Background: A disturbed glucose metabolism is quite common during pregnancy. It is due to the diabetogenic potential of pregnancy and responsible for many obstetric complications. The glycated hemoglobin is one of the markers used to depict these disorders. Higher concentrations of this marker would be associated with unfavorable results of pregnancy. Objective: To describe the profile of HbA1c in non-diabetic preeclamptic pregnant women and to establish the association between the values of this marker and the maternal and fetal complications. Materials and Method: This is a case-control study of 142 pregnant women in their second and third trimester. They were followed in the maternity hospitals of University clinics and the General Reference Hospital in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of congo between May and October 2019. The sampling of preeclamptic pregnant women was exhaustive. controls were healthy pregnant women carrying pregnancies of the same type and of the same gestational age as the cases. Ultimately, 71 were preeclamptic and 71 healthy (controls). HbA1c was determined by immunoturbidimetry. Results: A total of 142 pregnant women took part in this study consisting of 71 preeclamptic women (cases) and 71 healthy pregnant women (controls). The average age of these pregnant women was 28.8 ± 6.8 (28.2 ± 6.8 years vs 29.5 ± 6.8 years p = 0.559), with an average parity of 2.3 ± 1.5 (2.2 ± 1.7 vs 2.4 ± 1.2, p = 0.005). The majority were carriers of monofoetal pregnancy. Higher HbA1c values were observed in the preeclamptic pregnant women compared to the controls (5.7 ± 1.3% vs 4.8 ± 0.7%, p 0.001). The proportion of pregnant women with pathological HbA1c values (>5.6%) was also higher in the group of preeclamptic pregnant women (46.5% vs 9.9%, p conclusion: This study established that 46.5% of non-diabetic pregnant women with preeclampsia have high HbA1c values, which moreover are associated with preeclampsia and its complications. High-spin states in 179Au have been studied experimentally by using the 149Sm(35cl, 5n) reaction at beam energies of 164-180 MeV. The 35c1 beam was provided by the tandem accelerator at the japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (jAERI). The target is an isotopically enriched 149Sm metallic foil of 1.5 mg/cm2 thickness with a 5.0 mg/cm2 Pb backing. Single crystal of Eu3þ-doped cadmium molybdate(cd0.9268M0.0244Eu0.0488MoO_(4),where M denotes cationic vacancies)has been successfully grown by the czochralski method in air and under 1 MPa.X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that as-grown single crystal exhibits tetragonal scheelite-type structure(a=b=5.16188(14)Å;c=11.2080(5)Å;space group I41/a).Eu^(3+) þions do not show long-range order and they are randomly distributed in cdMoO_(4) framework substituting cd^(2+ )þ*** diffuse reflectance measurements revealed very close optical band gap(Eg)values,i.e.-1.74 eV along[100]and[001]crystallographic directions that are twice smaller than Eg of microcrystalline pure cdMoO_(4) as well as powder Eu3þ-doped single *** and electrical studies of Eu3þ-doped cadmium molybdate single crystal showed a paramagnetic and n-type semiconducting behaviour with the metal-insulator transition above 350 K along both crystallographic *** results analysis using the cole-cole fit function revealed that the dipole relaxation process has different time scale depending on the crystallographic direction and exhibits Arrhenius temperature dependence for both studied *** fact is accompanied by the colossal dielectric permittivity withεr>8,*** above results are considered in the framework of narrow europium multiplets of energy comparable to thermal energy.

n-doped p-type ZnO thin films were grown by plasma-molecular beam epitaxy (P-MBE) on c-plane sapphire (Al2O3) using radical nO as oxygen source and nitrogen dopant. The grown ZnO thin films show p-type conduction with a hole concentration of 1.3×1017 cm-3, and a mobility of 1.5 cm2v-1s-1 at 200K, while with increase of temperature, p-type conduction becomes unstable gradually. Hypobaric hypoxia (HH) exposure can cause serious brain injury as well as life-threatening cerebral edema in severe cases. Previous studies on the mechanisms of HH-induced brain injury have been conducted primarily using non-primate animal models that are genetically distant to humans, thus hindering the development of disease treatment. Here, we report that cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) exposed to acute HH developed human-like HH syndrome involving severe brain injury and abnormal behavior. Transcriptome profiling of white blood cells and brain tissue from monkeys exposed to increasing altitude revealed the central role of the HIF-1 and other novel signaling pathways, such as the vitamin D receptor (VDR) signaling pathway, in co-regulating HH-induced inflammation processes. We also observed profound transcriptomic alterations in brains after exposure to acute HH, including the activation of angiogenesis and impairment of aerobic respiration and protein folding processes, which likely underlie the pathological effects of HH-induced brain injury. Administration of progesterone (PROG) and steroid neuroprotectant 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol (TRIOL) significantly attenuated brain injuries and rescued the transcriptomic changes induced by acute HH. Functional investigation of the affected genes suggested that these two neuroprotectants protect the brain by targeting different pathways, with PROG enhancing erythropoiesis and TRIOL suppressing glutamate-induced excitotoxicity. Thus, this study advances our understanding of the pathology induced by acute HH and provides potential compounds for the development of neuroprotectant drugs for therapeutic treatment.
