The kinetics and mechanism of ligand substitution reactions of nitrilotriacetatoiron（Ⅲ）, [Fe（NTA）], and N-（2-hydroxyethyl）-ethylenediaminetfiacetatoiron（Ⅲ）, [Fe（HEDTA）], complexes with 4-（2-pyridylazo） resorcinol （Par） has been investigated at pH = 9.0±0.02, I= 0.1mol·1-1（NaclO4）, and temp. = 25 ±0.1℃ and 30±0.1℃ respectively. The reaction has been studied spectrophotometrically at 496 nm. (λmaxof Fe（Par）2). In both reactions the final product was [Fe（Par）2]-. The values of second order rate constants for NTA and HEDTA exchange reactions are （10.0±0.8）×10～1·mol-1·s-1and （2.7± 0.1）×10-11·mol-1·s-1respectively. The reactions of NTA and HEDTA exchange were studied in the pH range 6-9.5 and 7-10.85 respectively. The rate of reacton of [Fe（NTA）] with HPar-first increases with pH and then levels off. However, in the case of [Fe（HEDTA）] reaction, the rate increases monotonically with increase of pH in the specified range. The reverse reactions between [Fe（Par）2

To investigate the surgical therapies for gastric cancer (Gc) patients of age 85 or older in a multicenter *** opportunities for elderly Gc patients have expanded in conjunction with extended life expectancy. However, the number of cases encountered in a single institution is usually very small and surgical therapies for elderly Gc patients have not yet been standardized completely. In the present study, a total of 134 Gc patients of age 85 or older who underwent surgery in 9 related facilities were retrospectively investigated. The relationships between surgical therapies and clinicopathological or prognostic features were ***-nine of the patients (66%) presented with a comorbidity, and 26 (19% overall) presented with more than two comorbidities. Radical lymphadenectomy was performed in 59 patients (44%), and no patient received pre- or post-operative chemotherapy. Forty of the patients (30%) experienced perioperative complications, but no surgical or perioperative mortality occurred. Laparoscopic surgery was performed in only 12 of the patients (9.0%). Univariate and multivariate analyses of the 113 patients who underwent R0 or R1 resection identified the factors of pT3/4 and limited lymphadenectomy as predictive of worse prognosis (HR = 4.68, P = 0.02 and HR =2.19, P = 0.05, respectively). Non-cancer-specific death was more common in cStage I patients than in cStage II or III patients. Limited lymphadenectomy correlated with worse cancer-specific survival (P = 0.01), particularly in cStage II patients (P ctomy and any comorbidities, except for cerebrovascular disease (P = 0.07).cONcLUSIONNon-cancer-specific death was not negligible, particularly in cStage I, and gastrectomy with radical lymphadenectomy appears to be an effective treatment for cStage II elderly Gc patients.

本实验对使用从灰霉菌中提取的原纤维素酶和木聚糖酶对静电复印废纸进行脱墨的潜在应用进行了研究。实验考察了酶的添加点、用量、浆浓和反应时间,以期在不影响纸张强度性能的前提下获得最大可能的脱墨效率。结果表明,当使用100%的静电复印废纸时,酶脱墨比化学脱墨有更好的脱墨效率(+25.4%)、更高的亮度(+5.2%)、耐破指数(+23.9%)和耐折度(+15.9%)。另外酶脱墨的浆料打浆度提高19.6%,滤水时间减少17.3%。该酶的脱墨效率及打浆度达到商业纤维素酶的效果,但强度性能和亮度均显著改善。本实验取得的脱墨效率(95.2%)和其他使用100%的静电复印废纸的研究结果相当,但打浆度比以前使用100%静电复印废纸和办公室混合废纸的相关研究显著提高。实验还取得了使用酶进行脱墨所预期的低废水负荷。综上所述,从灰霉菌中所提取的原酶用于静电复印废纸脱墨的潜在应用得到了确认。

