Aim:Autologous fat grafting has gained acceptance as a technique to improve aesthetic outcomes in breast *** purpose of this study was to share our clinical experience using autologous fat injection to correct contour deformities during breast ***:A single surgeon,prospectively maintained database of patients who underwent autologous fat injection during breast reconstruction from January 2008 to november 2013 at McGill University Health Center was *** characteristics,breast history,type of breast reconstruction,volume of fat injected,and complications were ***:One hundred and twenty-four patients benefited from autologous fat injection from January 2008 to november 2013,for a total of 187 treated *** patients were on average 49.3 years old(±8.9 years).Fat was harvested from the medial thighs(20.5%),flanks(39.1%),medial thighs and flanks(2.9%),trochanters(13.3%),medial knees(2.7%),and abdomen(21.9%).An average of 49.25 mL of fat was injected into each reconstructed breast.A total of 187 breasts in 124 patients were lipo-infiltrated during the second stage of breast *** breasts(in 12 separate patients)were injected several years after having undergone lumpectomy and *** the 187 treated breasts,118 were reconstructed with expanders to implants,45 with deep inferior epigastric perforator flaps,9 with latissimus dorsi flaps with implants,4 with transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous flaps,and 13 had previously undergone lumpectomy and *** complications were noted in the entire series,for a rate of 3.2%.All were in previously radiated *** follow-up time was 12 months(range:2-36 months).Conclusion:Fat injection continues to grow in popularity as an adjunct to breast *** experience demonstrates a low complication rate as compared to most surgical interventions of the breast and further supports its safety in breast ***

Dental Plaque Streptococci and Their Amoxicillin Resistance in Children with Congenital Heart Anomalies: Results of a Prospective Study

Children with congenital heart diseases (CHD) are considered to be at higher risk of development of a Bacterial Endocarditic (BE) from infectious diseases of the oral cavity and following dental treatments. They represent the largest group of patients with special medical needs who appear in the daily dental practice. Maintenance of oral health and oral hygiene is suitable to reduce the incidence of bacteremia. Oral hygiene is more important in reducing the risk of BE than the administration of antibiotic-prophylaxis before dental procedures. The purpose of this study was to identify the strains of streptococci viridians group from dental plaque and their amoxicillin resistance at children with congenital heart disease. The study was carried out in University Dentistry Clinical Center of Kosova, Department of Pediatric Dentistry in cooperation with the Micro-biologic Department. Participants in this study (n = 90) were children between 6 - 15 years old, divided in the control group of healthy children (n = 30), and two study groups, first group, children with CHD who have not taken antibiotics within last three months (n = 30) and second group, children with CHD who have taken antibiotics within three months (n = 30). The gram positive cocci were identified using the automated system, VITEK 2 (BioMerux), while for determining amoxicillin resistance cocci the disc diffusion method was used. By analyzing the three groups of children regarding isolated dental plaque streptococci, in general the Viridans group of streptococci (VGS) has dominated our results, with a higher percentage of streptococcus Mitis group (37.2%). The highest resistance of VGS against amoxicilin was in the group of children with CHD, which have been using antibiotics within 3 months (23.3%). In the other two groups the resistance against amoxicillin was found in a lower percentage (3.3%). Micropropagation from shoot tips and nodal segments was carried out for the conservation and domestication of spontaneous Moroccan thyme, Thymus broussonetii Boiss. subsp. broussonetii (endemic threatened). The mineral composition of the culture medium, as well as the succession of different growth regulators, influenced the in vitro growth of this species. Sterilized achenes of T. broussonetii were able to germinate on an agar medium containing Gautheret macronutrients with a rate of 25% and a degree of contamination of less than 4%. Shoot apices of 15-day seedlings (two cotyledon leaves) were cultivated on SD + 0.46 μM Kin medium and the explants obtained were transplanted every month. Six macronutrients (MS, B5, SH, SD, MSm and N30K) were tested and N30K was chosen for the following experiments. Seven cytokinins (Kin, BAP, 2iP, DPU, adenine, Zeat and TDZ) at 0.46, 0.93 and 2.32 μM/l were evaluated and the addition of 0.93 μM adenine to N30n style="font-family:Verdana;">K medium favored significantly the induction of buds and the elongation of explants.
