Internal limiting membrane peeling combined with silicone oil or air tamponade for highly myopic foveoschisis

AIM:To compare the efficacy of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)combined with internal limiting membrane(ILM)and silicone oil or sterile air tamponade for the treatment of myopic foveoschisis(MF)in highly myopic ***:This retrospective study included 48 myopic eyes of 40 patients with MF and axial lengths(ALs)ranging from 26-32 mm treated between January 2020 and January *** patients were underwent PPV combined with ILM peeling followed by sterile air or silicone oil tamponade and followed up at least *** on the features on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(Sd-OCT),the eyes were divided into the MF-only group(Group A,n=15 eyes),MF with central foveal detachment group(Group B,n=20 eyes),and MF with lamellar macular hole group(Group C,n=13 eyes).According to AL,eyes were further divided into three groups:Group d(26.01-28.00 mm,n=12 eyes),Group E(28.01-30.00 mm,n=26 eyes),and Group F(30.01-32.00 mm,n=10 eyes).The best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central foveal thickness(CFT),and complications were ***:The patients included 16 males and 24 females with the mean age of 56±*** BCVA and CFT improved in all groups after surgery(Pdifference of the CFT in Group A,B,and C postoperatively(P>0.05).The intergroup differences of BCVA and CFT postoperatively were statistically significant in Group d,E,and *** eyes were injected with sterile air,and 28 eyes were injected with silicone oil for tamponade based on the ***,there was no statistically significant difference among Groups d,E,and F in terms of the results of sterile air or silicone oil *** mean recovery time was 5.9mo for MF patients subjected to silicone oil tamponade and 7.7mo for patients subjected to sterile air tamponade,and the difference was not statistically ***:PPV and ILM peeling combined with silicone oil or sterile air tamponade can achieve good results for MF in highly myopic eyes with ALs

Low Earth Orbit(LEO)multibeam satellites will be widely used in the next generation of satellite communication systems,whose inter-beam interference will inevitably limit the performance of the whole *** precoding such as Tomlinson-Harashima precoding(THP)algorithm has been proved to be a promising technology to solve this problem,which has smaller noise amplification effect compared with linear ***,the similarity of different user channels(defined as channel correlation)will degrade the performance of THP *** this paper,we qualitatively analyze the inter-beam interference in the whole process of LEO satellite over a specific coverage area,and the impact of channel correlation on Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)of receivers when THP is *** user grouping algorithm is proposed based on the analysis of channel correlation,which could decrease the number of users with high channel correlation in each precoding group,thus improve the performance of ***,our algorithm is designed under the premise of co-frequency deployment and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFdM),which leads to more users under severe inter-beam interference compared to the existing research on geostationary orbit satellites broadcasting *** results show that the proposed user grouping algorithm possesses higher channel capacity and better bit error rate(BER)performance in high SNR conditions relative to existing works.

Electrochemical CO reduction(ECOR)as a potential strategy for producing valuable chemicals and fuels has captured substantial ***,the currently available electrocatalysts suffer from poor selectivity and low Faradaic efficiency,limiting their industrial ***,we systematically investigate the potential of homonuclear bimetallic electrocatalysts,Tm_(2)@C_(9)N_(4)(TM=Fe,Co,Ni,and Cu),for the ECOR through extensive density functional theory *** findings suggest that all four proposed monolayers exhibit exceptional stability,making them highly suitable for experimental synthesis and practical ***,these transition-metal dual atoms anchored on C_(9)N_(4)monolayers show great potential in facilitating the production of high-value C_(2)products,such as C_(2)H_(5)OH and C_(2)H_(4),due to the significantly low limiting potentials(-0.06~-0.46 V)and small kinetic energy barriers(0.54–1.08 eV)for the CO coupling ***,with the exception of Ni_(2)@C_(9)N_(4),these bimetallic catalysts demonstrate the impressive suppression of the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),leading to a high selectivity for C_(2)products in *** predictions would accelerate the development of high-performance C_(9)N_(4)-based dual-atom catalysts for the ECOR.

