BACKGROUn.: Papillary carcin.ma of the breast is a rare malign.n. tumour accoun.in. for 1% - 2% of all breast can.ers in.women. Papillary carcin.mas of the chest wall are always secon.ary to thyroid, thymus an. ovaries. Other varian.s of breast can.er metastasizin. to the chest wall have been.reported. CASE: We report a 67-year-old woman.presen.ed to us with an.ulcerated an.erior chest wall mass of 1-year duration. bilateral axillary, supraclavicular an. cervical swellin.s of 8-mon.h duration. There was a history of breast lump which was n.ticed 5 years prior to presen.ation. n. history of breast malign.n.y in.the past an. n. family history of breast can.er. Examin.tion.revealed an.ulcerated, n.dular mass over the stern.l an.le which measured 14 cm × 12 cm × 4 cm;she had bilateral axillary, supraclavicular an. cervical lymphaden.pathy which were n.n.ten.er an. matted. She had a firm, n.n.ten.er right breast lump measurin. 6 cm × 4 cm. Chest examin.tion.an. abdomin.l examin.tion. were essen.ially n.rmal. Chest X-ray revealed erosion.of stern.l bon. without an. eviden.e of in.rathoracic exten.ion. Abdomin.l ultrasoun. an. thyroid scan. were n.rmal. Histology of the mass revealed papillary carcin.ma. Biopsy of the right breast also revealed papillary carcin.ma. She had excision.of the fun.atin. tumour an. primary closure of defect. She subsequen.ly had combin.tion.chemotherapy usin. on.asetron. cyclophosphamide, adriamycin.an. cisplan.in. COn.LUSIOn. Papillary carcin.ma of the breast is rare an. rarely metastasizes to the chest wall. The diagn.sis of metastatic chest wall tumour requires meticulous history takin., clin.cal examin.tion.an. relevan. in.estigation. to ascertain.the primary origin.of the carcin.ma.

The CO-n. reaction.on.a catalytic surface is studied by usin. Lan.muir-Hin.hclwood thermal mechan.sm with Mon.e Carlo computer simulation. In.this model, a n.vel con.ept of CO CO repulsion.is in.roduced, which has experimen.al eviden.e due to the formation.of dipoles when.these molecules are chemisorbed on.the surface. The system is in.estigated by applyin. two approaches of n. dissociation. In.the first ***, n. always decomposes in.o n.an. O before adsorption.on.the surface, In.the secon. case, n. adsorbs on.the surface molecularly an. then.dissociates in.o n.an. O if a vacan.y is presen. in.its adjacen. n.ighbourhood. The steady state reactive win.ow （i.e. the con.in.ous production.of CO2 an. n.） is obtain.d on.y with the diffusion.of n.atoms on.the surface, which exten.s with CO-CO repulsion.in.the first, case. Itowever, in.the secon. case, reactive win.ow is obtain.d with CO-CO repulsion.alon., The reactive win.ow width in.this case is reason.bly large. The first-order phase tran.ition.is elimin.ted in.both the cases with CO-CO repulsion.

A comparison.of two methods of solution.to classical flow problem in.rarefied gas dyn.mics was presen.ed. The two methods were chosen.to examin. the effect of the followin. tran.port phen.men. (pressure gradien. an. temperature differen.e) viz Poiseuille an. Thermal creep respectively on.the flow of rarefied gas. The govern.n. equation. were approximated usin. BGK model. It was shown.that while the Discrete Ordin.te Method could con.ider more values of the accommodation.coefficien.s, the Fin.te Differen.e Method can.on.y take accommodation.coefficien. of on.. It was also shown.that the flow rate has its min.mum in.both solution.methods at Kn.= 0.1 in.the tran.ition.regime an. that as the chan.els get wider, the Thermal creep volume flow rates get smaller.

Profile of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in.n.gerian. with Stroke

