Plausible explanation for the third COVID-19 wave in India and its implications

Recently some of us used a random-walk Monte Carlo simulation approach to study the spread of *** calculations were reasonably successful in describing secondary and tertiary waves of infection,in countries such as the USA,India,South Africa and ***,they failed to predict the observed third wave for *** this work we present a more complete set of simulations for India,that take into consideration two aspects that were not incorporated *** include the stochastic movement of an erstwhile protected fraction of the population,and the reinfection of some recovered individuals because of their exposure to a new variant of the SARS-CoV-2 *** extended simulations now show the third COVID-19 wave for India that was missing in the earlier *** also suggest an additional fourth wave,which was indeed observed during approximately the same time period as the model prediction.

Marine ecosystems provide a wide variety of diverse habitats that frequently promote migration and ecological *** extent to which the geographic distribution of marine organism has reshaped by human activities remains *** limitations intrinsic to morphology-based identification systems have engendered an urgent need for reliable genetic methods that enable the unequivocal recognition of fish species,particularly those that are prone to overexploitation and/or market *** the present study,however,an attempt has been taken to identify two locally adapted fish species,Siganus sutor(Valenciennes,1835)and Seriolina nigrofasciata(Rüppell,1829)of order Perciformes,which happens to be the first record in Odisha coast,Bay of *** diagnostic characteristics of Siganus sutor are:dorsal fin XIII-10,anal fin VII-9,pectoral fin 15,pelvic fin II-3,while that of Seriolina nigrofasciata dorsal fin VI-I-35,anal fin I-17,pectoral fin 16,pelvic fin *** COI barcodes generated in this study were matched with reference sequences of expected species,according to morphological *** and likelihood phylogenetic trees were drawn based on DnA barcodes and all the specimens clustered in agreement with their taxonomic classification at the species *** phylogeographic studies based on haplotype network and migration rates suggest that both the species were not panmitic and the high-frequency population distribution indicates successful *** result of this study provides an important validation of the use of DnA barcode sequences for monitoring species diversity and changes within a complex marine ecosystem.

Effect of anisotropy on thermoelastic contact problem

This paper is concerned with the stationary plane contact of an insulated rigid punch and a half-space which is elastically anisotropic but thermally conducting. The frictional heat generation inside the contact region due to the sliding of the punch over the half-space surface and the heat radiation outside the contact region are taken into account. With the help of Fourier integral transform, the problem is reduced to a system of two singular integral equations. The equations are solved numerically by using Gauss-Jacobi and trapezoidal-rule quadratures. The effects of anisotropy and thermal effects are shown graphically.

采用激波管研究弯曲预应变和压力对AA5052-H32板材成形行为的影响。测量变形拱形高度、有效应变和应力分布、硬度和晶粒尺寸演变等各种成形参数。在板材上印制圆形网格,并用Hill’s 1948屈服准则计算有效应变分布,通过Hollomon幂次定律计算有效应力分布。在板材的中间位置安装一应变片以监测成形过程中应变的演化。应变-时间图证实峰值应变的急剧上升,并在较高的压力下显著增加。成形参数的变化证实材料在没有应变局部化的情况下被均匀拉伸。光学显微组织显示等轴晶在冲击变形后被延展和拉长。因此,材料的成形行为既取决于预应变的大小,也取决于压力的变化。
