Hydrogen is omnipresent during the synthesis and processing of silicon nanocrystals (Si NCs).It is generally assumed that the incorporation of hydrogen leads to the passivation of Si dangling bonds at the NC ***,it is also speculated that hydrogen may be incorporated inside Si *** this work the formation energy and probability of hydrogen in its three configurations,i.e.,hydrogen molecules,bond-centered atomic hydrogen,and antibonding atomic hydrogen,are calculated to rigorously evaluate the incorporation of hydrogen inside Si *** find that hydrogen cannot be incorporated inside Si NCs with a diameter of a few nanometers at temperatures up to 1500K.

In this paper, a method based on the Dirichlet- to-Neumann map is developed for bandgap calculation of mixed in-plane waves propagating in 2D phononic crystals with square and triangular lattices. The method expresses the scattered fields in a unit cell as the cylindrical wave expansions and imposes the Bloch condition on the boundary of the unit cell. The Dirichlet-to-Neumann （DtN） map is applied to obtain a linear eigenvalue equation, from which the Bloch wave vectors along the irreducible Brillouin zone are calculated for a given frequency. Compared with other methods, the present method is memory-saving and time-saving. It can yield accurate results with fast convergence for various material combinations including those with large acoustic mismatch without extra computational cost. The method is also efficient for mixed fluid-solid systems because it considers the different wave modes in the fluid and solid as well as the proper fluid-solid interface condition.

Multiple sclerosis （MS） is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system characterized by episodic and progressive neurologic dysfunction resulting from inflammatory and autoimmune reactions. The underlying pathogenesis of MS remains largely unclear. However, it is currently accepted as a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease. Among other clinical manifestations, sexual dysfunction （SD） is a painful but still underreported and underdiagnosed symptom of the disorder. SD in MS patients may result from a complex set of conditions and may be associated with multiple anatomic, physiologic, biologic, medical and psychological factors. SD arises primarily from lesions affecting the neural pathways involved in physiologic function. In addition, psychological factors, the side effects of medications and physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscular weakness, menstrual changes, pain and concerns about bladder and bowel incontinence may also be involved. Since MS primarily affects young people, SD secondary to MS may have a great impact on quality of life. Thus, maintaining a healthy sexual life with MS is an important priority. The treatment of SD requires multidisciDlinarv teamwork and coooeration amone specialists,individual patients, partners and the society.

BACKGROUND Intrahepatic portosystemic venous shunt(IPSVS)is a rare hepatic disease with different clinical *** IPSVS patients with mild shunts are asymptomatic,while the patients with severe shunts present complications such as hepatic *** patients with portal hypertension accompanied by intrahepatic shunt,portal hypertension may lead to hemodynamic changes that may result in exacerbated portal shunt and increased shunt *** SUMMARY A 57-year-old man,with the medical history of chronic hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis,was admitted to our hospital with abnormal behavior for 10 *** had received the esophageal varices ligation and entecavir therapy 1 year *** with former examination results,the degree of esophageal varices was significantly reduced,while the right branch of the portal vein was significantly expanded and ***,abdominal ultrasound presented the right posterior branch of portal vein connected with the retrohepatic inferior vena *** imaging findings indicated the diagnosis of IPSVS and hepatic *** of radiologic interventions or surgical therapies,this patient had only accepted symptomatic *** recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy was observed during 1-year *** Hemodynamic changes may exacerbate intrahepatic portosystemic *** intervention or surgery should be carefully applied to patients with severe portal hypertension due to the risk of hemorrhage.

Ischemic stroke is a major cause of mortality and disability worldwide,with limited treatment options available in clinical *** emergence of stem cell therapy has provided new hope to the field of stroke treatment via the restoration of brain neuron *** neural stem cells are beneficial not only in cell replacement but also through the bystander *** stem cells regulate multiple physiological responses,including nerve repair,endogenous regeneration,immune function,and blood-brain barrier permeability,through the secretion of bioactive substances,including extracellular vesicles/***,due to the complex microenvironment of ischemic cerebrovascular events and the low survival rate of neural stem cells following transplantation,limitations in the treatment effect remain *** this paper,we provide a detailed summary of the potential mechanisms of neural stem cell therapy for the treatment of ischemic stroke,review current neural stem cell therapeutic strategies and clinical trial results,and summarize the latest advancements in neural stem cell engineering to improve the survival rate of neural stem *** hope that this review could help provide insight into the therapeutic potential of neural stem cells and guide future scientific endeavors on neural stem cells.

Objective: To study the effects of electroacupuncture(EA) in chronic constrictive injury(CCI) rat model and the expression of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor type 2B(NR2B) in ipsilateral spinal dorsal horn in rats to explore the analgesic mechanisms of EA. Methods: According to the random number table, totally 180 rats were evenly divided into a sham group, a CCI group, and an EA group. CCI model was conducted with four4–0 chromic gut ligatures loosely ligated around the left sciatic nerve 1 cm above the trifurcation. Rats in the EA group received 2 Hz EA therapy bilaterally at acupoints of Zusanli(ST 36) and Sanyinjiao(SP 6) once daily(30 min/d) for 30 days after surgery. Paw withdrawal thresholds(PWTs) were measured on 0(baseline), 1, 3, 7, 15,30 days after surgery. Rats were sacri?ced on 0, 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30 days after surgery, and the L4–5 segments of spinal cord were removed to detect the expression of NR2B by immunohistochemistry and quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results: PWTs in the CCI group were signi?cantly lower than the sham group at Day1–30 after surgery, and reached its lowest at Day 1(Pni?cantly higher than those in the CCI group on 3, 7, 15 and 30 days after surgery(Pni?cantly increased after CCI surgery compared with the sham group(P<0.01). Compared with the CCI group, stimulation of EA markedly decreased the numbers of NR2B-immunoreactive cells at Day 3, 7, 15 and 30(P<0.05). In the sham group, NR2B mRNA was expressed at a low level. It increased after CCI surgery, which increased rapidly at Day 7(P<0.01) and reached its peak value at Day 15(P<0.01). After EA stimulation, relative quantity of NR2B mRNA expression was less than that in the CCI group at Day 15 and 30(P<0.05).
