A taxonomic note concerning 18 species of dobsonflies and fishflies recently collected from northern Vietnam is presented. Among them, 6 species, i.e. neoneuromus ignobilis navfis, 1932, n. orientalis Liu ＆ Yang, 2004, n. sikkimensis （van der Weele, 1907）, Protohermes guangxiensis Yang ＆ Yang, 1986, neochauliodes formosanus Okamoto, 1910, and n. fraternus （McLachlan, 1869） are newly reported from Vietnam.

AIM:To clarify the association between a polymorphism-449 C>G(rs72696119) in 5'-UTR of nFKB1 with ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODS:The studied population comprised 639 subjects,including patients with UC(UC cases,n = 174) and subjects without UC(controls,n = 465).We employed polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism to detect the gene ***:The rs72696119 G allele frequencies in controls and UC cases were 33.4% and 38.5%,respectively(P = 0.10).Genotype frequency of the GG homozygote in UC cases was significantly higher than that in controls(P = 0.017),and the GG homozygote was significantly associated with susceptibility to UC [odds ratio(OR),1.88;95%CI,1.13-3.14].In male subjects,the GG homozygote was associated with an increased risk for UC(OR,3.10;95%CI,1.47-6.54;P = 0.0053),whereas this association was not found in female *** addition,the GG homozygote was significantly associated with the risk of non-continuous disease(OR,2.06;95%CI,1.12-3.79;P = 0.029),not having total colitis(OR,2.40;95%CI,1.09-3.80,P = 0.040),disease which developed before 20 years of age(OR,2.80;95%CI,1.07-7.32,P = 0.041),no hospitalization(OR,2.28;95%CI,1.29-4.05;P = 0.0090) and with a maximum of 8 or less on the UCDAI score(OR,2.45;95%CI,1.23-4.93;P = 0.022).COnCLUSIOn:Our results provide evidence that nFKB1 polymorphism rs72696119 was significantly associated with the development of *** polymorphism influences the susceptibility to and pathophysiological features of UC.

Effectiveness of a Self-Foot-Care Educational Program for Prevention of Diabetic Foot Disease

Objective: To verify the effectiveness of a “self-foot-care educational program (SFCEP)” for prevention of type 2 diabetes foot disease. Methods: A single-center, randomized and controlled trial was conducted. Fifty-five patients with type 2 DM, 40 - 75 years of age who were asked to return for a follow-up hospital visit, were allocated to either an SFCEP group (n = 29) or a conventional education program (CEP) group (n = 26). Both of the groups were given foot-care education, monthly for four times in the SFCEP group and in the CEP group one time only by a printed leaflet. The two groups had no statistically significant differences in patient background of the type 2 diabetes history. We evaluated removal rate of skin debris, and the symptoms and conditions of the feet. Results: Between the SFCEP and CEP there were significant differences in removal rate of skin debris (p Conclusion: This study strongly suggests the effectiveness of SFCEP in preventing the occurrence or worsening of diabetic foot diseases.

Application of High Carbon:nitrogen Material Enhanced the Formation of the Soil A Horizon and nitrogen Fixation in a Tropical Agricultural Field

