Light detec.ion and ranging(LiDAR)serves as one of the key c.mponents in the fields of autonomous driving,surveying mapping,and environment ***,dense points c.ouds are pursued by LiDAR systems to provide high-definition 3D ***,the LiDAR is typic.lly used to produc. abundant yet redundant data for sc.nning the homogeneous bac.ground of sc.nes,resulting in power waste and exc.ssive proc.ssing ***,it is highly desirable for a LiDAR system to“gaze”at the target of interest by dense sc.nning and rough sparse sc.ns on the uninteresting ***,we propose a LiDAR struc.ure based on an optic.l phased array(OPA)with rec.nfigurable apertures to ac.ieve suc. a gaze sc.nning *** virtue of the c.sc.ded optic.l switc. integrated on the OPA c.ip,a 64-,128-,192-,or 256-c.annel antenna c.n be selec.ed disc.etionarily to c.nstruc. an aperture with variable *** c.rresponding divergenc. angles for the far-field beam are 0.32°,0.15°,0.10°,and 0.08°,*** rec.nfigurable-aperture OPA enables the LiDAR system to perform rough sc.ns via the large beam spots prior to fine sc.ns of the target by using the tiny beam *** this way,the OPA-based LiDAR c.n perform the“gaze”func.ion and ac.ieve full-range sc.nning *** sc.nning time and power c.nsumption c.n be reduc.d by 1/4 while prec.se details of the target are ***,we embed the OPA into a frequency-modulated c.ntinuous-wave(FMc.)system to demonstrate the“gaze”func.ion in beam *** results show that the number of prec.se sc.nning points c.n be reduc.d by 2/3 yet c.n obtain the reasonable outline of the *** rec.nfigurable-aperture OPA(RA-OPA)c.n be a promising c.ndidate for the applic.tions of rapid rec.gnition,like c.r navigation and robot vision.

c.nstruc.ion ac.ivities often involve removal of topsoil and c.mpac.ion of the exposed soil by heavy equipments. Suc. c.mpac.ed soils with low organic.matter c.n lead to low infiltration and poor vegetation establishment. The objec.ive of this study was to investigate the effic.cy of tillage (shallow till) and c.mpost on soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in a hydroseeded lawn as a post-c.nstruc.ion best management prac.ic. for soil c.mpac.ion remediation. The experimental site rec.ived a total of four land treatments in five replic.ted trials and it was hydroseeded with c.mmon Bermuda grass: 1) No Tillage + c.mpost (NT-c., 2) No Tillage + No c.mpost (NT-Nc.c.ntrol), 3) Tillage + c.mpost (T-c., and 4) Tillage + No c.mpost (T-Nc.. Bulk density (BD), infiltration rate (IR), and wet aggregate stability (WAS) in eac. plot were measured to assess soil physic.l properties while soil organic.matter (SOM) and enzyme ac.ivity (β-gluc.sidase, ac.d-phosphatase, and alkaline-phosphatase) were measured for soil biologic.l properties. Over a 15-months of monitoring period, the shallow tillage loosened the soil initially, but its effec. on BD without c.mpost was diminished to c.ntrol plot level (NT-Nc. within 4 months after hydroseeding. Both tillage and c.mpost led to an inc.ease in IR, and it remained higher than c.ntrol by 2 - 3 times throughout the observation period. The WAS and β-gluc.sidase ac.ivity dec.eased in tilled plot unless there was c.mpost applic.tion. Turfgrass showed greener leaves and aggregated roots in the c.mpost-amended plots (NT-c.and T-c.. Our results suggest that c.mpost applic.tion plays a key role in improving soil physic.l and biologic.l properties in hydroseeded lawns from c.nstruc.ion sites.
