Dust particle surface potential in an argonhelium plasma using the(r,q)-distribution function

In this paper, the dust particle surface potential for argon-helium plasma is evaluated analytically and numerically in the context of negatively charged dust particles by employing a power-law(r, q)-distribution function. Recent studies have reported the argon-helium plasma and conducted a brief theoretical and experimental survey. To deepen our understanding further, this study aims to analyze the argon-helium plasma comprehensively using the same pattern but with the(r, q)-distribution function. For this purpose, the current balance equations are derived for electron, helium and argon ions, when these charge species attain the quasineutrality *** numerically examined the currents of plasma species for a broad range of effective distribution function parameters r and q. It is revealed that the surface potential of dust particles is significantly affected by the parameters r and q, helium ion-to-electron temperature ratio,argon ion-to-electron temperature ratio, and helium ion to argon ion number density ratio. By incorporating the multi-ion(argon-helium) species, the significance of low-temperature nonmaxwellian dusty(complex) plasma is briefly examined.

In-situ study of the microstructure evolution during tension of a mg-Y-Zn-Al alloy processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation technique

mg-Y-Zn-Al alloys processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation(RSRC)technique exhibit an exceptional mechanical performance indicating promising application *** material has a bimodal microstructure consisting of fine recrystallized and coarse non-recrystallized grains with solute-rich stacking faults forming cluster arranged layers(CALs)and nanoplates(CAnaPs),or complete long period stacking ordered(LPSO)*** order to reveal the deformation mechanisms,in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction line profile analysis was employed for a detailed study of the dislocation arrangement created during tension in mg-0.9%Zn-2.05%Y-0.15%Al(at%)*** uncovering the effect of the initial microstructure on the mechanical performance,additional samples were obtained by annealing of the as-consolidated specimen at 300 and 400℃ for 2 *** heat treatment at 300℃ had no significant effect on the initial microstructure,its evolution during tension and,thus,the overall deformation behavior under tensile *** the other hand,annealing at 400℃ resulted in a significant increase of the recrystallized grains fraction and a decrease of the dislocation density,leading to only minor degradation of the mechanical *** maximum dislocation density at the failure of the samples corresponding to the plastic strain of 10-25% was estimated to be about 16-20×10^(14)m^(-2).The diffraction profile analysis indicated that most dislocations formed during tension were of non-basal and pyramidal types,what was also in agreement with the Schmid factor values revealed independently from orientation *** was also shown that the dislocation-induced Taylor hardening was much lower below the plastic strain of 3% than above this value,which was explained by a model of the interaction between prismatic dislocations and CAnaPs/LPSO plates.

Thermal performance of domed roof in air-conditioned spaces

Due to their thermal performance,domed roofs are one of the passive solutions that affect energy consumption in *** thermal performance of domed roofs has been investigated in many naturally ventilated ***,few studies have discussed their performance in conditioned ***,this study introduces a computational comparison between domed and flat roofs to investigate their impact on thermal comfort inside a conditioned *** an earlier stage,field measurements were carried out inside a Bahraini mosque to acquire its indoor air conditions during the summer period of 2021,in addition to validating the computational *** findings of this study confirm that,under mechanical cooling conditions,the flat roof offers a lower indoor temperature than the domed roof by 0.4℃and 0.1℃for open and closed doors,***,the air velocity is lower by approximately 0.01 m/s for both door *** overall PmV values of the flat roof are also lower by 0.07 and 0.01,while the PPD values are lower by 0.20,and 0.34 for open and closed doors,*** on these small differences,it can be concluded that the thermal performance of both roofing systems behaves equally in conditioned ***,the air patterns are substantially different,the overall thermal performance is *** similarity drives building designers to rethink the thermal performance of the domed roofs in air-conditioned spaces with such a hot climate,regardless of their aesthetic and acoustical behaviour.

Ion heat transport in electron cyclotron resonance heated L-mode plasma on the T-10 tokamak

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second-harmonic extra-ordinary mode. Predictive modeling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat conductivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated ion temperature could be overestimated, so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To study this effect two scans are presented: over the EC resonance position and over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field side to the low-field side by variation of the toroidal magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented with on-axis and mixed ECRH regimes. Discharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained in all considered regimes. In these discharges the power balance ion heat conductivity exceeds the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are distinguished by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized electron density gradient R/■, and the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

In view of the current study’s demonstration of the synthesis of clay-doped ZnO composites,we present a low-cost method for producing clay-metal oxide(clay/ZnO).Utilizing the solution combustion technique,a composite of clay/ZnO was produced utilizing citric acid as both a fuel and a complexing *** hexagonal unit cell structure of the created clay/ZnO may be seen using XRD *** ZnO-infused clay was visible in FE-SEm micrographs as homogenous,sphere-shaped *** possible involvement of clay/ZnO photocatalytic activity in the UV-induced photodegradation of malachite green dye was *** 90%degradation rate shows the composite’s outstanding photocatalytic degradation *** resulting substance was electrochemically analyzed using a constructed electrode in 0.1 m KOH *** increased its sensor capabilities,which now include chemical and biomolecule sensors,and it excelled in cyclic voltammetry-based redox potential *** efficiently evaluate chemically synthesized nPs for electrochemical,sensing,and photocatalytic applications,this study intends to create a solution combustion procedure for the synthesis of clay/ZnO nanocomposite using urea as fuel.

