Petro-Structural Study of Paragneiss in the SASCA Domain(GbowéSector at Grand-Bereby),Southwestern Cote d’Ivoire

The petrographic and structural study of Gbowé (Grand-Béréby) formations located in the SASCA domain (South-West of Côte d’Ivoire) revealed migmatitic paragneisses. For an in-depth understanding of the petrographic, structural and metamorphic characteristics, six (6) thin sections were made from these paragneisses. These gneisses are characterized by paleosomes and neosomes (leucosome and melanosome), consisting of quartz, garnet, plagioclase, biotite, cordierite, sillimanite, myrmekite and microcline. The mineralogical assemblage thus described indicates a retrograde metamorphism (transition from granulitic facies to amphibolitic facies). The structural and microstructural study identified two types of deformation (ductile and brittle). The ductile deformation is characterized by phases D1 (nE-SW flattening) and D2 (nW-SE flattening), materialized by foliations (n140˚, n050˚), folds (asymmetrical folds, similar folds, concentric folds, ptymatic folds) and boudins. Fracture schistosity and fold fracture schistosity are characteristic of the brittle deformation (phase D3). The microstructural study coupled with the metamorphic study shows that the deformations had an impact on the texture of the minerals (recrystallization and mineral reactions). It also allowed giving the paragenesis of phases D1 and D2. The D1 phase is characterized by garnet1, biotite1, quartz1, sillimanite1 and cordierite1 and the D2 phase is characterized by garnet1, quartz2, sillimanite2, biotite2, garnet2 and orthose2. These parageneses thus highlighted bear witness to a polydeformation and polymorphism that affects the study area.

Influence of Post-Harvest Storage Technologies on Weight and Rate Losses and Sensory Profile of Cola nuts (<i>Cola nitida</i>) Produced in Côte d’Ivoire

The conservation of cola nuts (Cola nitida) poses a real problem in Côte d’Ivoire because of the post-harvest losses. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of post-harvest technologies on organoleptic and physical properties of cola nut during storage. A biopesticide, glucose syrup and biopesticide + glucose syrup were applied to fresh cola nuts before conditioning and kept at 28°C for 6 weeks. Physicochemical and sensory analyses were performed to check the quality of the nuts during storage. The results showed that the biopesticide keep cola nuts better than the others methods with only 11.66% ± 3.04% and 13.66% ± 3.95% of loss rates for white and red cola nuts respectively. Cola nuts treated with bio-pesticide retain significantly their freshness with 62.00% ± 1.15% of moisture for white nuts and 64.00% ± 2.00% of moisture for red nuts compared to those treated with glucose syrup and bio-pesticide + glucose syrup (56.66% ± 1.15%). Cola nuts treated with biopesticide have a better acceptability compared to those subjected to others treatments. The use of biopesticide for the storage of cola nuts minimizes the losses and maintains the quality whatever the type of cola.

Petrogenetic Characterization of the Geological Formations of the Localities of Goumere-Iguela in the South West of the Bui Belt (north-East of Cote d’Ivoire)

Located in the north-east of Côte d’Ivoire, the Gouméré-Iguéla sectors were the subject of a geological mapping. These geological formations are located southwest of the Bui trench. In order to improve the petrogenetic knowledge of the study area, a multidisciplinary methodology integrating microscopic observations and geochemical analyses of major and trace elements was carried out on 15 samples considered as representative of the studied outcrops. The macroscopic and microscopic petrographic study allowed to highlight three major lithological units: 1) a volcano-plutonic unit, formed by gabbros and amphibole-pyroxenite, basalt and rhyodacite;2) a volcano-sedimentary unit containing pyroclastites (of basaltic and andesitic composition);3) a sedimentary unit (meta-sedimentary). These rocks are affected by a general metamorphism of green schist facies and a hydrothermal alteration with pervasive and vein alteration marked by the presence of quartz, calcite, epidote, chlorite and sericite. From a geochemical point of view, the results obtained indicate that the plutonites are gabbros while the volcanites and volcanosedimentary rocks have compositions of basalts, basaltic andesites, rhyolites and dacites. They have mainly a tholeitic character related to subduction zones with crustal contamination. The metasediments are arenites emplaced in an active continental margin environment.

Mount Fouimba and Mount Goma (Seguela) greenstone belts petro-structural studies combine remote sensing, geophysics, petrography and structural analysis. In view of establishing mapping details of paleoproterozoic geological formations, geological setting rocks observed are essentially magmatic formations, such as two-mica granite, granodiorites, and porphyritic basalts;and a few metamorphics which are metatonalite, amphibolites and amphibo-lopyroxenites. Remote sensing, such as Landsat 8 OLI satellite imagery and geophysical data, has been combined to show regional nnE-SW shear zone. Tectonic structures and microstructures have enabled to identify two main deformation phases: D1 phase corresponding to compression, and D2 is a transpression phase. Mechanisms responsible for deformations are respectively flattening and transpression. Geological formations derived from mantle origin but contain crustal components, and their tectonic setting occurred during subduction.

Understanding the molecular factors of rice degradation during its aging concerns our research team. This article emphasizes oryzenin-amylopectin. It aims to reveal the mechanism of amylopectin deterioration during rice aging. The research exploits the natural Bond Analysis and OnIOn method at theory level DFT/B3LYP/6-31+G(d, p) and AM1. This methodological approach allows highlighting amylopectin transformation;oryzenin converts amylopectin into amyloidosis in continuous. This led to monosaccharides and disaccharides.

