Bac.ground: c.rtain ovarian c.nc.rs.that were previous.y c.mmon in pos.menopaus.l women are now inc.eas.ngly obs.rved in women of reproduc.ive age. The res.arc. on us.ng β-Hc. as.a diagnos.ic.biomarker for ovarian c.nc.r in women of reproduc.ive age is.ongoing. Aim: This.s.udy as.es.ed the level of s.rum β-Hc. in non-pregnant women of reproduc.ive age and determined its.potential as.oc.ation with s.s.ic.ous.ovarian ultras.nography res.lts. Methods. The s.udy was.c.nduc.ed in Port Harc.urt, Nigeria. This.s.udy adopted a c.os.-s.c.ional des.gn on a quota s.mple of 224 c.s. notes.of women aged 18 - 40 years.obtained from eight diagnos.ic.c.ntres. A data extrac.ion form was.us.d for data c.llec.ion. Data analys.s.employed des.riptive s.atis.ic.0} c.i-s.uare, Fis.er’s.exac. tes., and Odds.Ratio at 95% c.nfidenc. and 5% s.gnific.nc. levels. Res.lts. About 5.8% of the partic.pants.exhibited detec.able levels.of s.rum β-Hc. above 5 IU/L (World Health Organization referenc.) at a mean c.nc.ntration of 5.87 (±1.75) IU/L. About 4.0% of the partic.pants.had s.s.ic.ous.ovarian les.ons.identified through ultras.nography. Partic.pants.with elevated s.rum β-Hc. levels.above the WHO referenc. were 59 times.more likely to have s.s.ic.ous.ovarian les.ons.(Odds.ratio: 59.4, 95%c.: 12.3 - 287.8, p β-Hc. level and age (p = 0.041) as.well as.parity (p c.nc.us.on: s.rum β-Hc. levels.above the WHO referenc. in non-pregnant women were as.oc.ated with s.s.ic.ous.ovarian les.ons. More rigorous.primary res.arc., s.s.ematic.reviews. and meta-analys.s.are needed to c.nfirm the findings.of this.s.udy.