Greatly enhanced corrosion/wear resistances of epoxy coating for mg alloy through a synergistic effect between functionalized graphene and insulated blocking layer

The poor corrosion and wear resistances of mg alloys seriously limit their potential applications in various *** conventional epoxy coating easily forms many intrinsic defects during the solidification process,which cannot provide sufficient *** the current study,we design a double-layer epoxy composite coating on mg alloy with enhanced anti-corrosion/wear properties,via the spin-assisted assembly *** outer layer is functionalized graphene(FG)in waterborne epoxy resin(WEP)and the inner layer is Ce-based conversion(Ce)*** FG sheets can be homogeneously dispersed within the epoxy matrix to fill the intrinsic defects and improve the barrier *** Ce film connects the outer layer with the substrate,showing the transition *** corrosion rate of Ce/WEP/FG composite coating is 2131 times lower than that of bare mg alloy,and the wear rate is decreased by~90%.The improved corrosion resistance is attributed to the labyrinth effect(hindering the penetration of corrosive medium)and the obstruction of galvanic coupling *** synergistic effect derived from the FG sheet and blocking layer exhibits great potential in realizing the improvement of multi-functional integration,which will open up a new avenue for the development of novel composite protection coatings of mg alloys.

High-temperature carbonized metal-organic frameworks(mOFs)derivatives have demonstrated their superiority for promising electromagnetic wave(EmW)absorbers,but they still suffer from limited EmW absorption capacity and narrow *** the advantage of microstructure and chemical composition regulation for the design of EmW absorber,hierarchical heterostructured moS_(2)/CoS_(2)-Co_(3)O_(4)@cabonized cotton fabric(CF)(mCC@CCF)is prepared by growing ZIF-67 mOFs onto CF surface,chemical etching,and *** from the dual loss mechanism of magnetic-dielectric multicomponent carbonized mOFs,chemical etching and carbonization process can effectively introduce abundant micro-gap structure that can result in better impedance matching and stronger absorption capacity via internal reflection,doped heteroatoms(mo,n,S)to supply additional dipolar polarization loss,and numerous heterointerfaces among moS_(2),CoS_(2),Co_(3)O_(4),and CCF that produce promoted conduction loss and interfacial polarization ***,a minimal reflection loss of−52.87 dB and a broadest effective absorption bandwidth of 6.88 GHz were achieved via tunning the sample thickness and filler loading,showing excellent EmW absorption *** research is of great value for guiding the research on mOFs derivatives based EmW absorbing materials.

Solar-assisted photocatalytic water splitting using defective UiO-66 solids from modulated synthesis

metal-organic frameworks(mOFs)are attracting increasing interests as photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen production from *** paper reports on a comparative study of using either acetic acid(AA)or trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)as the representative UiO-66 organic modulators for synthesizing visible light responsive UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))photocatalysts for water *** results show that photocatalytic hydrogen generation from a water/methanol mixture can be improved by varying the nature and amount of the modulator employed to prepare the different UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))solid ***-66(Zr)-nH_(2) was the most active photocatalyst,followed by UiO-66(Zr)-nO_(2),both prepared with 12 equivalents of AA with respect to the organic *** UiO-66(Zr)-nH_(2) solid was more active than the parent mOF in photocatalytic overall water splitting(OWS)(H_(2) and O_(2) production of 450 and 160μmol·g^(-1),respectively,in 5 h;apparent quantum yield(AQY)at 400 nm of 0.06%)in the absence of methanol and compares favourably with analogous *** on the photocatalytic activity of the most active solids of both series was obtained by means of a series of techniques,including ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)diffuse reflectance,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),laser flash photolysis(LFP),electron spin resonance(ESR),photoluminescence and photoelectrochemical measurements together with density functional theory(DFT)*** results showed that organic acid modulators can be used to enhance the photocatalytic activity of missing linker UiO-66 defective materials in solar-powered water splitting.

DFT investigation of half-metallic ferromagnetic rare earth based spinels mgHo_(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)

Half-metallic ferromagnetism,mechanical as well as thermoelectric properties for rare earth-based spinels mgHo_(2)Z_(4)(Z=S,Se)were investigated using density functional theory(DFT).Structural optimization was done with Perdew-Burke-Ehrenzorf(PBE)sol-generalized gradient approximation(GGA)to calculate the lattice constant of both spinels comparable to experimental *** addition,Born stability criteria and negative formation energy show that our studied spinels are also structurally and dynamically stable in the cubic *** ferromagnetic(Fm)state stability,we also calculated the energy differences among Fm,antiferromagnetic(AFm),and non-magnetic(nm)***,Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic phases were also *** used Trans-Blaha improved BeckeJohnson(TB-mBJ)potential functional for electronics as well as magnetic characteristics,which lead to the consistent explanation of half-metallic ferromagnetism,representing the whole band-occupancy in material with exact detail of density of states(DOS).The stable Fm state was examined in spinels due to the exchange splitting of Ho cation consisting of p-d hybridizations compatible with the result achieved for electronics band structure and ***,spin magnetic moment was explained in terms of anion,cation,and sharing charge on studied *** addition,the calculated thermoelectric properties clearly show that operation range of these systems may be utilized by future experimental works for identifying the potential applications of these systems.
