The xni_(0.83)Co_(0.15)Cu_(0.02)Fe_(1.9)O_(4-δ)+PbZr_(0.52)Ti_(0.48)O_(3)(PZT)particulate magneto ferroelectric composites with x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5 and 0.6 mole fraction were prepared by conventional ceramic double sintering *** presence of two phases(perovskite structure of ferroelectric phase and spinal structure of ferromagnetic phase)was confirmed by X-ray *** magnetoelectric(ME)property of the particulate composites was determined at room temperature as a function of intensity of magnetic *** temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus(L)and the internal friction(Q−1)of these particulate composites at 104.3 kHz was studied in the wide temperature range 30-420℃.The temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus in each composition of these particulate composites showed two abrupt *** minimum coincided with the ferroelectric-paraelectric Curie transition temperature(θE)and the other with the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic Curie transition temperature(θM).The internal friction measurement also showed two sharp peaks in each composition corresponding to those temperatures where the minima were noticed in the temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus behaviour.

Dielectric studies were carried out on a lead free Sodium Bismuth Titanate,nBT,(na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)TiO_(3))*** material was synthesized by conventional ceramic method(CS)and microwave sintering(MS).The presence of single phase has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy of nBT *** later technique(MS)resulted in material with high density,dielectric properties and improved *** transition temperature was observed slightly higher for microwave sintered(MS)*** modulus measurements are very sensitive property to identify the phase transitions in *** modulus(L)measurements were also employed on these samples in the frequency 136 kHz and can be studied in the wide temperature range 30℃to 400℃.The elastic behavior(L)showed a break at two temperatures(~200℃and 350℃)in both the conventional and microwave sintered *** nBT ceramics,permittivity anomalies are connected to modulus *** results are correlated with the dielectric *** behavior explained in the light of structural phase transitions in the ferroelectric ceramics.

Treatment of uveitis and scleritis patients in Malaysia

●AIM:To determine the common causes and visual outcome after treatment among uveitis and scleritis patients.●METHODS:This is a retrospective cohort observational *** consecutive clinical records of patients with newly diagnosed uveitis and scleritis over a 4-year period,from Jan.1,2017 to Dec.31,2020,were *** was collected at the presentation and included a follow-up period of one year.●RESULTS:A total of 288 patients were recruited during the study *** uveitis was the most common anatomical diagnosis(50.0%)followed by panuveitis(25.0%),scleritis(13.5%),posterior uveitis(6.9%),and intermediate uveitis(4.5%).Viral Herpes was the most common cause of infectious cases,while Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH)disease and human leucocyte antigen(HLA)B27 spondyloarthropathy were the leading causes of identifiable non-infectious *** of patients presented with unilateral,non-granulomatous uveitis with an absence of *** locations like posterior uveitis and panuveitis,and visual acuity worse than 3/60 at presentation were the factors associated with poor visual outcomes(Pnts had an identifiable cause for the uveitis and scleritis,with nearly equal distribution of infectious(n=85,29.5%)and noninfectious causes(n=84,29.2%).About 14.5%of patients were clinically blind at 1y of *** most common complication in our uveitis patients was glaucoma(47.5%),followed by cystoid macula oedema(18.9%)and cataract(13.9%).●COnCLUSIOn:Uveitis and scleritis are important causes of ocular *** are potentially blinding diseases which can have a good outcome if diagnosed and treated early.

This paper aims to create visible light driven ternary photocatalysts using zinc oxide(ZnO),cerium(IV)oxide(CeO_(2)),and carbon xerogel(CX) as constituent *** use of CeO_(2) is based on the creation of direct-Z-scheme heterojunctions with the ZnO and the consequent diminishing of charge recombination,whereas the carbon xerogel inclusion is predicted to minimize bandgap energy,decrease electro n-hole reco mbination,and boost specific surface *** re,the choice of the black-wattle tannin as a carbonaceous precursor was targeted at the development of an environmentally friendly and affordable *** existence of the hexagonal phase of zinc oxide and cubic structure of the cerium(IV) oxide in the ternary material was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,with the latter also suggesting chemical bonding between the ZnO and the CX due to the creation of zinc oxycarbide *** inclusion of the carbon xerogel provokes a significant modification in the morphology of the ternary material,resulting in an increased surface area and smaller particle *** CX/ZnO-CeO_(2) ternary composite obtains the highest photocatalytic efficiency among all the materials studied,degrading 100% of 4-chlorophenol under simulated sunlight and 68% under visible radiation,after 5 *** increased photocatalytic activity can be attributed to the formation of direct Z-scheme heterojunctions between the semiconductors,higher visible light response,and higher specific surface area,as evidenced by the results obtained by active radical scavenging,chronoamperometry,diffuse reflectance spectroscopy,and n_(2) adsorption-desorption isotherms.

BACKGROUnD Prediabetes is a well-established risk factor for major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE).However,the relationship between prediabetes and MACCE in atrial fibrillation(AF)patients has not been extensively ***,this study aimed to establish a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** To investigate a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** We used the national Inpatient Sample(2019)and relevant ICD-10 CM codes to identify hospitalizations with AF and categorized them into groups with and without prediabetes,excluding *** primary outcome was MACCE(all-cause inpatient mortality,cardiac arrest including ventricular fibrillation,and stroke)in AF-related *** Of the 2965875 AF-related hospitalizations for MACCE,47505(1.6%)were among patients with *** prediabetes cohort was relatively younger(median 75 vs 78 years),and often consisted of males(56.3%vs 51.4%),blacks(9.8%vs 7.9%),Hispanics(7.3%vs 4.3%),and Asians(4.7%vs 1.6%)than the non-prediabetic cohort(Pnificantly higher rates of hypertension,hyperlipidemia,smoking,obesity,drug abuse,prior myocardial infarction,peripheral vascular disease,and hyperthyroidism(all Pn discharged routinely(51.1%vs 41.1%),but more frequently required home health care(23.6%vs 21.0%)and had higher *** adjusting for baseline characteristics or comorbidities,the prediabetes cohort with AF admissions showed a higher rate and significantly higher odds of MACCE compared to the non-prediabetic cohort[18.6%vs 14.7%,odds ratio(OR)1.34,95%confidence interval 1.26-1.42,Pn subgroup analyses,males had a stronger association(aOR 1.43)compared to females(aOR 1.22),whereas on the race-wise comparison,Hispanics(aOR 1.43)and Asians(aOR 1.36)had a stronger association with MACCE with prediabetes vs whites(aOR 1.33)and blacks(aOR 1.21).COnCLUSIOn This population-

