Parallel Inference for Real-Time Machine Learning Applications

Hyperparameter tuning is a key step in developing high-performing machine learning models, but searching large hyperparameter spaces requires extensive computation using standard sequential methods. This work analyzes the performance gains from parallel versus sequential hyperparameter optimization. Using scikit-learn’s Randomized SearchCV, this project tuned a Random Forest classifier for fake news detection via randomized grid search. Setting n_jobs to -1 enabled full parallelization across CPU cores. Results show the parallel implementation achieved over 5× faster CPU times and 3× faster total run times compared to sequential tuning. However, test accuracy slightly dropped from 99.26% sequentially to 99.15% with parallelism, indicating a trade-off between evaluation efficiency and model performance. Still, the significant computational gains allow more extensive hyperparameter exploration within reasonable timeframes, outweighing the small accuracy decrease. Further analysis could better quantify this trade-off across different models, tuning techniques, tasks, and hardware.

Magnetic transitions and butterfly-shaped hysteresis of Sm-Fe-Al-based perovskite-type orthoferrite

A1 doped SmFeO3 （SmFel_xmlxO3; 0.0〈x〈0.15; step 0.05） were prepared by double sintering ceramic technique. The obtained samples were crystallized in single phase structure except the sample with x=0.15. The unit cell volume was found to decrease with increasing AI substitution in orthoferrite. The effective magnetic moment （μeff） and the Curie constant （C） were calculated from the reciprocal of the molar magnetic susceptibility （Z-1） versus absolute temperature plot and found to attain maximum value for the parent sample. The magnetic behavior showed two different magnetic transitions, viz, n6el temperature （Tn） and spin reorientation （TsR） transitions. The M-H hysteresis loop of the parent sample took butterfly-shape as a result of different contributions anisotropies. From the magnetic properties measurements, it was obviously found that B-site cation dilution resulted in a drastic decrease in the magnetization. Surprisingly large value of the coercive field was obtained for the undoped sample;Hc=6198.80e. Based on the mentioned results, one can recommend the use of such orthoferrite in magnetic recording media and as pining layer in spin valve for spin- tronic applications.

Effect of concrete buildings on the environmental neutron flux by using the reaction ^(197)Au (n,γ) ^(198)Au and extremely low level gamma ray spectroscopy

The activation of gold by environmental neutrons through the reaction 197Au (n,γ) 198Au was used to study the effect of concrete buildings on the neutron flux, and to estimate the thermal neutron flux inside and outside these buildings. The results showed that three ceilings of thickness 34 g/cm2 decrease the fast neutrons to 26% from its original value. However, the same reinforced concrete decreases the slow neturon flux to only 62% of its original value. The thermal neutron flux at 283 m from the center of Training Reactor of kinki University, was twice higher than the environmental neutron background.

Through the use of a reductive perturbation technique, solitary kinetic Alfvén waves（kAWs） are investigated in a low but finite b（particle-to-magnetic pressure ratio） dense electron–positron–ion plasma where electrons and positrons are degenerate. The degenerate plasma model considered here permits the existence of sub-Alfvénic compressive solitary kAWs. The influence of r（equilibrium positron-to-ion density ratio）, sF（electron-to-positron Fermi temperature ratio）, b and obliqueness parameter lzon various characteristics of solitary kAWs are examined through numerical plots. We have shown that there exists a critical value of lzat which a soliton width attains its maximum value which decreases with an increase in r and *** is also found that solitons with a higher energy propagate more obliquely in the direction of an ambient magnetic field. The results of the present investigation may be useful for understanding low frequency nonlinear electromagnetic wave propagation in magnetized electron–positron–ion plasmas in dense stars. Specifically, the relevance of our investigation to a pulsar magnetosphere is emphasized.

An energetic nano-fiber composite based on polystyrene and 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane fabricated via electrospinning technique

Electrospinning is a simple technique used to fabricate polymeric nano-fibrous *** nano-fibers have found a wide range of valuable applications in the biomedical ***,it has not been utilized with solid high explosives ***,the electrospinning technique has been used to fabricate polystyrene(PS)/1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazinane(RDX)composite *** governed electrospinning parameters,voltage,distance from the collector,flow rate,mandrel rotating speed,time,and solution concentration,that greatly affect the morphology of the obtained nanofibers were *** fabricated PS/RDX nano-fibers were characterized using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffractometer(XRD),and Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR)*** impact and friction sensitivities of PS/RDX were also *** thermal behavior of the prepared composite and the pure materials were studied by the thermal gravimetric analysis technique(TGA).SEM results proved the fabrication of PS/RDX fibers in the nano-size via *** spectroscopy confirmed the existence of the characteristic functional groups of both PS and RDX in the composite *** sharp peaks showed the conversion of amorphous PS into crystalline shape via electrospinning and also confirmed the formation of PS/RDX *** PS fibers absorbed the heat and increased the onset decomposition of the pure RDX from 181.5 to 200.7℃in the case of PS/RDX ***,PS/RDX nano-fibers showed the relatively low impact and friction sensitivities of 100 J and 360 n *** results could introduce PS/RDX nanofibrous composite in the field of explosives detection with high levels of safety.

Seasonal Performance of Solar Power Plants in the Sahel Region: A Study in Senegal, West Africa

The main objective of this study is to evaluate the seasonal performance of 20 MW solar power plants in Senegal. The analysis revealed notable seasonal variations in the performance of all stations. The most significant yields are recorded in spring, autumn and winter, with values ranging from 5 to 7.51 kWh/kWp/day for the reference yield and 4.02 to 7.58 kWh/kWp/day for the final yield. These fluctuations are associated with intense solar activity during the dry season and clear skies, indicating peak production. Conversely, minimum values are recorded during the rainy season from June to September, with a final yield of 3.86 kWh/kW/day due to dust, clouds and high temperatures. The performance ratio analysis shows seasonal dynamics throughout the year with rates ranging from 77.40% to 95.79%, reinforcing reliability and optimal utilization of installed capacity. The results of the capacity factor vary significantly, with March, April, May, and sometimes October standing out as periods of optimal performance, with 16% for kahone, 16% for Bokhol, 18% for Malicounda and 23% for Sakal. Total losses from solar power plants show similar seasonal trends standing out for high loss levels from June to July, reaching up to 3.35 kWh/kWp/day in June. However, using solar trackers at Sakal has increased production by up to 25%, demonstrating the operational stability of this innovative technology compared with the plants fixed panel. Finally, comparing these results with international studies confirms the outstanding efficiency of Senegalese solar power plants, other installations around the world.

Effect of insoluble materials on the volumetric behavior of rock salt
