Tuning the coordination environment is the research axis of single atom catalysts (SACs). SACs are commonly stabilized by various defects from support. Here, we report a lattice confined Pd SAC using MnO_(2) as support. Compared with the Pd clusters anchored on the surface, the lattice confined Pd single atoms allows spontaneous exaction of surrounding lattice oxygen at room temperature when employed in CO oxidation. The MnO_(2) supported Pd SAC exhibited a high turnover frequency of 0.203 s^(−1) at low reaction temperature, which is higher than that of recently reported Pd SACs. Theoretical calculations also confirmed the confined monatomic Pd activate lattice oxygen with an ultralow energy barrier. Our results illustrate that the unique coordination environment of single atom provided by lattice confinement is promising to boost the activity of SACs.

Exploring highly efficient Pt-free catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)is of great importance for hydrogen(H2)***,a novel HER electrocatalyst having abundant ultra-small(2–3 nm)Ru electronically confined by a B,n codoped polar carbon surface(Ru/(B-n)-PC)was *** Ru/(B-n)-PC catalyst exhibits a low overpotential of 15 mV at the current density of 10 mA·cm^(−2),a low Tafel slope of 22.6 mV·dec^(−1),superior durability,which outperforms the benchmark Pt/C *** experimental characterizations and theory calculations suggest that an electron communication established between B,n co-doped carbon surface and ultra-small Ru nanoparticles with electrons transferred from n atoms to Ru and backtransferred from Ru to B atoms,which exerts a moderate electronic modification of ***,in turn,affords a modest H adsorption energy and a lower H2O dissociation barrier,leading to the high-performance hydrogen evolution *** work provides meaningful insight into the size control and electronic modulation of Ru catalyst for intrinsic HER activity improvement.

In international thermonuclear experimental reactor （ITER）, one of major concerns is an in-vessel tritium inventory from a point of safety. It is believed that the carbon-tritium co-deposited film produced by the erosion of carbon diverter walls has a high tritium concentration. However, no systematic evaluation for the tritium concentration has been conducted yet. In the present study, the carbon-hydrogen co-deposited films were prepared at the wall of pumping duct in Local Island Divertor experiments of LHD, in order to evaluate the tritium concentration of the co-deposited films produced in ITER. The hydrogen concentration was obtained by measuring the amount of retained hydrogen in the film and the mass density of the film. The hydrogen concentration of the co-deposited carbon film at the wall not facing to the plasma with a low temperature was extremely high, 1.3 in the atomic ratio of H/C. This value is triple times higher than the previous value obtained so far. The crystal structure of the co-deposited carbon film observed by Raman spectroscopy showed very unique structure （polymeric aC：H）, which is well consistent with the high hydrogen concentration. The present study suggests that the tritium concentration of the co-deposited film in ITER depends on the wall position and becomes quite high as high as T/C-0.65. The results obtained contribute to evaluate the in-vessel tritium inventory owing to the co-deposited carbon films.

Influence of Heat Treatment Temperature and of Sb2O3 addition on Photoluminescence Properties of ZnO Ceramics Prepared by Sol-Gel Technique Preparation

To explore thin transparent electroluminescence and electric conductive films by sol-gel technique, Sb2O3 doped n-type ZnO ceramics powders were prepared by sol-gel technique and photoluminescence properties were measured. Then, the influences of composition and heat treatment temperature on photoluminescence properties were investigated in detail. With respect to the dopant concentration, about 1mol% addition of Sb2O3 was effective to increase photoluminescence intensity. With respect to heat treatment temperature, 800℃ was appropriate, and rather higher heat treatment temperature resulted in the formation of Zn7Sb2O12 and decrease the intensity. The excited ultraviolet wavelength of 200nm was proper to intense photoluminescence.

Objective: The Okinawa prefectural government conducted enhanced surveillance for the Sixth Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival, with participation of more than 5300 visitors from abroad, many of whom were Okinawan or of Okinawan descent, for early detection of Zika virus disease and other potential public health threat outbreaks. Method: Enhanced surveillance conducted from 12 October through 13 november involved four surveillance systems, (nursery) School Absenteeism Surveillance system ((n)SASSy), Prescription Surveillance (PS), and Official Syndromic Surveillance (OSS), each of them operates routinely, in addition to case-based and sentinel surveillance under the Infectious Diseases Control Law as Official national Surveillance of Infectious Diseases (OnSID). This enhanced surveillance was conducted for analysis and evaluation, with intensive information sharing among concerned parties. Result: We performed the enhanced surveillance for 33 days from 12 October through 13 november. Information from enhanced surveillance was analyzed and evaluated, and eventually summarized as a daily report. There has been one rubella case at an elementary school in Okinawa City on 20 October and a measles case at an elementary school in Uruma City on 2 november. Those two cases were registered into (n)SASSy on a timely basis. The public health center investigated them quickly, and the measles case was denied later because symptoms did not satisfy with case definition. Discussion: We regard enhanced surveillance as useful to confirm events that might demand a public health response. Moreover, the related including public health centers or medical institutions confirmed the situation as valuable for the administrative structure. However, because almost all (nursery) schools or pharmacies are closed during successive holidays, outbreaks that occur on such days cannot be recognized on a timely basis. We describe a case of ulcerative colitis (UC) where clinical symptoms began abruptly within a few weeks after colon resection. The patient, a 44- year-old woman, was first referred to our hospital for the treatment of colon cancer. During the past several years, she had not had any inflammatory bowel disease-like clinical symptoms, such as frequent diarrhea or abdominal discomfort. Before the operation, both macroscopic and microscopic examination revealed that no remarkable inflammatory change was associated with the cancer in any area of her colon. At 10 days after the operation, she started to complain of frequent watery diarrhea. Two weeks after the operation, she was readmitted to our hospital because of frequent bloody diarrhea, fever, and abdominal discomfort. Based on endoscopic and histological examinations, she was diagnosed as having severe UC and was treated with hyperalimentation, predonisolone, mesalazine, and granulocyte apheresis. However, she did not respond to this combination therapy. At 45 days after the first operation, owing to sudden onset hemorrhagic shock, she underwent a second colectomy. The resected specimen of the entire colon showed severe pancolitis, and histological examination revealed severe inflammatory changes in the lamina propria together with crypt distortion, all of which were consistent with UC.
