Allelopathic Effects of Aqueous and Ethanolic Leaves Extracts of Schinus molle L. under Different Kinds of Pruning

Secondary metabolites produced by plants can be used in popular medicine, as well they can interact with plants and other organisms, in which case they are called allelochemicals and influence the neighboring ecosystem. This work aimed to evaluate the allelopathic effects of Schinus molle L. species widely used in reforestation and urban afforestation. Therefore, leaves of S. Molle were collected from different populations located at Alfenas and nepomuceno in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Cypselae of lettuce （Lactuca sativa L.） were germinated in biochemical oxygen demand （BOD） chamber at 25 ℃ with a photoperiod of 12 h under different extracts concentrations. The experiment was performed in factorial design （2 × 4） with two kinds of extracts （aqueous and ethanol） and four concentrations （2.5, 5, 10 and 20 mg/mL） in randomized blocks. The variables analyzed were germination （%）, germination speed index （GS1）, % of normal seedlings, root length, fresh biomass and dry biomass. Changes in the cell cycle in meristematic cells of the used model were also evaluated. Concentration-dependent effect on all parameters was observed, with the exception of dry biomass exposed to ethanol extract. The root elongation parameter was different between the extracts even in lower concentrations, thus indicating that this is the most sensitive parameter of this species. Toxic effect from S. rnolle extracts was observed in all parameters regardless the kind of pruning management or method of extraction （water or ethanol）.

Public perception of connected and automated vehicles:Benefits,concerns,and barriers from an Australian perspective

The pulp and paper industry converts roundwood and recycled fibre,collected from wastepaper into printing and writing papers,and other specialty grades of *** pulp and paper mills in Ontario have been facing extreme competitive pressures,which have affected their performance leading to several mill *** purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the relative performance of three types of Ontario’s pulp and paper mills(using all fibre,only roundwood fibre,and only recycled fibre).This study uses bootstrap data envelopment analysis in analyzing and comparing the operational efficiency of the Ontario’s pulp and paper mills,with 224 sample data observations over a period of 17 *** results indicate low levels of overall technical and managerial efficiencies in the pulp and paper mills using recycled *** results of the study highlight that the pulp and paper industry needs to divert their attention to streamlining the manufacturing processes,reducing costs,improving raw material usage,and making capital investments in the new and improved technology,in order to improve the operational efficiency and competitiveness of the Ontario’s pulp and paper *** pulp and paper mills using recycled fibre require huge capital investments,especially for installing the latest de-inking *** results of this study provide policy makers with detailed performance analysis so that future input resources can be reallocated to improve the performance of the pulp and paper mills in Ontario.

Impact of microbial self-induced anaerobiosis fermentation(SIAF)on coffee quality

The fermentation of natural(nC)and pulped coffee(PC)was performed with a conventional method(platform)and under self-induced anaerobic fermentation(SIAF).Of the 12 samples analyzed during the fermentation process,the highest temperature was obtained by the SIAF method(30.5℃ for nC and 29.67℃ for PC)with 87 h of *** compounds(36 samples)were evaluated by high-performance liquid *** in the SIAF method contributed to the maximum amount of citric acid(2.534 mg/g)in pulped coffee and acetic acid(6.04 mg/g)and lactic acid(2.533 mg/g)in *** was the primary chemical class detected,followed by ketones and *** coffees(12 samples)were evaluated five times and classified as specialty coffees(>80 points)following Specialty Coffee Association(SCA)*** pulped coffee processed by the SIAF method showed a 2.83-point increase in the sensory score compared to the conventional ***,the SIAF method is accessible to producers,contributes to coffees with differentiated sensory profiles,and increases beverage quality.