A low power, eco-friendly multipurpose thermoelectric refrigerator

There has been an immense endeavor to mitigate global warming in spite of which it has only been worse. This paper presents the design and imple- mentation of a low power and eco-friendly refrigeration system using the thermoelectric effect. The conventional refrigerators make use of complex mechanisms which involves synchronous operation of various units, namely the compressor, condensers, expansion valves, evaporator, refi＇igerant and so on. But a thermoelectric refrigerator exploits the principle of the Peltier effect, thus avoiding the utilization of these complex components. This even helps curb the release of harmful chlorofluorocarbons （CFCs） into the atmosphere which contributes to the increase in global temperature. Moreover, the temperature can be controlled and set to required values with the help of a microcontroller. Hence, this can be used both for domestic and commercial purposes. The unit does not eject any harmful gases. Therefore, the heat expelled from the unit can be tapped for heating utilities, making the use of this device versatile in its application. Thus this proposal aims not only at reducing the air pollutants by not contributing to it but also at reducing the power consumption.

Annealing effects on the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles with PVA and CA as chelating agents

The effects of annealing temperatures and chelating agents on the structural and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles were *** average particle size of ZnO nanoparticles increased with increase of annealing *** decrease of the full width at half maximum(FWHM)with increasing annealing temperatures inferred increase of particle/grain *** grain sizes were also observed to be increased with increase of annealing *** the absorption spectra of the samples,the absorption was red-shifted and the energy band gap was blue-shifted with increase of annealing temperatures.A sharp UV emission peak was observed and the intensity of this peak increased with annealing temperatures corresponding to the high crystallinity in the *** high annealing temperature of 700℃,ZnO exhibited a less intense deep level *** negligible deep level emission was attributed to the oxygen vacancies created at higher annealing temperatures.

Efficacy of a Diabetes Specific nutritional Supplement (DSnS) on Glycemic Response in Prediabetic Adults: A Two-Armed, Open-Labelled Randomized Controlled Study

It is well known that Diabetes Specific nutritional Supplements (DSnSs) are linked to improved glycemic control in individuals with diabetes. However, data on efficacy of DSnSs in prediabetics is limited. This was a two-armed, open-labelled, randomized controlled six-week study on 199 prediabetics [30 - 65 years;Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) 5.7% - 6.4% and/or Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) 100-125 mg/dl]. Two parallel phases were conducted: Acute Blood Glucose Response (ABGR) and Intervention phase. Prediabetic participants were randomized into test (n = 100) and control (n = 99). The primary objective was to assess the ABGR of DSnS versus an isocaloric snack, measured by incremental Area under the Curve (iAUC). Test and control received 60 g of DSnS and 56 g of isocaloric snack (cornflakes) respectively, both in 250 ml double-toned milk on visit days 1, 15, 29 and 43. Postprandial Blood Glucose (PPG) was estimated at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes. During the 4 weeks intervention phase, the test group received DSnS with lifestyle counselling (DSnS + LC) and was compared with the control receiving lifestyle counselling alone (LC alone). Impact was studied on FBG, HbA1C, anthropometry, body composition, blood pressure, nutrient intake, and physical activity. The impact of DSnS was also studied using CGM between two 14-day phases: CGM1 baseline (days 1 - 14) and CGM2 endline (days 28 - 42). DSnS showed significantly lower PPG versus isocaloric snack at 30 (p 12, and chromium were reported by DSnS + LC versus LC alone. no other significant changes were reported between groups. It may be concluded that DSnS may be considered as a snack for prediabetic or hyperglycemic individuals requiring nutritional support for improved glycemic control.

Transition metal selenides have attracted great interest in electrochemical energy storage applications because of their good electrochemical activity and conductivity ***,we reported the metal molybdenum selenide(M Se/Mo_(3)Se_(4)(M:Zn,Mn,and ni))electrode materials on their morphological and electrochemical properties by varying the metal ions via a facile hydrothermal *** effects of the structural,morphological,and surface area properties of the prepared powder materials on their electrochemical performance were *** to the hierarchical porous and unique interconnected structure,the nickel molybdenum selenide nanosheet spheres(nMS nSSs)-based electrode material delivered an excellent specific capacity value of 252 mAh g^(-1) at a current density of 1 Ag^(-1).Moreover,the optimized nMS nSSs electrode exhibited outstanding cycling stability with a capacity retention of 80%and a corresponding coulombic efficiency of 99%after 80,000 ***,a pouch-type hybrid supercapacitor(HSC)device was assembled using nMS nSSs material as a positive electrode and activated carbon as a negative electrode in 1 M aqueous KOH ***,the assembled HSC device exhibited superior energy and power density values as well as magnificent cycling *** real-time practical applications,light-emitting diodes and a digital display were powered using two series-connected HSC ***,the obtained tremendous results strongly suggest that the niSe/Mo_(3)Se_(4) nSSs-based materials could be a promising electrode for ultralong-life energy storage applications.
