A new Record of Acanthodactylus cantoris(Sauria: Lacertidae) and Its Comparison with Closely Related A. blanfordi in Southeastern Iran

A new record of Acanthodactylus cantoris from Sistan and Baluchistan in southeastern Iran is presented in this paper,and this lizard is found occurring in the coastal area of the Persian Gulf from Govater to Chabahar. This species is mainly sympatric with A. blanfordi,and their habits and habitats support their close relationship within the cantoris group. In total,29 specimens of A. cantoris(n = 12) and A. blanfordi(n = 17) were compared morphologically using statistical methods. The occurrence of A. cantoris in Iran has been questioned for a long time by different herpetologists,and the distribution,ecology and taxonomy of this newly recorded species were investigated and provided in this paper. An updated identification key for the species of Acanthodactylus in Iran is given.

A simple and reliable method for the extraction and determination of trace amounts of copper（Ⅱ） ions using activated carbon （AC） impregnated by a new Schiff base 5-[（4-heptyloxyphenyl）azo]-n-（4-propyloxyphenyl）-salicylaldimine （HPPS） and atomic absorption spectrometry is presented. Recovery efficiency and the influence of pH value, volume of sample solution, effect of different eluents, and interfering ions were evaluated. The limit of detection （3σ） was 2.62 ***^-1 and the relative standard deviation （n=10） was 1.5%. Under optimum conditions, the copper ions were concentrated 25 fold using 250 mL of sample solution and 10 mL of eluent. This procedure has been successfully applied to the determination of copper in different water samples.

In order to develop a sensor for the detection of toxic n2O molecules, the interaction of pristine and Aldoped Bn nanosheets with an n2O molecule was investigated using density functional theory calculations. It was found that unlike the pristine sheet, the Al-doped sheet can effectively interact with the n2O molecule so that its electronic properties and conductivity are dramatically changed. We believe that replacing a B atom of the Bn sheet with an Al atom may be a good strategy for improving the sensitivity of these nanosheets toward n2O, which cannot be trapped and detected by the pristine sheet.

Previous studies on the Bufo viridis complex, which is distributed broadly across Iran, are incomplete and restricted to a few regions or a few samples. In this paper a new detailed study on the B. viridis complex in southern of Iran （from West to East） is presented. The analysis of 18 morphometric characters with univariate and multivariate methods reveals significant differences between three members of the B. viridis complex namely B. variabilis, B. luristanicus, and B. surdus distributed in southern part of Iran. Our result help to resolve an old taxonomic problem about B. surdus subgroup （taxa closely related to B. surdus） confirming that B. luristanicus and B. surdus are distinct species. Moreover, for the first time we report and describe karyotype details of B. luristanicus and B. surdus which confirmed that they are diploid. Karyological studies demonstrate that all toads from three mentioned species have 2n = 22 chromosomes. These chromosomes are arranged into two groups. First group has six large chromosomes and the second group is composed of five small chromosomes. These chromosomes are metacentric or submetacentric. The number of submetacentric chromosomes is different in three mentioned species of B. viridis complex. neither sexual heteromorphism, nor secondary constriction was observed in any pairs of chromosomes.
