Microstructure studies of air-plasma-spray-deposited ConiCrAlY coatings before and after thermal cyclic loading for high-temperature application

In the present study, bond-coats for thermal barrier coatings were deposited via air plasma spraying（APS） techniques onto Inconel 800 and Hastelloy C-276 alloy substrates. Scanning electron microscopy（SEM）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, and atomic force microscopy（AFM） were used to investigate the phases and microstructure of the as-sprayed, APS-deposited Co ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings. The aim of this work was to study the suitability of the bond-coat materials for high temperature applications. Confirmation of nanoscale grains of the γ/γ′-phase was obtained by TEM, high-resolution TEM, and AFM. We concluded that these changes result from the plastic deformation of the bond-coat during the deposition, resulting in Co ni Cr Al Y bond-coatings with excellent thermal cyclic resistance suitable for use in high-temperature applications. Cyclic oxidative stability was observed to also depend on the underlying metallic alloy substrate.

We report a comparative study on photo-crystallization in a-Se95 Te5 and a-Se95In5 alloys. The photo-crystallization is achieved by a shining white line on the thin films of these alloys in vacuum for different exposure times. The results indicate that photo-crystallization is fast in a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy. This is explained in terms of lower thermal stability of a-Se95In5 alloy as compared to a-Se95 Te5 alloy.

Fuel properties and combustion characteristics of some promising bamboo species in India

We investigated the fuel characteristics of five important bamboo species viz., Dendrocalamus strictus, D. brandisii, D. stocksii, Bambusa bambos and B. balcooa. The selected species cover more than 85% of the total growing stock of bamboo in India. Basic density varied from 0.48 to 0.78 ***-3 among the bamboo species studied. Ash content, volatile matter content and fixed carbon content ranged between 1.4%-3.0%, 77.2%-80.8% and 17.6%-21.1%, respectively. Variation in calorific value （18.7-19.6 MJ-kg-l） was marginal. Fuel value index var- ied widely （586-2120） among bamboo species. The highest calorific value （19.6 ***＂l） and fuel value index （2120） were found in B. bal- cooa. Ash elemental analysis revealed that silica and potassium are the major ash forming minerals in bamboo biomass. Silica content ranged from 8.7% to 49.0%, while potassium ranged from 20.6% to 69.8%. We studied combustion characteristics under oxidizing atmosphere. Burning profiles of the samples were derived by applying the derivative thermo- gravimetric technique which is discussed in detail. The five bamboo species were different in their combustion behaviour, mainly due to differences in physical and chemical properties. We compare fuel prop- erties, ash elemental analysis and combustion characteristics of bamboo biomass with wood biomass of Eucalyptus hybrid （Eucalyptus tereticor- his × Eucalyptus camaldulensis）.

The notion of ideal convergence is a generalization of statistical convecgence which has been intensively investigated in last few years. For an admissible ideal ∮ C n × n, the aim of the present paper is to introduce the concepts of ∮-convergence and ：∮＊-convergence for double sequences on probabilistic normed spaces （Pn spaces for short）. We give some relations related to these notions and find condition on the ideal ∮ for which both the notions coincide. We also define ∮-Cauchy and ：∮＊- Cauchy double sequences on Pn spaces and show that ∮-convergent double sequences are ∮-Cauchy on these spaces. We establish example which shows that our method of convergence for double sequences on Pn spaces is more general.

The preparation of naCaPO4 doped with rare earth （RE） ions Ce3＋, Eu3＋ and Dy3＋ by combustion method was described. Under UV excitation （251 nm） of naCaPO4：Ce3＋ showsd emission （367 nm） in UV range. When naCaPO4：Dy3＋ phosphor was excited at 349 nm, the emission spectrum showed intense bands at 482 nm （blue） and 576 nm （yellow）. In Eu activated naCaPO4 phosphor, the emission spectrum showed a dominant peak at 594 nm （orange） while others were at 614 and 621 nm （red） when excited at 393 nm. The prepared phosphor was characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM） and photoluminescence （PL） measurement. Thus, the photoluminescence behavior of naCaPO4：Ce3＋ was strongly suggested for scintillator. Likewise, Eu3＋ and Dy3＋ activated naCaPO4 phosphors were recommended for near-UV white light-emitting diodes （LEDs）.