The petrogeochemical analysis of the granitoids of Mount Fouimba and Mount Goma in the Seguela region (central-western C?te d’Ivoire) is the subject of this study. This analysis combines remote sensing, geophysics, petrography and geochemistry, in order to determine the major characteristics of the granitoids in the study area, and above all to participate in the detailed mapping of all the Ivorian terrains. The granitoids encountered in this region are essentially two-mica granites, granodiorites and porphyry basalts. Chemical analysis indicates that these granitoids are of the ferrous and magnesian type with peraluminous to weakly metaluminous characteristics. They originate from the mantle and were emplaced in an active continental margin context.

Persistently High Glycated Hemoglobin in a Subgroup of Type 2 Diabetic Patients Who Failed Usual Oral Antihyperglycemics and Insulin in Côte d’Ivoire

Background: Type II diabetes mellitus is associated with multiple metabolic derangements which can cause secondary pathophysiological changes in multiple organ systems. This in turn can impose a heavy burden of morbidity and mortality from micro‑ and macro‑vascular complications. This study aimed to describe the metabolic and therapeutic profile of a subgroup of type 2 diabetic patients who have treatment failure with oral anti-hyperglycemic agents with persistent hyperglycemia despite insulin treatment. Methods: 60 type 2 diabetic patients in treatment failure with oral antidiabetics and under insulin treatment, aged 35 to 70 years, were recruited at the Diabetes Clinic of the University Teaching Hospital of Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Blood samples were collected in tubes containing Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) to determine glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c). Results: The average age of the population was 54 ± 9.38 years with a sex ratio (M/F) of 0.3, an average BMI of 30.25 ± 5 kg/m2, and an average HbA1c of 10.1% ± 1.6% for an average diabetes duration of 11.8 ± 5.8 years. The average insulin dose was 74.556 ± 16.21 UI/day, and the average duration of insulin treatment was 5.4 ± 3.1 years. The average HbA1c value was 10.1% ± 1.87% in men against 10.03% ± 1.53% in women with no significant difference (p = 0.1). The mean HbA1c values according to patient weight were 10.08% ± 2.05% for normal weight, 9.55% ± 2.26% for overweight, and 10.57% for obese, with no significant difference between the three groups of patients (p = 0.1). Conclusion: This study showed a persistence increase in glycated hemoglobin regardless of the treatment regimen, duration, and dose of insulin treatment in the subpopulation of type 2 diabetic patients.

Chronic epididymitis and Grade III varicocele and their associations with semen characteristics in men consulting for couple infertility

Chronic epididymitis and varicocele are frequently observed genital disorders in men consulting for couple infertility, but their impact on semen characteristics at the time of infertility consultation is still a matter of debate. We investigated 652 male partners of couples who had their first infertility consultation between 1999 and 2015 in Argentina. Men with chronic epididymitis （n = 253）, Grade III varicocele （n = 106）, and both conditions （n = 125） were compared with a control group （n = 168） composed of men without these disorders or any other recognized causes of male infertility. We showed that men who presented isolated chronic epididymitis were more likely to have high percentages of low sperm motility and abnormal sperm morphology as well as a high number of white blood cells. Men with isolated Grade III varicocele had low sperm production and motility and an increased percentage of abnormal sperm morphology. Finally, men who simultaneously presented chronic epididymitis with Grade III varicocele had a low sperm motility and increased percentage of abnormal sperm morphology as well as a high number of white blood cells. Physical examination of the genital organs may identify common disorders, potentially involved as causal factors of patient＇s infertility. These disorders are associated with specific seminal profiles that should help in identifying the best treatment from the available therapeutic options, effectiveness, safety, and allowing as much as possible natural conception.

Pharmacochemical Aspects of the Evolution from Erythromycin to neomacrolides, Ketolides and neoketolides

Antibiotic macrolides are experiencing renewed interest in anti-infective therapy since the advent of ketolides. This therapeutic class was introduced in order to broaden the narrow antibacterial spectrum of macrolides and to cope with the emergence of germs resistant to Erythromycin A and its hemisynthetic derivatives or neomacrolides (Clarithromycin, Roxithromycin, Azithromycin, Dirithromycin). From a pharmacochemical point of view, ketolides were first of all obtained by operating chemical modulations on Erythromycin A to obtain the neomacrolides, then, by replacing the neutral sugar (L-cladinose) in C3 by a ketone function coupled with the creation of an oxazolidinone like heterocycle in C11 and C12 in place of the hydroxyls present in these positions (Telithromycin, Cethromycin, Solithromycin). These modulations have enabled the improvement of the chemical stability of ketolides in gastric acid medium and increase their affinity for the ribosomal target, hence the broadening of their spectrum of action towards Gram positive germs including strains resistant to other macrolides and to neomacrolides. Therefore, the objective of this systematic review is to report the various pharmacochemical aspects undertaken since 1952 in the macrolide series based on the structure of Erythromycin A. These aspects will focus on the pharmacomodulations that have led, year after year, to the optimization of stability, the improvement of the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile and that have allowed the development of neomacrolides, ketolides and neoketolides, which are today essential in the management of severe bronchopulmonary infections.

Conformally flat, minimal, Lagrangian submanifolds in complex space forms

We investigate n-dimensional(n≥4),conformally flat,minimal,Lagrangian submanifolds of the n-dimensional complex space form in terms of the multiplicities of the eigenvalues of the Schouten tensor and classify those that admit at most one eigenvalue of multiplicity *** the case where the ambient space is Cn,the quasi umbilical case was studied in Blair(2007).However,the classification there is not complete and several examples are ***,we complete(and extend) the classification and we also deal with the case where the ambient complex space form has non-vanishing holomorphic sectional curvature.
