rate was applied on a hybrid filter(HF), which was combined with a bag filter and an electrostatic precipitator in a single chamber. Originally designed to remove fine particulates matter, it was retrofitted to the flue gas control device for simultaneous Hg0 removal. By employing the PAC coating, the Hg removal efficiency of the HF increased to 79.79% from 66.35%. Also, a temporary reduction in Hg removal was seen but this was resolved following a cleaning cycle in which the dust layer was removed.

Sub-channel shared resource allocation for multi-user distributed MIMO-OFDM systems

Well-controlled resource allocation is crucial for promoting the performance of multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(MIMO-OFDM) systems. Recent studies have focused primarily on traditional centralized systems or distributed antenna systems(DASs), and usually assumed that one sub-carrier or sub-channel is exclusively occupied by one user. To promote system performance, we propose a sub-channel shared resource allocation algorithm for multiuser distributed MIMO-OFDM systems. each sub-channel can be shared by multiple users in the algorithm, which is different from previous algorithms. The algorithm assumes that each user communicates with only two best ports in the system. On each sub-carrier, it allocates a sub-channel in descending order, which means one sub-channel that can minimize signal to leakage plus noise ratio(SLNR) loss is deleted until the number of remaining sub-channels is equal to that of receiving antennas. If there are still sub-channels after all users are processed, these sub-channels will be allocated to users who can maximize the SLNR gain. Simulations show that compared to other algorithms, our proposed algorithm has better capacity performance and enables the system to provide service to more users under the same capacity constraints.

Performance of Weibull function as a diameter distribution model for Pinus thunbergii stands in the eastern coast of South Korea

This study was carried out to determine the performance of percentile-based Weibull diameter distribution model for Pinus thunbergii stands thriving along the eastern coast of South Korea. The parameter recovery technique was used to estimate the three parameters of the Weibull model. The analysis demonstrated satisfactory results based on the following test statistics for the principal percentile models： fit index （FI） range from 0.501（minimum diameter） to 0.932 （50th diameter percentiles） and root mean square error （RMSe） range from 0.112 （quadratic mean diameter） to 3.572 （minimum diameter）. The developed model was further evaluated by determining the mean bias （e） in trees per ha （TPH） for each diameter class, and the results showed highest over-prediction in the 20 cm, and under-prediction in the x6 cm and 24 cm diameter classes. The goodness of fit tested by Kolmogorov- Smirnov （KS） test showed no significant differences （P〉0.05） between the observed and predicted diameter distributions for almost all plots. Using site index and aboveground biomass （AGB） models developed for P. thunbergii in South Korea, a model to predict the AGB per ha for each diameter class and subsequently the total AGB of the stand was created. An application guide was also created, which will serve as a decision-support tool for forest managers in quantifying the future total AGB in P. thunbergii stands located in the eastern coast of South Korea and, subsequently, the quantification of potential carbon stocks aside from being a vital input in designing efficient management and protection strategies for these stands.

Host load prediction in cloud based on classification methods

The host load prediction problem in cloud computing has also been received much attention. To solve this problem, we have to use the historical load data to predict the future load level. Accurate prediction methods are useful for host load balance and virtual machine migration. Although cloud is likely to grids at some extent, the length of tasks are much shorter and host loads change more frequently with higher noise. The above characteristics introduce challenges for host load prediction. In this paper, based on the proposed exponentially segmented pattern and the corresponding transformation, prediction problem is transformed into the traditional classification problem, This classification problem can be solved based on the traditional methods, and features are given for training the classification model. For achieving accurate prediction, a new feature periodical coefficient is introduced and some existed classification methods are implemented. experiments on the real world dataset invalidate the efficiency of the new proposed feature, which is in the most effective combinations of features, it increases successful rate （SR） 1.33%-2.82% and decreases the mean square error （MSe） 1.37%-2.91%. And the results also show that support vector machine （SVM） method can achieve nearly the same performance as the Bayes methods and their performance is about 50% higher in successful rate and 17% better in the mean square error compared to the existed methods.

Application of Shear wave elastography and Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound in Transrectal Prostate Biopsy

Objective To explore the clinical value of ultrasound shear wave elastography(SWe)and contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CeUS)in transrectal prostate *** A total of 54 patients(average age:67.79±12.01 years)in the experimental group underwent transrectal prostate biopsy under the guidance of SWe,while 46 patients(average age:69.22±11.54 years)in the control group underwent transrectal prostate biopsy guided by *** There were a total of 451 needles,with an average of 8.35±1.67 needles per patient in the experimental group,and a total of 462 needles,with an average of 10.04±1.33 needles per patient in the control *** difference in puncture times between the two groups was statistically significant(Pere was no significant difference in the positive detection rate,sensitivity or specificity between the two groups(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference in the diagnostic accuracy between the two groups(Pe e_(mean)and e_(max)of prostate cancer were significantly higher in the experimental group than in benign prostatic hyperplasia(Pe receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)analysis showed that the area under the ROC curve(AUC)of e_(mean)was 0.752(S.e.=0.072,95%CI=0.611-0.894,P=0.007),and the best cutoff value was 47.005 *** In summary,both SWe-and CeUS-guided transrectal prostate biopsy can help find the focus and guide the puncture,and improve the positive detection rate.

nanostructured Catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis

Fischer-Tropsch synthesis （FTS） is a heterogeneous catalytic process for the production of fuels or chemicals from synthesis gas （CO ＋ H2）, which can be derived from nonpetroleum feedstocks such as natural gas, coal, or biomass. Co, Ru, Fe and Ni are all active in FTS, but only cheaper Fe and Co based catalysts are used in industry because the price of Ru is relatively high. However, the industrial Fe- and Co-based FTS catalysts normally work at a relatively high temperature range of 493--623 K in order to get a reasonable space time yield. Moreover, the product selectivity of FTS is governed by the law of polymerization, i.e., a so-called Anderson-Schulz-FIory distribution holds, which restricts its industrial application. In this account, we highlight some of our progress toward the design/fabrication of nanostructured Fe, Co and Ru catalysts to improve FTS activity at the low temperature and to change the product selectivity and confine the product distribution into a certain range.
