A two-dimensional(2D)/2D hybrid heterojunction with face-to-face interfacial assembly is a desirable dimensionality design with significant potential for various photocatalytic applications due to the large interfacial contact area,which facilitates charge migration and ***,we developed an ef-ficient 2D/2D hybrid heterojunction consisting of BiOIO 3 nanoplates(BIO)and g-C_(3)n_(4) nanosheets(Cn)using a simple but effective in situ growth method for photocatalytic aqueous antibiotic degradation and H_(2) *** face-to-face interfacial assembly of the BIO and Cn components in the BIO/Cn hy-brid heterojunction was verified using electron ***,the BIO/Cn hybrid heterojunc-tion outperformed both the BIO and Cn counterparts in terms of norfloxacin degradation and H_(2) gen-eration under simulated solar light ***,the photocatalytic performance of the hybrid catalyst remained nearly unchanged throughout five consecutive test *** exceptional performance and stability of the hybrid catalyst are attributable to its extended optical absorption range,large interfa-cial contact area provided by the face-to-face assembly in the 2D/2D hybrid configuration,and enhanced photoexcited charge separation efficiency and redox power of the separated charges,which are supported by an efficient S-scheme charge transfer *** study illuminates the rational construction of novel 2D/2D S-scheme hybrid heterojunction photocatalysts with practical applications in environmental remediation and sustainable energy generation.

Can antioxidants predispose to cancer recurrence?

Objective:To measure and compare pre- and post-treatment levels of serum total glutathione -S-transferase(GST) in stageⅣcervical cancer patients and erythrocytic glutathione(GSH) and malondialdehyde(MDA) and plasma ceruloplasmin(CP) and total GST in stageⅣoral cancer patients and to correlate with the response to treatment during a two year follow-up period in respective cancer ***:Thirty-four biopsy-proven stageⅣoral cancer and cervical cancer patients(n=17 in each group) who underwent same mode of treatment were chosen for this *** MDA and GSH,CP and serum total GST were measured in all patients before the onset of treatment,and the GST level was only measured in cervical cancer patients after *** levels were compared with their respective prognosis in 2 ***:Oral cancer patients with higher pretreatment levels of GSH,CP and GST came with cancer recurrence within 2 years after the onset of *** cancer patients with higher post radiotherapy levels of serum total GST had higher recurrence ***: This study indicates there may be a role for these antioxidant parameters namely GST,GSH,CP in assessment of long term survival and prognosis of cancer patients.

near-net-Shaped Objects of RE123 Superconductors byInfiltration Processing

The fabrication of near-net-shaped objects of RE123 superconductors by 'infiltration processing' is discussed. near-net-shape processing involves the infiltration of preshaped porous green bodies of either 211 or yttria phases by liquids containing barium cuprates and copper oxides followed by a controlled peritectic solidification. The process yields poly- and also single-crystalline superconducting objects with a shrinkage of less than half of one percent of the green bodies. The preservation of the initial structure of the green bodies results in fabrication of RE 123 in a wide variety of dimensions and complex shapes. The demonstrated products include bulk components like cylinders, single domain thick films on a variety of substrates, freestanding fabrics and open porous superconducting foams. This paper presents a comprehensive description of the infiltration processing technique and the resulting microstructures of the superconducting bodies. The advantages of this technique and practical applications of the processed superconducting structures are highlighted.

Ground-Based In Situ Measurements of near-Surface Aerosol Mass Concentration over Anantapur:Heterogeneity in Source Impacts

Surface measurements of aerosol physical properties were made at Anantapur （14.62°n, 77.65°E, 331 m a.s.l）, a semiarid rural site in India, during August 2008-July 2009. Measurements included the segregated sizes of aerosolsas as well as total mass concentration and size distributions of aerosols measured at low relative humidity （RH〈75%） using a Quartz Crystal Microbalance （QCM） in the 25-0.05 um aerodynamic diameter range. The hourly average total surface aerosol mass concentration in a day varied from 15 to 70 ug m-3, with a mean value of 34.02±9.05 ug m-3 for the entire study period. A clear diurnal pattern appeared in coarse, accumulation and nucleation-mode particle concentrations, with two local maxima occurring in early morning and late evening hours. The concentration of coarse-mode particles was high during the summer season, with a maximum concentration of 11.81±0.98 ug m-3 in the month of April, whereas accumulationmode concentration was observed to be high in the winter period contributed 〉68% to the total aerosol mass concentration. Accumulation aerosol mass fraction, Af （= Ma/Mt） was highest during winter （mean value of Af -0.80） and lowest （Af - 0.64） during the monsoon season. The regression analysis shows that both Reff and Rm are dependent on coarse-mode aerosols. The relationship between the simultaneous measurements of daily mean aerosol optical depth at 500 nm （AOD500） and PM2.5 mass concentration （[PM2.5]） shows that surface-level aerosol mass concentration increases with the increase in columnar aerosol optical depth over the observation period.