Dear Editor： Therapeutically active metabolite contents in a med- icinal plant vary in nature, which may impact on its therapeutic efficacy. Bergenia （Saxifragaceae） is an evergreen perennial herb widely distributed in central and East Asia with about 30 species reported worldwide. It grows at a range of altitudes from the Khasia hills at 400 feet to the temperate Himalayas from Kashmir to Bhutan at 7,000-10,000 feet. Its distribution over a wide range of altitudinal zones makes it a good candidate for studying variations in its metabolic profiles under different climatic conditions. Bergenin （c-glycoside of 4-O-methyl gallic acid） has been identified as a potent active secondary metabolite in Bergenia and other therapeutically active constituents including, among others, gallic acid （3,4,5 trihydroxybenzoic acid）, （＋） catechin, and gallicin （Fig. 1）.

Plexins are cell surface receptors that bind to semaphorins and transduce signals that regulate neuronal development, immune responses, and other processes. Signaling through plexins has been proposed to rely on specific guanosine triphosphatase（GTPase）–activating protein（GAP） activity for R-Ras and M-Ras. The intracellular region of plexins is essential for signaling and contains a R-Ras/M-Ras GTPase activating protein（GAP） domain that is divided into two segments by a Rho GTPase-binding domain（RBD）. Activation of this GAP activity of plexins appears to require simultaneous binding of semaphorin to the plexin extracellular domain and of the Rho GTPases Rac1 or Rnd1 to the cytoplasmic region. However, GAP activity of plexins has eluded detection in several recent studies. Here we report the crystal structure of the plexin A3 intracellular region. The structure shows that the N- and c-terminal portions of the GAP homologous regions together form a GAP domain with an overall fold similar to other Ras GAPs. However, the plexin GAP domain adopts a closed conformation and cannot accommodate R-Ras/M-Ras in its substrate-binding site, providing a structural basis for the autoinhibited state of plexins. A comparison with the plexin B1 RBD/Rnd1 complex structure suggests that Rnd1 binding alone does not induce a conformational change in plexin, explaining the requirement of both semaphorin and a Rho GTPase for activation. The structure also identifies an N-terminal segment that is important for regulation. Both the N-terminal segment and the RBD make extensive interactions with the GAP domain, suggesting the presence of an allosteric network connecting these three domains that integrates semaphorin and Rho GTPase signals to activate the GAP. Further we found that the purified cytoplasmic region of plexin uses a noncanonical catalytic mechanism to act as a GAP for Rap, but not for R-Ras or M-Ras. BAcKGROUND Hepatitis B virus(HBV)nucleos(t)ide analog(NA)therapy reduces liver disease but requires prolonged therapy to achieve hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)*** is limited North American real-world data using non-invasive tools for fibrosis assessment and few have compared 1st generation NA or lamivudine(LAM)to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(TDF).AIM To assess impact of NA on virological response and fibrosis regression using liver stiffness measurement(LSM)(i.e.,FibroScan®).METHODS Retrospective,observational cohort study from the canadian HBV *** collected included demographics,NA,HBV DNA,alanine aminotransferase(ALT),and *** were HBV monoinfected patients,treatment naïve,and received 1 NA with minimum 1 year *** In 465(median 49 years,37%female,35%hepatitis B e antigen+at baseline,84%Asian,6%White,and 9%Black).Percentage of 64(n=299)received TDF and 166 were LAM-treated with similar median duration of 3.9 and 3.7 years,*** mean baseline LSM was 11.2 kPa(TDF)vs 8.3 kPa(LAM)(P=0.003).At 5-year follow-up,the mean LSM was 7.0 kPa in TDF vs 6.7 kPa in LAM(P=0.83).There was a significant difference in fibrosis regression between groups(i.e.,mean-4.2 kPa change in TDF and-1.6 kPa in LAM,Pcally suppressed(cleared *** In this real-world North American study,approximately 5 years of NA achieves liver fibrosis regression rarely leads to HBsAg loss.