Backgroun.: There is paucity of data on.cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors amon. stroke patien.s in.our population. This study aimed at assessin. CVD risk factors amon.st stroke patien.s compared with apparen.ly healthy con.rols. Methods: This was a case-con.rol study con.ucted at Amin. Kan. Teachin. Hospital Kan.. On. hun.red stroke subjects were con.ecutively recruited an. compared with 100 age an. sex matched con.rols. The CVD risk factors assessed were hyperten.ion. diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, obesity, cigarette smokin., alcohol con.umption. socioecon.mic status (SES), in.reased age, male gen.er an. Human.Immun.deficien.y Virus (HIV) status. Results: Mean.age was 56.4 ± 15.8 years for cases an. 54.5 ± 15.4 years for con.rols (p = 0.39), an. 53% of the former an. 52% of the latter were males (p = 0.887). The most prevalen. CVD risk factor was hyperten.ion. foun. in.71% of cases an. 42% of the con.rols, (p = 0.01). All heart diseases were foun. in.70% of cases an. 21% of con.rols (p n. hyperten.ive heart disease (HHD) was the common.st, foun. in.55% of cases an. 18% of con.rols (p n. in.53% of cases an. 37% of the con.rols (p = 0.023), diabetes mellitus/hyperglycemia in.23% of the cases an. 6% of the con.rols (p = 0.01), history of tran.ien. ischemic attack (TIA) in.19% of cases an. 1% of the con.rols (p = 0.01), while atrial fibrillation.was foun. in.9% of cases on.y. Other risk factors were un.ommon. Con.lusion. The most frequen. CVD risk factors amon. n.gerian. with stroke were systemic hyperten.ion. heart diseases, male sex an. dyslipidemia, while HIV an. other risk factors were un.ommon. Thus medical atten.ion.an. public en.ighten.en. should focus on.the common.on.s as detected in.this study.

根瘤固定的氮素是大豆植株生长发育的重要氮素来源,植株的固氮能力会影响氮素吸收效率,从而影响产量。大豆又是需水较多的作物,干旱会给大豆生长发育造成很大影响。在干旱条件下,施用适量的氮肥,在一定程度上能保证大豆的正常生长和产量的形成。本试验在盆栽条件下将干旱与施氮处理结合起来,采用超高产品种辽豆14号通过研究大豆开花期至鼓粒期的根系形态,根系的结瘤固氮生理和产量形成等,探究施氮对干旱胁迫下大豆的根瘤固氮和产量形成的影响,试图揭示超高产大豆品种对干旱胁迫下施氮的反应,为未来干旱胁迫下的大豆抗旱生理育种提供理论依据。主要结果如下:1.干旱条件下辽豆14的根表面积、根体积和根直径均低于正常水分处理,根系长度长于正常水分处理。大豆盛花期和盛荚期,辽豆14的根直径先增加后降低,根体积会逐渐增加;大豆鼓粒期辽豆14的根直径呈现逐渐增加趋势。R1期追肥处理下,根体积会先增加后降低。说明辽豆14的根系在施用氮肥后其吸收利用水分和养分的能力更强。2.干旱条件下辽豆14的根瘤鲜重、根瘤数均会降低,n.00施肥水平会促进辽豆14的根瘤生长,n.50施肥水平下,辽豆14在R1期追肥处理下的根瘤鲜重有所增加,其余均会受到抑制。干旱会降低根瘤的固氮酶活性和豆血红蛋白含量,且随着施肥水平的提高会逐渐降低。鼓粒期辽豆14在干旱条件下不施肥处理的固氮酶活性降低了24.79%,施用底肥和R1期追肥处理均低于不施肥处理。本研究表明,豆血红蛋白含量变化和固氮酶活性变化具有一致性。说明干旱条件下,辽豆14的根瘤固氮会受到抑制,施氮后抑制增强。底肥n.00和R1期追肥n.00处理可以降低干旱对根瘤数的影响,不同生育时期的平均根瘤数分别为170.3个/株和156.8个/株,而不施肥的对照仅为101.5个/株。底肥n.00、底肥n.50和R1期追肥n.00处理可以降低干旱对根瘤固氮酶活性的影响,不同生育时期的平均根瘤固氮酶活性分别为281.4、244.6、210.7 n.mol CH/mg/h,而不施肥的对照仅为186.5n.mol CH/mg/h。干旱会显著降低大豆的豆血红蛋白含量,底肥和R1期追肥会增大豆血红蛋白含量的下降幅度。底肥施氮各生育时期平均含量0.43mg/g n.dule,R1追氮为0.32 mg/g n.dule,不施氮的为0.54 mg/g n.dule。3.干旱条件下辽豆14的根干重、地上部干重和根冠比均会降低,施氮在一定程度上改善了大豆植株在干旱条件下的根冠分配比例,植株根冠比增加。4.干旱条件下辽豆14的结荚高度、株高、节数和分枝数均会降低。在干旱条件下,底肥施氮和R1追施氮肥均可以缓解干旱的减产效果,以R1追肥氮肥效果更好,特别是R1追施n.50的效果最佳,两年平均单株粒重为26.51g,不施肥为15.94g。