novel continuous single-step synthesis of nitrogen-modified TiO_2 by flame spray pyrolysis for photocatalytic degradation of phenol in visible light

A novel rapid and continuous process has developed for the synthesis of nitrogen-doped TiO2（n-TiO2）with flame spray pyrolysis（FSP） method. The nitrogen incorporation into TiO2 was achieved by a facile modification（addition of dilute nitric acid） in the precursor for the synthesis. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The doping of nitrogen into the TiO2 was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and energy dispersive X-ray（EDX） spectroscopy. The UV-vis spectra of the modified catalysts（with primary n source） exhibited band-gap narrowing for 4 n-TiO2 with band gap energy of 2.89 eV, which may be due to the presence of nitrogen in TiO2 structure. The introduction of secondary n-source（urea） into TiO2 crystal lattice results in additional reduction of the band gap energy to 2.68 eV and shows a significant improvement of visible light absorption. The n-TiO2 nanoparticles modified by using secondary n-source showed significant photocatalytic activity under visible light much higher than TiO2. The higher activity is attributed to the synergetic interaction of nitrogen with the TiO2 lattice. The lowering of the band-gap energy for the flame made n-doped TiO2 materials implies that the nitrogen doping in TiO2 by aerosol method is highly effective in extending the optical response of TiO2 in the visible region. The nitrogen atomic percentage has increased monotonically（0.09%-0.15%）with the increase in primary nitrogen source（nitric acid）, and significantly boosted to 0.97% when secondary nitrogen source（urea） was introduced. The highest rate of phenol degradation was obtained for catalysts with secondary n source due to increase in n content in the catalyst.

Circular RnAs(circRnAs)are a recently dis-covered type of non‐coding RnA derived from pre‐mRnAs.R‐loops consist of a DnA:RnA hybrid andthe associated single‐stranded ***-dopsis thaliana,circRnA:DnA R‐loops regulatealternative splicing(AS)ofSEPALLATA3(SEP3).However,the occurrence and functions ofcircRnAs and R‐loops inPopulus trichocarpaarelargely ***,we performed circRnA‐enriched sequencing in the stem‐differentiatingxylem(SDX)*** identified 2,742distinct circRnAs,including circ‐CESA4,circ‐IRX7,and circ‐GUX1,which are generated from genesinvolved in cellulose,and hemicellulose biosyn-thesis,*** investigate the roles ofcircRnAs in modulating alternative splicing(AS),we detected 7,836 AS events using PacBio Iso‐Seq and identified 634 circRnAs that overlappedwith 699 AS ***,using DnA:RnAhybrid immunoprecipitation followed by se-quencing(DRIP‐seq),we identified 8,932 R‐looppeaks that overlapped with 181 circRnAs and 672AS ***,several SDX‐related circRnAsoverlapped with R‐loop peaks,pointing to theirpossible roles in modulating AS in ***,overexpressing circ‐IRX7increased the levels ofR‐loop structures and decreased the frequency ofintron retention in *** provides a valuable R‐loop atlas resourceand uncovers the interplay between circRnAs andAS in SDX ***.

Experimental Investigation on the Performance of Armour Grade Q&T Steel Joints Fabricated by Flux Cored Arc Welding with Low Hydrogen Ferritic Consumables

Quenched and Tempered （Q＆T） steels are widely used in the construction of military vehicles due to its high strength to weight ratio and high hardness. These steels are prone to hydrogen induced cracking （HIC） and softening in the heat affected zone （HAZ） after welding. The use of austenitic stainless steel （ASS） consumables to weld the above steel was the only available remedy to avoid HIC because of higher solubility for hydrogen in austenitic phase. Recent studies revealed that low hydrogen ferritic （LHF） steel consumables can also be used to weld Q＆T steels, which can give very low hydrogen levels in the weld deposits and required resistance against cold cracking. Hence, in this investigation an attempt has been made to study the performance of armour grade Q＆T steel joints fabricated by flux cored arc welding with LHF steel consumables. Two different consumables namely （i） austenitic stainless steel and （ii） low hydrogen ferritic steel have been used to fabricate the joints by flux cored arc welding （FCAW） process. The joints fabricated by LHF consumable exhibited superior transverse tensile properties due to the presence of ferrite microstructure in weld metal. The joints fabricated by ASS consumable showed higher impact toughness due to the presence of austenitic phase in weld metal microstructure. The HAZ softening in coarse grain heat affected zone （CGHAZ） is less in the joints fabricated using LHF consumable due to the lower heat input involved during fabrication compared to the joints fabricated using ASS consumables.

