The objectiv.s of this stud. were to illustra.e the rea.tion processes, to id.ntify a.d.qua.tify the precipita.es formed. a.d.to estima.e the porosity losses in ord.r to elimina.e d.a.ba.ks d.ring remed.a.ing monochlorobenzene （MCB） a.d.trichloroethylene （TCE）-conta.ina.ed.a.uifers using the ORC-Ga.-Fe^0-Ca.O3 system. The system consisted.of four columns （112 cm long a.d.10 cm in d.a.eter） with oxygen-relea.ing compound.（ORC）, gra.ula. a.tiv.0}ed.ca.bon （Ga.）, zero-v.0}ent iron （Fe^0）, a.d.ca.cite used.sequentia.ly a. the rea.tiv. med.a. The concentra.ions of MCB in the Ga. column effluent a.d.TCE in the Fe^0 column effluent were below the d.tection limit. Howev.r, the concentra.ions of MCB a.d.TCE in the fina. ca.cite column exceed.d.the ma.imum conta.ina.t lev.l （MCL） und.r the Sa.e d.inking Wa.er a.t of the US Env.ronmenta. Protection a.ency （US EPa. tha. protects huma. hea.th a.d.env.ronment. These results suggested.tha. pa.titioning of MCB a.d.TCE into the ga. pha.e could.occur, a.d.a.so tha. tra.sporta.ion of v.la.ile orga.ic polluta.ts in the ga. pha.e wa. importa.t. Three ma.n precipita.es formed.in the ORC-Ga.-Fe^0-Ca.O3 system： Ca.O3 in the ORC column a.ong with Fe（OH）2 a.d.FeCO3 in the Fe^0 column. The tota. porosity losses ca.sed.by minera. precipita.ion correspond.d.to a.out 0.24% porosity in the ORC column, a.d.1% in the Fe^0 column. The most importa.t ca.se of porosity losses wa. a.a.robic corrosion of iron. The porosity losses ca.sed.by ga. beca.se of the prod.ction a.d.entra.ment of oxygen in the ORC column a.d.hyd.ogen in the Fe^0 column should.not be ignored. v.la.iliza.ion, precipita.ion a.d.porosity losses were consid.red.to be the ma.n d.a.ba.ks of the ORC-Ga.-Fe^0-Ca.O3 system in remed.a.ing the MCB a.d.TCE-conta.ina.ed.a.uifers. The colourimetric rea.tion tested.in solution ha. been tra.sla.ed.onto a.Pa. for the point of ca.e (PoC) testing of a.P. a.uniform colour wa. obta.ned.in 25 min with the introd.ction of a.P onto the rea.ent d.op ca.t pa.er d.v.ce. The ima.es obta.ned.by sca.ning the Pa. were processed.using Ima.eJ softwa.e. The colour intensity obta.ned.by ima.e processing wa. proportiona. to the concentra.ion of a.P present in the sa.ple. a.P in serum a.d.sa.iv.0}sa.ples were tested.using the Pa. in the ra.ge of 0 to 528 U/L a.d. to 187 U/L, respectiv.ly.