To date,the clinical use of functional near-infrared spectroscopy(nIRS)to detect cerebral ischemia has been largely limited to surgical settings,where motion artifacts are *** this study,we present novel techniques to address the challenges of using nIRS to monitor ambu-latory patients with kidney disease during approximately eight hours of hemodialysis(HD)*** with end-stage kidney disease who require HD are at higher risk for cognitive impairment and dementia than age-matched *** studies have suggested that HD-related declines in cerebral blood flow might explain some of the adverse outcomes of HD ***,there are currently no established paradigms for monitoring cerebral per-fusion in real-time during HD *** this study,we used nIRS to assess cerebral hemo-dynamic responses among 95 prevalent HD patients during two consecutive HD *** observed substantial signal attenuation in our predominantly Black patient cohort that required probe *** also observed consistent motion artifacts that we addressed by devel-oping a novel nIRS methodology,called the HD cerebral oxygen demand algorithm(HD-CODA),to identify episodes when cerebral oxygen demand might be outpacing supply during HD *** then examined the association between a summary measure of time spent in cerebral deoxygenation,derived using the HD-CODA,and hemodynamic and treatment-related *** found that this summary measure was associated with intradialytic mean arterial pressure,heart rate,and volume *** studies should use the HD-CODA to implement studies of real-time nIRS monitoring for incident dialysis patients,over longer time frames,and in other dialysis modalities.

With the advent of the pandemic, the Brazilian Ministry of Health structured in record time the Telehealth Service of the Unified Health System called TeleSUS, an ecosystem based on the intensive use of information technology involving automated mechanisms and a personalized health care center at distance. In addition to constant evaluations carried out in the service as a public health strategy, at clinical and epidemiological levels, the team involved in the project was also concerned with evaluating the system developed to enable the operation of remote care, from the conception of the organization of health actions to the technological development of the digital health tool. The objective of this study was to carry out an evaluation of a telehealth system, measuring the degree of satisfaction of users of health professionals regarding its usability and identifying factors that positively and/or negatively influence the evaluation.

Helicobacter pylori and EBV in gastric carcinomas:Methylation status and microsatellite instability

AIM:To verify the methylation status of CDH1, DAPK, COX2, hMLH1 and CDKn2A genes and to evaluate their association with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-cagA+ and Epstein Barr virus (EBV) infections in gastric ***: Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) assay was performed in 89 primary gastric carcinomas (intestinal and diffuse types). Microsatellite instability (MSI) analysis was performed using the BAT26 primer set and PCR products were analyzed with the ABI PRISM 3100 Genetic Analyzer using Genescan 3.7 software (Applied Biosystems). Detection of H. pylori and genotyping were performed by PCR, using specifi c primers for ureaseC and cagA genes. The presence of EBV was assessed by in situ hybridization. Statistical analyses were performed using the χ2 or Fisher's exact ***: The most frequent hypermethylated gene was COX-2 (63.5%) followed by DAPK (55.7%), CDH1 (51%), CDKn2A (36%) and hMLH1 (30.3%). Intestinal and diffuse adenocarcinomas showed different methylation profiles and there was an association between methylation of E-CDH1 and H. pylori-cagA+ in the intestinal adenocarcinoma type. MSI was correlated with hMLH1 methylation. There was an inverse correlation between DAPK hypermethylation and ***: We found a strong association between CDH1 methylation and H. pylori-cagA+ in intestinal-type gastric cancer, association of MSI and better prognosis and an heterogeneous COX-2 overexpression.

Defining Velocity and Acceleration Ranges for Time-Motion Analysis from a 7-Sided Game in U11 Soccer Players Using Global Positioning System Devices:A Case Study

The aims of this study were(1)to define speed and acceleration thresholds from youth match activity of soccer players and(2)to analyze the activity performed by young soccer players during a match using GPS devices and according to these *** U11 soccer players from a professional club participated in a 7-sided match being equipped with global positioning system(GPS)devices(sampling frequency 5 Hz)to measure the speed of each *** Kernel Density Esti-mate(KDE)was used to observe the occurrences of *** range of velocities was described by a distribution curve,from which the speed and acceleration thresholds for each category of movement were defined and time–motion analysis of the match was *** model with 4 Gaussian laws was the best when using the Akaike Information Criterion(AIC).In this study,the thresholds defined for each category of movement were:standing(ng(0.1–5.6 km/h),slow running(5.7–7.7 km/h),fast running(7.8–12.7 km/h)and sprint(≥12.8 km/h).Acceleration thresholds were calculated to define movement considered as a sprint for each category of movement:standing(0.3 m/s^(2)),walking(0.66 m/s^(2)),slow running(1.01 m/s^(2))or fast running(0.97 m/s^(2)).All the acceleration thresholds were significantly different from each other(Png the comparison between slow and fast running(P=0.41)with a small effect *** U-11 soccer players,time–motion analysis may be performed according to five categories of *** study has also defined sprint and acceleration thresholds for this category of age.
