Influence of temperature on tunneling-enhanced recombination in Si based p–i–n photodiodes

We investigate the dominant dark current transport mechanism in Si based p-i-n photodiodes, namely, BPW 21R, SFH 205FA and BPX 61 photodiodes in the temperature range of 350 to 139 K. The forward current- voltage characteristics of these photodiodes are explained via the tunneling enhanced recombination model, which gives a quantitative description of the electronic mechanism in the p-i-n junction photodiodes. The observed tem- perature dependence of the saturation current and the diode ideality factor of these devices agree well with theo- retical predictions; the analysis also indicates the importance of doping for enhancement of tunneling. The present study will be helpful in applying the devices at low temperature ambience.

A new method for the synthesis of azo Schiff an base ligand in which the azo and azomethine groups are coordination sites was developed through a Schiff base precursor. The precursor, n-4-methoxybenzylidene-3-hydroxyphenylamine （SB） derived from 3-aminophenol was regioselectively coupled with a diazonium ion para to the hydroxyl group of the amine component of the Schiff base. The para selectivity was controlled by the directing effect of the hydroxyl group. The ligand and its nickel（Ⅱ） complex were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The analytical and spectral data supported the mononuclear formulation of the complex with metal to ligand ratio （M ： L = 1 ： 2） and suggested a square planar geometry for the complex.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the Langmuir method and first-principle density functional theory(DFT).Using the Langmuir-Schaefer(LS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the LS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHnS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DFT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PABA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Linseed （Linum usitatissimum L.） is an important dual-purpose, industrial crop. Its seeds are used for the extraction of oil and stem for fibres. However, the production of linseed is not going parallel with the increasing demand of its products. The present work was carried out with an aim to find out whether exogenous application of gibberellic acid （GA3） with or without graded levels of nitrogen （n） and phosphorus （P） could improve the performance of three linseed genotypes Parvati, Shekhar and Shubhra together with minimizing the costly fertilizer input and losses. Four combinations of n and P, viz., 0 mg n＋0 mg P kg-1 soil （n0P0）, n13.4 P4.46 , n26.8P8.94 and n40.2P13.4 were constituted. Half dose of each combination was applied basally at the time of sowing and remaining half dose was given at 40 d after sowing （DAS） as foliar spray along with 10-6 mol L-1 GA3 . Prior to sowing, the seeds of each linseed genotype were grouped in to two, one group of seeds was soaked in 0 mol L-1 GA3 （control） and the other group was soaked in 10-6 M GA3 solution, each for 8 hours. Treatments were comprised of （i） 0 mol L-1 GA3＋n0P0 （T0 , control）, （ii） 10-6 mol L-1 GA3 ＋ n13.4P4.46 （T1）, （iii） 10-6 mol L-1 GA 3 ＋n 26.8 P 8.94 （T2） and （iv） 10-6 mol L-1 GA3＋n40.2P13.4 （T3）. The crop performance was assessed in terms of growth, physiological and biochemical parameters at 60 and 75 DAS and yield attributes at harvest （175 DAS）. The results showed a parallel increase in most of the parameters with increasing levels of n and P. However, application of 10-6 mol L-1 GA3 in association with n26.8P8.94 proved best, it enhanced seed yield, oil yield and fibre yield by 83.3, 97.3 and 78.7%, respectively accompanied with increase in net photosynthetic rate, carbonic anhydrase activity and dry matter accumulation. The 2D Pauli equation with Hulthen potential for spin-1/2 particle in the presence of Aharonov-Bohm （AB） field is solved analytically, on the assumption that an effective approximation is used for the centrifugal term. Singular and regular solutions of the problem are obtained. It is shown that the AB field lifts the degeneracy of the energy levels. The range of the flux parameter for which singular solutions are allowed is modified compared to the pure AB case. When the screening parameter vanishes, it is shown that the obtained energy spectrum becomes the same as that of the Aharonov-Bohm Coulomb problem.

A subgroup H of G is said to be:σ-permutable or σ-quasinormal in G if G possesses a complete Hall σ-set H such that HAx= AxH for all A ∈ H and x ∈ G:σ-subnormal in G if there is a subgroup chain A = A0≤A1≤···≤ At = G such that either Ai-1■Ai or Ai/(Ai-1)Ai is a finite σi-group for some σi ∈σ for all i = 1,..., *** Mn n-1 n, then Mn is said to be an n-maximal subgroup of G. If each n-maximal subgroup of G is σ-subnormal(σ-quasinormal,respectively) in G but, in the case n > 1, some(n-1)-maximal subgroup is not σ-subnormal(not σ-quasinormal,respectively) in G, we write mσ(G)= n(mσq(G)= n, respectively).In this paper, we show that the parameters mσ(G) and mσq(G) make possible to bound the σ-nilpotent length lσ(G)(see below the definitions of the terms employed), the rank r(G) and the number |π(G)| of all distinct primes dividing the order |G| of a finite soluble group G. We also give the conditions under which a finite group is σ-soluble or σ-nilpotent, and describe the structure of a finite soluble group G in the case when mσ(G)=|π(G)|. Some known results are generalized.

Probit Analysis of Carbamate-Pesticide-Toxicity at Soil-Water Interface to n_2-Fixing Cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp.

Toxicity-data of two carbamate insecticides, carbaryl and carbofuran, and three fungicides, ziram, zineb and mancozeb with rice-field n2-fixing cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp., obtained by in vitro growth and at soil-water interface, were analyzed by the probit method. Growth enhancing concentration, no-observed effective concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration, the highest permissive concentration and lethal concentration100 （LCloo） were determined experimentally. The LC^o values of carbaryl, carbofuran, ziram, zineb and mancozeb in n2-fixing liquid medium were 56.2, 588.8, 0.07, 4.2 and 3.4 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LCloo values were 100.0, 1500.0, 0.17, 25.0 and 9.0 IJg/mL, respectively. The LC50 values of these pesticides in succession in n2-fixing agar medium were 44.7, 239.9, 0.07, 1.8 and 2.3 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LC100 values were 100.0, 600.0, 0.17, 10.0 and 7.0 IJg/mL, respectively. Similar results with nitrate supplemented liquid and agar media indicated that nitrate supplementation had toxicity reducing effect. The LCso and LC^oo values of toxicity in the n2-fixing liquid medium at soil-water interface were 91.2 and 200.0 IJg/mL for carbaryl, 2 317 and 6 000 pg/mL for carbofuran, 0.15 and 0.50 pg/mL for ziram, 16.4 and 50.0 pg/mL for zineb, and 7.2 and 25.0 pg/mL for mancozeb, respectively. Each LC^oo value at soil- water interface with a pesticide was significantly higher than its corresponding LCloo value at liquid/agar media. It can be concluded that, under the n2-fixing conditions, the cyanobacterium tolerated higher levels of each pesticide at soil-water interface.
