A shield module is associated with an Indian Test Blanket Module (TBM) in ITER to limit the radiation doses in port inter-space *** shield module is made of stainless steel plates and water *** is identified as an important component for radiation protection because of its radiation exposure control *** radiation protection classification leads to more assurance of the component *** order to validate and verify the design of the shield module,a neutronic laboratory-scale experiment is designed and *** experiment is planned by considering the irradiation under a neutron source of 14 Mev and yields of 1010 n *** reference neutron spectrum of the ITER TBM shield module has been achieved through optimization of the neutron source spectrum by a combination of steel and lead *** neutron spectrum and flux are measured using a multiple foil activation technique and neutron dose-rate meter LB 6411 (He-3 proton recoil counter with polyethylene),*** neutronic design simulation is assessed using MCnP5 and FEnDL 2.1 crosssection *** paper covers neutronic design,irradiation and the outcome of the experiment in detail.

The oxidation of aluminium was studied using optical emission spectroscopy （OEs） during the evaporation of aluminium in traces of oxygen in a thermal plasma reactor. The ratio of the measured line intensities of Al-O with that of Al follows the exact trend as of that obtained from the corresponding line intensities in X-ray diffraction spectra of the synthesized samples. In this paper the inherent capacity of emission spectroscopy in evaluating the growth processes under plasma induced reactions is presented.

The performance and emission characteristics of a PPCCI engine fuelled with ethanol and diesel blends were car- ded out on a single cylinder air cooled CI engine. In order to achieve the optimal process response with a limited number of experimental cycles, multi objective grey relational analysis had been applied for solving a multiple response optimization problem. Using grey relational grade and signal-to-noise ratio as a performance index, a combination of input parameters was prefigured so as to achieve optimum response characteristics. It was observed that 20% premixed ratio of blend was most suitable for use in a PPCCI engine without significantly affecting the engine performance and emissions characteristics.

Blue emitting rare earth（Eu2＋,Ce3＋） doped BaAl2si2O8 phosphors were synthesized by combustion methods at 600 oC. BaAl2si2O8： Eu2＋ phosphor showed isolated broad blue emission band at 455 nm, when it was excited with the wavelength of 329 nm. Whereas BaAl2si2O8：Ce3＋ phosphor exhibited blue emission band at 442 nm, under 303 nm excitation wavelength. These observed emission bands of Eu2＋ and Ce3＋ ions corresponded to 5d-4f allowed transitions. The position of emission band was calculated by using the equationE=Q[1-〔v/4〕^1/v）]× 10 （nEar/80）Also the spin orbit splitting difference in the ground state levels of Ce3＋ ion was studied by Gaussian curve fitting. Broad absorption and emission bands in blue regions made prepared phosphors a promising blue host for the white-LEDs.

Magma mixing process is unusual in the petrogenesis of felsic rocks associated with alkaline complex worldwide. Here we present a rare example of magma mixing in syenite from the Yelagiri Alkaline Complex, south India. Yelagiri syenite is a reversely zoned massif with shoshonitic (na2O t K2O?5e 10 wt.%, na2O/K2O ? 0.5e2, TiO2nd metaluminous character. systematic modal variation of plagioclase (An11e16 Ab82e88), K-feldspar (Or27e95 Ab5e61), diopside (En34e40Fs11e18Wo46e49), biotite, and Ca-amphibole (edenite) build up three syenite facies within it and imply the role of in-situ fractional crystallization (FC). Evidences such as (1) disequilibrium micro-textures in feldspars, (2) microgranular mafic enclaves (MME) and (3) synplutonic dykes signify mixing of shoshonitic mafic magma (MgO ? 4e 5 wt.%, siO2 ? 54e59 wt.%, K2O/na2O ? 0.4e0.9) with syenite. Molecular-scale mixing of mafic magma resulted disequilibrium growth of feldspars in syenite. Physical entity of mafic magma preserved as MME due to high thermal-rheological contrast with syenite magma show various hybridization through chemical exchange, mechanical dilution enhanced by chaotic advection and phenocryst migration. In synplutonic dykes, disaggregation and mixing of mafic magma was confined within the conduit of injec-tion. Major-oxides mass balance test quantified that approximately 0.6 portions of mafic magma had interacted with most evolved syenite magma and generated most hybridized MME and dyke samples. It is unique that all the rock types (syenite, MME and synplutonic dykes) share similar shoshonitic and met-aluminous character;mineral chemistry, REE content, coherent geochemical variation in Harker diagram suggest that mixing of magma between similar composition. Outcrop-scale features of crystal accumu-lation and flow fabrics also significant along with MME and synplutonic dykes in syenite suggesting that Yelagiri syenite magma chamber had evolved through multiple physical processes like

By the 90° elastic light scattering investigation and far field observation in the range of 20 - 800 ℃, the relation between behavior of light scattering anomalies and evolution of nanodomain structures in lattice of barium sodium niobate （Ba2nanb5O15, Bsn） crystal was clarified. The correlation between anomalies on the temperature curves of the elastic light scattering intensity and temperature transformations of nanodomains was studied by X-ray and electron microscope methods. Phase transition near 500 ℃ and movement in field of scattering light could be explained by appearance of a new incommensurate phase.

A new method for the synthesis of azo schiff an base ligand in which the azo and azomethine groups are coordination sites was developed through a schiff base precursor. The precursor, n-4-methoxybenzylidene-3-hydroxyphenylamine （sB） derived from 3-aminophenol was regioselectively coupled with a diazonium ion para to the hydroxyl group of the amine component of the schiff base. The para selectivity was controlled by the directing effect of the hydroxyl group. The ligand and its nickel（Ⅱ） complex were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and Uv-vis spectroscopy. The analytical and spectral data supported the mononuclear formulation of the complex with metal to ligand ratio （M ： L = 1 ： 2） and suggested a square planar geometry for the complex.
