This study elaborates on the design,fabrication,and data analysis details of SPEED,a recently proposed smartphonebased digital polymerase chain reaction(dPCR)*** dPCR chips incorporate partition diameters ranging from 50μm to 5μm,and these partitions are organized into six distinct blocks to facilitate image *** to the superior thermal conductivity of Si and its potential for mass production,the dPCR chips were fabricated on a Si substrate.A temperature control system based on a high-power density Peltier element and a preheating/cooling PCR protocol user interface shortening the thermal cycle *** optical design employs four 470 nm light-emitting diodes as light sources,with filters and mirrors effectively managing the light emitted during *** algorithm is utilized for image processing and illumination nonuniformity correction including conversion to a monochromatic format,partition identification,skew correction,and the generation of an image correction *** validated the device using a range of deoxyribonucleic acid targets,demonstrating its potential applicability across multiple ***,we provide guidance and verification of the design and testing of the recently proposed SPEED device.

Interaction between Dairy Yeasts and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in Milk

The presence of Geotrichum candidum in fresh cheese is considered to be a contaminant and may lead to the product spoilage. The oxidative yeast Candida maltosa firstly isolated from the spoiled fruit yoghurt surface in Slovakia belongs to the yeast contaminants of fermented dairy products. The effect of the cultivation temperature and the presence of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG on the growth of dairy spoilage yeasts in ultrapasteurized milk was studied. Addition of Lb. rhamnosus GG in milk caused partial inhibition of the yeast growth dynamics in milk. The water activity transformation of Gibson model after the temperature modification （Tw） was applied to model growth dynamics of G. candidum in pure and mixed culture, respectively： In μ_Gc=-5.0376＋2.7281 Tw-0.4217Tw^2, lnμ_CC_LGG=-6.0033＋3.2996Tw-0.5553Tw^2. The effect of different Lb. rhamnosus GG addition and the incubation temperature on the C. maltosa growth dynamics was analyzed by linear regression methodology and described by using following equations： lnGr1=-5.3674＋0.2341T＋0.2599n0-0.0032T^2-0.0492n0^2-0.0068Tn0 and lnGr11=-9.5457-0.249T＋2.3823n0 ＋0.0099T^2-0.2324n0^2＋0.0098Tn0 Based on the principles of predictive microbiology, the mutual microbial interactions and potential application of the lactobacillus strains in food protection are discussed.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

objective: To explore anthelmintic effects of oral administration of aqueous extract of Sauce llorón(Salix babylonica; SB) against gastrointestinal nematodes and Moniezia spp. Methods: Sixteen Pelibuey male lambs of 3-4 months of age and(23.7±3.3) kg body weight were used in a completely randomized design to be fed a total mixed ration(Control; SB0), or Control plus SB extract using 20(SB20), 40(SB40) and 60(SB60) mL/lamb/day for 45 days. Lambs had a natural gastrointestinal nematodes and Moniezia spp. infection and had never been treated with chemical anthelmintic drugs. Individual faecal samples were collected for ova counting using Mc Master procedure after 0, 7, 14, 21, 30 and 45 days post extract administration. Results: no extract dose×day interactions for both gastrointestinal nematodes and Monieziaspp. egg count were found. Administration of SB extract had a higher effect(quadratic effect, P=0.0064) at dose of 20 mL SB/lamb/day for gastrointestinal nematode eggs during the first 21 days; however, the dose of SB40 tended(linear effect, P=0.0897) to be more effective than the others for Moniezia spp. egg during the first 7 days. Sampling day had a linear(P=0.0436) effect on Moniezia spp. egg count. Conclusions: The aqueous extract of SB could be more effective against nematodes at 20 and at 40 mL/lamb/day for Moniezia spp. The use of the SB extract could represent a promising alternative to synthetic anthelmintics for the treatment of gastrointestinal nematodes and Moniezia spp. in small ruminants from organic and conventional production systems.

Experience shows that in many cases of Schistosomiasis the presence of ova in the stools is not detected by the ordinary means of examination, such as direct smear and saline concentration. But when these methods are supplemented by others the ova can be demonstrated in the faeces. 30只妊娠母羊在怀孕的第90天,经由静脉接种了母羊流行性流产(EAE)的鹦鹉病—淋巴肉芽肿—砂眼(PLT)病原物。15只对照用妊娠母羊未接种。除流产者外,分别在接种后的第20天、30天和50天解剖;流产羊则立即扑杀解剖。自接种后的第1天下午起至第6天,30只中的20只动物直肠检温为40～41℃。接种后26天死亡的母羊有不发热的。30只中的11只母羊在接种后的第6天和第44天发生了流产。没有流产前驱症状。早期流产发现的胎盘(接种后第6～11天),以及含有死胎和软化胎儿的胎盘,已经自溶。接种后35～44天流产母羊的胎盘,具有典型的母羊流行性流产的病变,母羊的外生殖器及后肢见有黄褐色无臭粘性渗出物附着。未流产母羊胎盘的肉眼变化为:绒毛尿囊膜的早期水肿及红褐色渗出液在胎盘小体内和周围的潴积。显微镜下的早期变化为:中隔顶端的坏死及在胎盘门部见中隔细胞、绒毛膜细胞和血肿囊的感染。感染区有轻度炎症反应。当病机进展,则感染漫延至胎盘小体深部及胎盘小体间。结果造成内含本病病原物的粘性血样脓性渗出物的潴积。本病进行期的特徵是胎盘小体和绒毛膜的广泛性坏死。与此种变化有关的是显明的中性多形核白血球占优势的炎症反应。子宫见浆细胞浸润。子宫内膜细胞感染。母羊流行性流产又名羊病毒性流产(ova)是一种PLT族微生物引起的传染病。病的特徵是没有明显临床症状的流产。病母羊产出未成熟的活的、死的、弱的或临床正常的羔羊。目前,对PLT感染的各方面已作了大量的研究。很多研究指出:PLT病原物是爱好在胎盘生长的。但迄今为止,很少见到致力于PLT病原物感染胎盘的病理变化的分析。本研究在于解决:用EAE病原物作实验性感染绵羊盘胎的肉眼及显微镜变化的形态形成(morphogenesis)。

Treatment with Enterococcus faecalis CECT7121 Is not Effective as Therapy in Mice with an Established Allergy Status

In allergies, an unbalanced immune response towards a T helper (Th) 2 profile with high levels of Immunoglobulin (Ig) E is produced. We have demonstrated that the pre-administration of Enterococcus faecalis CECT7121 prevents the development of allergy in ovalbumin-immunized mice. In this work, we evaluated whether this bacterium can also revert an established allergic status. Mice were immunized with ovalbumin (ova) and after that, were inoculated with an E. faecalis CECT7121 suspension. In immunized animals, serum specific immune response, proliferative activity of memory splenocytes, and levels of Th2 cytokines were assessed. The in vivo active cutaneous anaphylaxis test was also performed. The treatment with E. faecalis CECT7121 only increased anti-ova IgG2a levels. no differences were observed in other specific immunological parameters. Probiotic-treatment did not prove to have any desensitizing effect on mice. These results, together with those recently published, can be concluded that this bacterium would not be appropriate for the treatment of allergic symptoms.
