Electron.c absorption.ban.s of con.ugated lin.ar carbon.chain.molecules, n.mely polyyn.s H(C≡C)n. (n.5-7), are exploited to devise light-polarizin. films applicable to the UV. Laser ablated polyyn.s are separated in.size an. dispersed in.a film of polyvin.l alcohol (PVA), which is stretched to align.the trapped lin.ar polyyn. molecules in.ide. As a n.ture of the structural an.sotropy, tran.ition.dipole of the UV absorption.for polyyn. molecules is in.parallel with the molecular axis an. the absorption.occurs on.y for the electromagn.tic wave havin. the amplitude of its electric vector alon. the molecular axis. Align.d an. fixed orien.ation.lly in.the solid PVA film, polyyn. molecules act as selective absorbers of on. of the polarization.compon.n.s of in.iden. light at particular wavelen.th. Usin. a light source of lin.arly polarized UV light, whose direction.of polarization.is rotatable, an.ular depen.en.e of the absorption.in.en.ity is in.estigated for the stretched PVA film con.ain.n. align.d polyyn. molecules an. an.lyzed in.terms of an.order parameter in.the theory of lin.ar dichroism.

n.n.-pore carbon.aerogels were prepared by the sol-gel polymerization.of resorcin.l (1,3-dihydroxyben.en.)(C6H4(OH)2) with formaldehyde (HCHO) in.a slightly basic aqueous solution. followed by super-critical dryin. un.er liquid carbon.dioxide as super-critical media an. carbon.zation.at 700 ℃ un.er n. gas atmosphere. The key of the work is to fabricate carbon.aerogels with con.rollable n.n.-pore structure, which mean. extremely high surface area an. sharp pore size distribution. Aimin. to in.estigate the effects of preparation.con.ition. on.the gelation.process, the bulk den.ity, an. the physical an. chemical structure of the resultan. carbon.aerogels, the molar ratio of R/C (resorcin.l to catalyst) an. the amoun. of distilled water were varied, con.equen.ly two differen. sets of samples, with series of R/C ratio an. RF/W (Resorcin.l-Formaldehyde to water, or the con.en. of reactan.) ratio, were prepared. The result of n. adsorption.desorption.experimen. at 77 K shows that the pore sizes decreasin. from 11.4 down.to 2.2 n. with the in.reasin. of the molar ratio of R/C from 100 to 400, an./or, the pore sizes decreasin. from 3.8 down.to 1.6 n. with the in.reasin. of reactan. con.en. from 0.4 to 0.6.

AIM: To clarify the relation.hip between.autophagy an. lipotoxicity-in.uced apoptosis, which is termed "lipoapoptosis," in.n.n.alcoholic steatohepatitis. METHODS: Male C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet(HFD) for 12 wk, after which the liver histology an. expression.of protein. such as p62 or LC3 were evaluated. Alpha mouse liver 12(AML12) cells treated with palmitate(PA) were used as an.in.vitro model. RESULTS: LC3-Ⅱ, p62, an. Run.domain.Beclin.1 in.eractin. an. cystein.-rich con.ain.n.(Rubicon. protein. in.reased in.both the HFD mice an. in.AML12 cells in.respon.e to PA treatmen.. Rubicon.expression.was decreased upon.c-Jun.n.termin.l kin.se(Jn.) in.ibition.at both the m Rn. an. the protein.level in.AML12 cells. Rubicon.kn.ckdown.in.AML12 cells with PA decreased the protein.levels of both LC3-Ⅱ an. p62. Rubicon.expression.peaked at 4 h of PA treatmen. in.AML12, an. then.decreased. Treatmen. with caspase-9 in.ibitor ameliorated the decrease in.Rubicon.protein.expression.at 10 h of PA an. resulted in.en.arged AML12 cells un.er PA treatmen.. The en.argemen. of AML12 cells by PA with caspase-9 in.ibition.was can.eled by Rubicon.***: The Jn.-Rubicon.axis en.an.ed lipoapoptosis, an. caspase-9 in.ibition.an. Rubicon.had effects that were cytologically similar to hepatocyte balloon.n.. A n.w combin.d desulfurization.den.tration.(DeSOx/Den.x,) process was tested in.this study. The process uses the so-called powder-particle fluidized bed (PPFB) as the major reactor in.which a coarse Den.x catalyst, several hun.red micrometers in.size, is fluidized by flue gas as the fluidization.medium particles, while a con.in.ously supplied fin. DeSOx sorben., several to ten. of micrometers in.diameter, is en.rain.d with the flue gas. Ammon.a for n.x reduction.is fed to the bottom of the bed, thus, SOX an. n.X are simultan.ously removed in.the sin.le reactor. By adoptin. a model gas, SO2-n.-H2O-n.-air, to simulate actual flue gas in.a laboratory-scale PPFB, simultan.ous SO2 an. n. removals were explored with respect to various gas compon.n.s of flue gas. It was foun. that the variation. of SO2 removal with con.en.ration. (fraction.) of oxygen. water vapor, SO2 an. n. in.flue gas are little affected by the simultan.ous n.x reduction. However, the depen.en.ies of n. removal upon.such gas compon.n.s are closely related to the in.er-action. between.DeSOx sorben. an. Den.x catalyst.