Selective separation, detection of zotepine and mass spectral characterization of degradants by LC–MS/MS/QTOF

A simple, precise, accurate stability-indicating gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic （RP-HPLC） method was developed for the quantitative determination of zotepine （ZTP） in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms in the presence of its degradation products （DPs）. The method was developed using Phenomenex C18 column （250 mm ~ 4.6 mm i.d., 5 mm） with a mobile phase containing a gradient mixture of solvents, A （0.05%trifluoroacetic acid （TFA）, pH ？ 3.0） and B （acetonitrile）. The eluted compounds were monitored at 254 nm;the run time was within 20.0 min, in which ZTP and its DPs were well separated, with a resolution of 41.5. The stress testing of ZTP was carried out under acidic, alkaline, neutral hydrolysis, oxidative, photolytic and thermal stress conditions. ZTP was found to degrade significantly in acidic, photolytic, thermal and oxidative stress conditions and remain stable in basic and neutral conditions. The developed method was validated with respect to specificity, linearity, limit of detection, limit of quantification, accuracy, precision and robustness as per ICH guidelines. This method was also suitable for the assay determination of ZTP in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The DPs were characterized by LC-MS/MS and their fragmentation pathways were proposed.

Socio-Economic and Scientific Impact Created by Whitefly-Transmitted,Plant-Virus Disease Resistant Tomato Varieties in Southern India

Research carried out to assess the impact of open-pollinated Tomato leaf curl virus（ToLCV）-resistant tomatoes and hybrids on the livelihoods of resource-poor farmers in Southern India is described and *** high-yielding ToLCV-resistant tomato varieties were developed initially using conventional breeding and screening techniques involving inoculation by ToLCV-viruliferous whitefly,Bemisia *** 2003 and 2004,respectively,these varieties were released officially by the Karnataka State Seed Committee and the Indian Ministry of Agriculture through notification in the Gazette of *** 2003 to 2005,eleven seed companies bought breeder seed of the ToLCV-resistant varieties and used them to begin breeding F1 hybrids from ***-economic studies carried out to assess the benefits obtained from growing the ToLCV-resistant varieties found that farmers could gain up to 10 times the profit by growing the ToLCV-resistant varieties compared to the pre-existing ToLCV-susceptible *** of ToLCV-resistant tomatoes was also associated with reduced pesticide *** income from tomato sales was prioritised by farmers to pay for children＇s education,better nutrition and *** a joint effort with the commercial seed sector in India,a promotional field day was organised in *** well as the three ToLCV-resistant varieties,62 ToLCV-resistant hybrid tomatoes were exhibited during a farmer-field day by 17 commercial seed companies and several public *** with ToLCV-resistance are now grown widely in South India and seeds of the three open-pollinated varieties have been distributed to more than 12 *** 2007,a conservative estimate of the financial-benefit to cost of the research ratio was already more than 837：1.

Perturbations in Earth's Atmosphere over An Indian Region during the Total Solar Eclipse on 22 July 2009

During a total solar eclipse(TSE) on 22 July 2009, atmospheric perturbations were monitored from the surface to thermosphere to understand TSE’s impact on the meteorological(temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction) and chemical(O3and nOx) parameters around Kadapa(14.28°n, 78.42°E), a tropical semi-arid region of India. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted at Yogi Vemana University Campus, Kadapa, India, to measure the temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and concentrations of ozone(O3), nO, nO2, and nOxby using the automatic weather station(AWS) and O3analyzer. On the eclipse day(22 July 2009), the surface observations at Kadapa showed a reduction in temperature(about 1.1°C) because of the solar insulation. Comparison of the thermal,dynamical(wind), and chemical parameters on the TSE day with control days [preceding(21 July 2009) and succeeding(23 July 2009) the TSE] illustrated the influence of solar eclipse. During the eclipse period, the O3mixing ratio decreased, while nO2and nOxincreased; however, nO remained unchanged. In addition, radio occultation(RO)temperature profiles from Constellation Observing System for Meteorology, Ionosphere, and Climate(COSMIC)/Formosat Satellite Mission(FORMOSAT-3) and Thermosphere, Ionosphere, and Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics(TIMED) satellites were utilized to understand the impact of TSE on dynamics of the middle and upper atmosphere from tropopause to the thermosphere. High vertical resolution COSMIC observations revealed that during the solar eclipse, tropopause was cooler with twin peaks(double tropopause). The lower thermosphere between 110 and 130 km became warmer during the TSE, which might be caused by the dynamical response of the atmosphere in this region to the solar eclipse. The experimental data have provided very fine-scale variations of the atmospheric parameters both in time and height and also constituted a new set of results on TSE for further research.