The optical frequency comb has attracted considerable interest due to its diverse applications in optical atomic clocks,ultra-low-noise microwave generation,dual-comb spectroscopy,and optical *** merits of large frequency spacing,high integration,and low power consumption have shown that microresonator-based kerr optical frequency combs will become mainstream in the *** methods of pump frequency tuning and self-injection locking were used to obtain kerr combs in the same silicon nitride microresonators with free spectral ranges of 50 GHz and 100 *** combs are realized with both ***,pump power,spectrum bandwidth,conversion efficiency,and linewidth are compared and *** results show that the advantages of pump frequency tuning are a wider spectrum and higher soliton power while the advantages of self-injection locking are simplicity,compactness,low cost,significant linewidth narrowing,and high conversion efficiency.

Effects of oral probiotics on inflammation and intestinal function in adult patients after appendectomy:Randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUNd Appendectomy is an acute abdominal surgery that is often accompanied by severe abdominal *** probiotics are one of the postoperative treatments for rapid ***,there is a lack of prospective studies on this topic after *** To investigate whether the postoperative probiotics can modulate the inflammatory response and restore intestinal function in patients following *** This was a prospective,randomized trial.A total of 60 emergency patients were randomly divided into a control group(n=30)and a probiotic group(n=30).Patients in the control group started to drink some water the first day after surgery,and those in the probiotic group were given water supplemented with Bacillus licheniformis capsules for 5 consecutive days *** indices of inflammation and postoperative conditions were recorded,and the data were analyzed with RStudio 4.3.2 *** A total of 60 participants were *** with those in the control group,the C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin 6 and procalcitonin(PCT)levels were significantly lower in the probiotic group at 2 d after surgery(P=2.224e-05,P=0.037,and P=0.002,respectively,all Pd persisted at day 5 post-surgery,with CRP and PCT levels remaining significantly lower in the probiotic group(P=0.001 and P=0.043,both Pdministration of probiotics may modulate the gut microbiota,benefit the recovery of the early inflammatory response,and subsequently enhance recovery after appendectomy.

As a lot of electromagnetic pollution and interference issues have emerged,to overcome electromagnetic interference,prevent electromagnetic hazards,and develop new high-performance electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbers have become a significant task in the field of materials *** this paper,a three-dimensional(3d)carbon nanofibers network with core-shell structure,embedded with varied molar ratios of iron and cobalt(4:0,3:1,2:2,1:3,0:4),was effectively synthesized(Fe/Co@C-CNFs)via *** phase,microstructure,magnetic and EMW absorption properties were *** is discovered that Fe/Co@C-CNFs doped with iron:cobalt=1:1 have excellent EMW absorption *** the matching thickness is 1.08 mm,the minimum reflection loss(RL)value is-18.66 dB,while the maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)reaches 4.2 GHz(13.9-18 GHz)at a thickness of 1.22 *** is owing to the absorbers'superior impedance matching and multiple reflections as well as the conductivity,dielectric,and magnetic losses of carbon nanofibers embedded with Fe-Co alloy *** addition,the radar cross section(RCS)of the absorbers has been calculated by CST Studio Suite,showing that the absorbing coating can effectively reduce the RCS at various angles,especially for Fe/Co@C-CNFs doped with iron:cobalt=1:*** findings not only provide new insights for the preparation of light-weight and high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbers,but also contribute to energy storage and conversion.

The intelligent electronic devices have urgent demands for electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding films with excellent heat dissipation ***,it is challenging to obtain excellent EMI shielding and thermal conductivity performances ***,inspired by mille-feuille structure,the multifunctional EMI shielding films developed by a layer-by-layer self-assembly and hot-pressing *** ingenious introduction of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)with large specific surface area and highly conductive into the network formed by TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibrils(TOCNFs)with large aspect ratio to form the TOCNFs/*** the graphene nanoplates(GNPs)with high conductivity loss distributed alternately with TOCNFs/AgNPs to construct mille-feuille structure,which had highly efficient conductive network,complete thermally conduction pathway and rich heterogeneous ***,the designed films presented high electrical conductivity of 8520 S/cm,superb EMI effectiveness(SE)of 98.05 dB,and excellent thermal conductivity of 18.82 W/(m·K).Furthermore,the films possessed outstanding Joule heating performances with low voltages,including high heating temperature(100℃),fast response time(d impressive heating stability and ***,such high-performance EMI shielding films with fascinating thermal conductivity and Joule heating performances have substantial application in flexible electronics,electromagnetic waves shielding and thermal management.
