AIM: To in.estigate the correlation.between.hepatic osteodystrophy an. osteoporosis in.patien.s with liver cirrhosis. METHODS: Bon. min.ral den.ity of the patien.s (n.= 55) an. that of the con.rol group (n.= 30) were measured by dual-en.rgy X-ray absorptiometry. All the women.in.the study were premen.pausal. Deoxypyridin.lin., pyridin.lin. an. urin.ry Ca 2+ were measured as bon. destruction.markers, while alkalin. phosphatase (ALP), osteocalcin.an. in.ulin.like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) were measured as bon. formation.markers. Furthermore, in.erleukin.1 (IL-1), IL-6, tumor n.crosis factor α (Tn.-α), vitamin.D3, direct bilirubin. albumin. cortisol an. parathyroid hormon. (PTH) levels were measured. The in.epen.en. Studen. t test an. χ 2 test were employed in.comparin. both groups, an. the Pearson.correlation.test was used to determin. association.. RESULTS: Comparin. cirrhosis an. con.rol groups, lumbar total T-score (-1.6 ± 1.2 g/cm 2 vs -0.25 ± 1.3 g/cm 2 , P n. total femur Z-score (-0.08 ± 1.5 g/cm 2 vs 0.7 ± 0.9 g/cm 2 , P =0.003) showed sign.fican.ly lower values in.the cirrhosis group. Blood ALP level (109.2 ± 57 U/Lvs 62.6 ± 32.5 U/L, P n.-α level (42.6 ± 33.2 pg/mL vs 25.3 ± 12.3 pg/mL, P = 0.007) an. direct bilirubin.level (0.9 ± 0.7 mg/dL vs 0.3 ± 0.2 mg/dL, P n.fican.ly higher in.the cirrhosis group. IGF-1 level (47.7 ± 26.2 n./mL vs 143.4 ± 53.2 n./mL, P n.level (1.05 ± 2.5 n./mL vs 7.0 ± 13 n./mL, P = 0.002) an. 24 h urin.ry Ca 2+ (169.6 ± 227.2 mg/dL vs 287 ± 168.6 mg/dL, P = 0.003) were sign.fican.ly lower in.the cirrhosis group. Mixtures of refin.d wheat flour (RWF) with flours from differen. sources could impact the fun.tion.l qualities an. shelf life of wheat-based products. Storage stability is on. of the most critical factors for tortilla quality. Tortillas made from yam (Dioscorea sp.) wheat composite flours were characterized. RWF was substituted with 5%, 10%, 15%, an. 20% of fermen.ed yam flour-brown.(FYF) an. un.ermen.ed yam flour-white (UYF). Farin.graph water absorption. of UYF-composite flours (65.5% - 77.1%) were sign.fican.ly (P n.FYF-composite flour absorption. (60.5% - 61.5%). Durin. storage, moisture con.en.s of composite flour tortillas in.reased while the RWF-tortilla decreased. Tortilla from FYF-composite flour exhibited greater stren.th (3.1 n.at day zero on.average) compared to UYF-composite tortillas (2.1 n.at day zero on.average), while UYF-composite flour tortillas had good exten.ibility an. rollability properties. The properties an. composition.type an. ratios of flour blen.s affected tortilla quality durin. the storage period. The substitution.of RWF with 15% or 20% UYF would be more suitable for makin. tortilla with improved properties compared to that of FYF.

IVTA(4 mg/0.1 mL) in.ection.for diabetic macular edema(DME)(n.=22), cen.ral retin.l vein.occlusion.CRVO)(n.=12) an. choroidal n.ovascular membran.(Cn.M)(n.=12) were in.luded in.the study. Peak systolic velocity(PSV), en. diastolic velocity(EDV) an. resistivity in.ex(RI) were measured from the ophthalmic artery(OA), the cen.ral retin.l artery(CRA) an. the posterior ciliary artery(PCA)of each patien. with CDU before, at the en. of the first week an. at the en. of the first mon.h followin. IVTA ***:In.the DME group, PSV of OA at the first of the first mon.h(mean.±SD)(37.48 ±10.87 cm/s) in.reased compared to pre-in.ection.value(31.39 ±10.84 cm/s)(P =0.048). There was a statistically sign.fican. decrease(P =0.049) in.PSV of CRA at the en. of the first mon.h(7.97±2.67 cm/s) compared to the pre-in.ection.9.47±3.37 cm/s).There was n.t an. statistically sign.fican. differen.e on.he other parameters in.the DME group. Pn.umococcal vaccin. is a high protection.l vaccin. that is especially recommen.ed for patien.s with COPD （chron.c obstructive pulmon.ry disease） over 65 years. It is importan. for the preven.ion.of man. complication. secon.ary to in.ection. In.presen. study, it is aimed to determin. the level of kn.wledge an. attitude of the patien.s over 65 years, who had admitted to hospital for an. reason. about pn.umococcal vaccin.. Study was performed on.December 2013. Thirty-three patien.s over 65 years, who were admitted to ｜zmir Tepecik Education.an. Research Hospital for an. reason. were chosen.ran.omly. A question.aire, related with this aim, was performed. Date were evaluated as percen.ages. Fifteen.patien.s were men.（45.6%） an. 18 were women.（54.4%）. Forty-two percen. were housewife （n.14）, 18.4% （n.6） were retired, others were from differen. profession.. On.y I patien. had an.un.versity degree an. 14.8% （n.5） were illiterate. n.mber of the patien.s who heard about pn.umon.a was 18 （54.6%）. Amon. them, 94% （n. 17） described pn.umon.a correctly. On.y 1 patien. had pn.umon.a, hospitalized an. treated in.the past. All of the patien.s stated that they don.t have lower respiratory tract in.ection.an. in.luen.a in.ection.so often. Sixty-three poin. five percen. （n.21） of the patien.s has heard about pn.umococcal vaccin.. Of the 21, 54.5% had heard from their family doctor, 46.5% from social media. n.n. of the patien.s have an.idea about the protective effects of the vaccin.. On.y 18.4% （n.6） of the patien.s had pn.umococ vaccin., an. on.y 12.3% of them men.ion.d about its ben.fits. The percen.age of patien.s who have correct kn.wledge about vaccin.tion.period was 21.7% （n.7）. The percen.age of patien.s who kn.w the side effects of the vaccin. was aroun. 33.2% （n.11）. Kn.wledge level of the patien.s over 65 years about pn.umococvaccin.tion.was quite low an. on.y small part of the patien.s were vaccin.ted. Family doctors must play an.importan. role on.this subject.
