Involvements of chloride ion in decolorization of Acid Orange 7 by activated peroxydisulfate or peroxymonosulfate oxidation

The effects of chloride anion （Cl-）（up to 1.0 mol/L） on the decolorization of a model compound,azo dye Acid Orange 7 （AO7）,by sulfate radical （SO4-） based-peroxydisulfate （PS） or peroxymonosulfate （PMS） oxidation under various activated conditions （UV 254 nm /PS,Thermal （70°C/PS,UV 254 nm /PMS,Co 2＋ /PMS） were *** and NH4 ＋ were used as quenching reagents to determine the contributions of active chlorine species （dichloride radical （Cl2-.） and hypochlorous acid （HClO））.The results indicated that the effects of Cl- on the reaction mechanism were different under various activated *** UV/PS and Thermal/PS,the inhibition tendency became more clear as the Cl- concentration increased,probably due to the reaction between Cl- and SO4-.and the generation of Cl2-.or *** UV/PMS,Cl- did not exhibit inhibition when the concentration was below 0.1 mol/*** Cl- concentration reached to 1.0 mol/L,the decolorization rate of AO7 was,however,accelerated,possibly because PMS directly reacts with Cl- to form *** Co2＋ /PMS,Cl- exhibited a significant inhibiting effect even at low concentration （ 0.01 mol/L）.When Cl- concentration exceeded 0.1 mol/L,the activation of PMS by Co 2＋ was almost completely *** this condition,HClO maybe played a major role in decolorization of *** results implicated that chloride ion is an important factor in SO4-.-based degradation of organic contamination in chloride-containing water.

A new compound based on polyoxovanadate [{Ni（en）2}2Sb8V14O42]·5.5H2O（en=ethylenediamine）（1） was synthesised hydrothermally as black rhombus *** 1 crystallized in the monoclinic system with space group P21/n,Z=4,a=1.46953（9） nm,b=1.28623（8） nm,c=1.76008（11） nm,β=105.7230（10）°.In the asymmetric unit,cluster {Sb8V14O42} can be considered as an Sb derivative of the {V18O42} *** {Sb8V14O42} cluster as a building block interconnected to four other neighboring units by {Ni（en）2} bridging groups which are linked through the terminal oxygen atoms of the polyoxoanions,forming a two dimensional network.

A PRACTICAL MODEL FOR THE DECAY OF RANDOM WAVES ON MUDDY BEACHES

A practical model has been developed for the propagation and decay of random waves on muddy beaches. In the model, an irregular wave train is characterized by its root-mean-squared wave height, mean wave frequency and mean wave direction. It is also assumed that the wave spectrum is narrow-banded in terms of both frequency and direction. Transformation of root-mean-squared wave height is derived from the conservation of energy flux for individual wave components. Energy dissipation is considered due to both wave breaking and the dynamics response of muddy seabed. The model is applied to waves on the muddy beach at Hangzhou Bay, and the numerical results obtained are shown to be acceptably accurate as comparing with available field data.

Ni–P coating on AZ31 magnesium alloy and its crystallization

Amorphous Ni-P coating was plated on AZ31 magnesium alloy via the electroless plating technique, and the plated alloy was subsequently annealed. X-ray dif- fraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS）, and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC） were used to characterize the coating. The results show that the hardness of the coating is much higher than that of bare magnesium alloy, which further increases after crystallization. The electrochemical polarization and salt spray tests show that the coating exhibits a much higher corrosion resistance than that of the bare magnesium alloy. Moreover, the crystallized coating still exhibits a much stronger corrosion resistance than that of the bare magnesium alloy, although its corrosion resistance is lower than that of the as-plated one.

Catalytic degradation of organic pollutants for water remediation over Ag nanoparticles immobilized on amine-functionalized metalorganic frameworks

Developing efficient catalysts for organic pollutants degradation is crucial for remediating the current severe water environment,yet remains a great ***,we report silver nanoparticles immobilized on an amine-functionalized metal-organic framework(MOFs)(Ag/UiO-66-NH_(2))as a robust catalyst for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol(4-NP).The fabricated Ag/UiO-66-NH_(2)catalyst exhibits the merits of superior activities(high turnover frequency(TOF)3.2×10^(4)h^(-1)and k value 6.9×10^(-2)s^(-1)),costeffectiveness under the lowest NaBH4 concentration(n[NaBH_(4)]/n[4-NP],200),outstanding cyclability(10 recycling runs),and observable long-term durability,significantly outperforming previously reported catalytic *** excellent degradation efficiency is ascribed to the favorable microenvironment modulation of unique MOF structure,which regulates the intrinsic properties of active sites and improves the electron-transfer ***,the Ag/UiO-66-NH_(2)also promotes the catalytic degradation of several organic pollutants at room temperature and hence could find a broad application for water *** work offers a new avenue for the development of high-performance MOF-based catalysts with excellent activity and durability.

A cobalt paradodecatungstate [Co（H2O）5]2[Co（H2O）4]3[H2W12O42]·11H2O has been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. Structure analysis indicates that the title compound is of monoclinic, space group P21/n, with a = 13.449（3）, b = 19.585（4）, c = 13.990（3） °A, = 113.79（3）°, V = 3371.8（12） °A^3, Z = 2, R = 0.0519 and wR = 0.1242. The title compound exhibits a novel 3D extended network structure constructed by interconnecting the paradodecatungstate polyanion [H2W12O42]^10- clusters and cobalt^11 coordination ions.

A hybrid compound [Mn（2,2＇-bipy）3]2[β-Mo8O26]·4H2O prepared by the hydrothermal method consists of a [β-Mo8O26]^4- isopolyanion, two isolated manganese-bipyridyl units [Mn（2,2＇-bipy）3]^2＋ and four crystal water molecules. Each [Mn（2,2＇-bipy）3]^2＋ is defined by six nitrogen atoms from three 2,2＇-bipyridine molecules forming a distorted MnN6 octahedron. Crystallographic data for the title compound： monoclinic, space group P21/c, a = 12.156（2）, b = 13.738（3）, c = 21.949（4） A,β = 90.44（3）°, V = 3665.3（13） A^3, Mr = 2302.57, Z = 2, Dc = 2.086 g/cm^3, F（000） = 2252, T= 293（2） K,μ（Mo-Kα） = 1.745 mm^-1, R = 0.0436, wR = 0.1056, and GOF = 1.074 for 550 parameters and 5515 observed reflections with I 〉 2σ（I）.

Suspension Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate Stabilized Solely by Palygorskite Nano Fibers

A kind of fibrous clay, palygorskite （PAL）, was used as the sole stabilizer in suspension polymerization without the using of any other stabilizer usually used, especially polymeric stabilizers. In order to improve the compatibility with the organic monomer, PAL nano fibers were organically modified with silane coupling agent methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane （MPS）. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and Fourier-transform infrared （FTIR） spectroscopy results show that the hydrolyzed MPS was attached onto PAL surface through Si--O--Si bonds formation without morphology change of PAL. At a loading amount of PAL to monomer as low as 0.36 wt%, effective stabilization could be achieved. After suspension polymerization, spherical poly（methyl methacrylate）（PMMA） particles were obtained. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） analysis on both the outer surface and the inner cracked surface of the spherical PMMA particles indicates that the PAL particles reside on the surface of the PMMA spheres. The densely stacked PAL together with attached silane coupling agent stabilized the droplets throughout the suspension polymerization.