It is known that cropping causes soil carbon loss, which is a critical issue, especially in tropical agriculture. nitrogen input generally increases net primary production but does not increase soil carbon content because nitrogen input enhances soil organic carbon mineralization by microorganisms. A farmer conducted a trial in which he applied material with a high carbon:nitrogen (C:n) ratio without additional nitrogen fertilizer, and achieved a higher productivity than that of conventional farms. Based on his results, we conducted a survey to evaluate the effects of high C:n ratio organic material on the productivity, soil profile, microbial activity, and carbon and nitrogen balance of soil. Results demonstrate that high C:n ratio organic material enhanced the formation of the soil A horizon and increased soil carbon and nitrogen content. Approximately, 15 - 20 t·ha-1·crop-1 of fresh waste mushroom bed was applied to 15 crops over 4.5 years, and the total input of carbon and nitrogen were 5014 and 129 g·m-2, respectively. The soil nitrate nitrogen concentration was the same as that of the neighboring forest soil, which was lower than the standard limit for conventional agriculture;however, the average productivity of crops was approximately four times that of the national average. The soil Ap horizon increased in thickness by 7 cm, and aggregates reached a thickness of 29 cm in 4.5 years. The output/input ratios of total soil nitrogen and carbon were approximately 2.68 - 6.00 and 1.30 - 2.35, respectively, indicating that this method will maintain the carbon and nitrogen balance of the system. The observed soil microbial activity was one order of magnitude higher than that of a fallow field. The results indicate that this agricultural method remediates soil degradation, and improves food production.

TWIP (TWinning Induced Plasticity) steel is one of the advanced steels with attractive mechanical *** typical composition of TWIP steel includes a large amount of manganese with some aluminum and *** study has shown that TWIP steel exhibits high strength with adequate elongation at high strain rates,so that TWIP steel is desired to be applied for automotive ***,there are few studies concerning the deformation behaviors aimed to make clear the TWIP effect in TWIP *** this study,static tensile deformation behaviors of an Fe-30Mn-3Al-3Si TWIP steel and a SUS310S one were studied by in situ neutron diffraction during tensile *** terms of mechanical properties obtained by the static tensile tests,the TWIP steel showed better balance of tensile strength and uniform elongation than the 310S *** angular dispersion neutron diffraction with a wavelength of 0.16 nm was performed during stepwise tensile testing by using a neutron diffractometer for residual stress analysis (RESA) at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency.A specimen was extended in a step by step manner and neutron diffraction profiles of (111),(200) and (311) for austenite were obtained at each *** diffraction peak,lattice plane spacing,lattice plane strain and so on were determined by the profile analysis as a function of applied *** changes of lattice plane strain for austenite in the TWIP and 310S steels indicated several deformation stages in the tensile deformation and can be discussed the difference of intergranular stress between the two samples.

BACKGROUnD Laparoscopic surgery has been introduced as a minimally invasive technique for the treatment of various ***,there are few reports that have scientifically investigated the minimally invasive nature of laparoscopic liver resection(LLR).AIM To investigate whether LLR is scientifically less invasive than open liver *** During December 2011 to April 2015,blood samples were obtained from 30 patients who treated with laparoscopic(n=10,33%)or open(n=20,67%)partial liver resection for liver *** levels of serum interleukin-6(IL-6)and plasma thrombospondin-1(TSP-1)were measured using ELISA kit at four time points including preoperative,immediate after operation,postoperative day 1(POD1)and ***,we investigated the impact of the operative approaches during partial hepatectomy on the clinical time course including IL-6 and *** Serum level of IL-6 on POD1 in laparoscopic hepatectomy was significantly lower than those in open hepatectomy(8.7 vs 30.3 pg/mL,respectively)(P=0.003).Plasma level of TSP-1 on POD3 in laparoscopic hepatectomy was significantly higher than those in open hepatectomy(1704.0 vs 548.3 ng/mL,respectively)(P=0.009),and have already recovered to preoperative level in laparoscopic *** patients with higher IL-6 Levels on POD1,plasma level of TSP-1 on POD3 was significantly lower than those in patients with lower IL-6 Levels on *** analysis showed that open approach was the only independent factor related to higher level of IL-6 on POD1[odds ratio(OR),7.48;95%confidence interval(CI):1.28-63.3;P=0.02].Furthermore,the higher level of serum IL-6 on POD1 was significantly associated with lower level of plasm TSP-1 on POD3(OR,5.32;95%CI:1.08-32.2;P=0.04)in multivariate *** In partial hepatectomy,laparoscopic approach might be minimally invasive surgery with less IL-6 production compared to open approach.
