The present work reports the preliminary results about solid state reactions of Cr-ZnO solid solutions and ZnCr2O4 nanometric particles obtained with triethanolamine (TEA). Different compositions were prepared from 0.65 to 33.3 at % chromium, the last one corresponding to ZnCr2O4 cubic spinel composition. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) together with X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of powders with Cr3+ between 0.65 and 16.0 at % were assigned to Cr-ZnO solid solution due to the only presence of ZnO structure, FTIR spectra indicating that Cr-O bonding exists even if there was no presence of ZnCr2O4. With low chromium atomic percent, lattice parameters increase, but as the chromium content exceeds of 3 at %, there is basically no further expansion of the cell. From Williamson-Hall and Rietveld methods the lattice dimensions were assigned to chromium incorporation in ZnO structure and the lattice contraction by particle size refinement. After annealing all samples from 0.65 to 16.0 at % at 400°C in oxygen, the analysis showed that nanoparticles of Cr-ZnO solid solution still remain.

Introduction: Psychological distress can affect every worker’s mental health or working ability, and specifically the healthcare workers. It is essential to prevent and treat it in order to anticipate predictable consequences. The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of psychological distress among the healthcare workers in the city of Douala. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out during the 1st semester of 2023 in two reference hospitals of the city of Douala. All volunteer staff from the targeted hospitals were involved. We collected data using a mixed questionnaire that included the working conditions, as of the socioprofessional and psychological characteristics of the healthcare workers. We measured the level of psychological distress using the Kessler scale. Analysis was performed using the Chi-2 test and multivariate analysis. Threshold value was & = 5%, p Results: The participation rate was 86.3%. Women (81.7%) and nurses (77.6%) predominated in the sample. The mean age was 35.38 ± 8.9 years, and individuals in their thirties accounted for 46.79% of the sample. The prevalence of psychological distress was 19.5%. The psychological distress was categorized as mild (48.72%), moderate (18.46%) or severe (32.82%). Risk factors for psychological distress included being of the catholic faith (OR = 3.6, p = 0.04), poor sleep quality (OR = 3.9, p = 0.001) and long working hours (OR = 2.2, p = 0.002). Overtime was the only protective factor identified (OR = 0.6, p = 0.04). Conclusion: Nearly 1 out of 5 healthcare workers suffered from psychological distress exacerbated by poor working and living conditions. There is an urgent need to improve their working conditions to prevent the development of more severe consequences.

Breast Cancer and Its Screening Awareness in the North Region of Cameroon

Due to the late diagnosis, resulting partly from the absence of national screening programs, breast cancer has become a real public health problem in Cameroon, particularly in rural areas. This work aimed to assess breast cancer awareness in the North Region of Cameroon. Participants were selected randomly in six health centers surrounding rural areas of Garoua, North Region of Cameroon, and administered a questionnaire aimed at assessing their awareness about breast cancer warning signs and screening methods. Out of 475 women (including 37 medical personnel) interviewed, 23.3% had misconceptions and myth-based ideas on the origin of the disease. Employed women were more aware of breast cancer, its risk factors and symptoms as compared to other groups (p < 0.0001) for most of the risk factors and symptoms. Participants with higher education and employed women were also more aware of breast cancer screening, including breast self-examination mammography, and breast ultrasound (p < 0.0001 vs. other groups). Breast cancer screening and breast self-examination were mostly performed by women with higher education and employed women (p < 0.0001 compared to other groups). Ignorance was the main reason preventing women from performing breast self-examination and the high cost prevented going for mammography. Our study highlights the need to raise awareness among

为了研究整个含天然气水合物沉积层的磁性参数的变化，综合大洋钻探项目（IODP）316航次在位于日本岸外西南海域的南海海槽Megasplay断层带的C0008A孔位进行了高精度的岩石磁性研究。从海底之下大约110～153m的岩心深度区间总计得到了169个离散的更新世岩心样品，并且对他们的磁性矿物浓度、颗粒尺寸、成分以及岩石磁性参数做了评估。结果表明存在氧化铁（（钛）-磁铁矿）、硫化铁（硫复铁矿和磁黄铁矿）以及他们的混合物，其中单畴硫复铁矿是样品中最重要的磁性矿物。经证实含有亚铁磁性铁硫化物（海底之下114．5～127．5m和129．5～150m岩心深度）的两套沉积层覆盖了几乎整个研究层段，均和少量的局部孔隙水异常有关，这表明存在天然气水合物以及缺氧环境。这些结果不同于邻近的C0008C孔位（距C0008A孔位215m），在与C0008A相同的时间切片中，C0008C孔位中发现了四处孔隙水异常及六个富硫化铁层位。通过对C0008站位的两个孔位岩心样品进行岩石学、物理性质以及地球化学数据对比，表明一系列过程的组合（比如活性铁矿物的存在、微生物活动）导致了亚铁磁性铁硫化物在横向上的分布不均。

Congenital Toxoplasmosis or the Tip of an Iceberg. Report of Two Cases

Among the many parasitic diseases observed in the tropics, Toxoplasmosis is a fairly common occurrence. An infected pregnant woman can transmit it, transplacentally, to her foetus. Two cases of congenital toxoplasmosis are discussed in this study. One patient is at 7 days of life, while the other is at 9 days of life. The newborns displayed the typical symptoms of jaundice, hepatosplenomegaly, chorioretinitis, and cranioencephalic abnormalities. However, the uniqueness of these observations is the presence of umbilical haemorrhage, a symptom not described in the literature researched. The evolution of this finding, during treatment is distinguished by the symptoms persisting until six months of age, in addition to growth retardation of saturation-weight, with no retardation of psychomotor development in one patient, and with hydrocephalus accompanied by psychomotor retardation in the other one. Hence, it is recommended that pregnant women are systematically screened for toxoplasmosis, and seronegative women are monitored;in fact, the early and suitable management of congenital toxoplasmosis will significantly control this parasitosis.

Prostate Cancer Characteristics and Associated Factors in Northern Cameroon

Background: The incidence of prostate cancer in Cameroon has been increasing in an alarming rate. The aim of this study is to characterize the form of prostate cancer and associated factors in patients from Cameroon Northern Regions. Methods: All patients with positive prostate biopsy (cancer+) from June 2018 to November 2019 were studied (n = 177). The followings were retrieved: digital rectal examination, standard clinical examinations, laboratory data such as serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level, and the Gleason score. Patients self-administered a questionnaire assessing prostate cancer’s risk factors. Results: Patients were mainly from the Far North region (36.72%), and were either farmers or breeders (48.01%). Only prostate adenocarcinoma was present, with predominance of aggressive forms (Gleason score ≥ 7). Significant relationships were observed between Gleason score and 1) patients’ age (P = 0.006), 2) history of urinary tract infections (P = 0.015) and of exposure to agricultural products (P = 0.049), 3) clinical signs (nycturia, pollakiuria, poor acute urine retention, and dysuria) (P = 0.019), 4) prostate weight, and

Many experimental studies have contributed to the development of the theory of trophic chains in lacustrine habitats. They have revealed the important role played by fish, a subject that has been mostly ignored by limnological studies for the past few decades. Most of these studies were developed in Europe and in the United States. The general applicability of this theory has not yet been tested in subtropical and tropical habitats. In spite of controversies, the bottom-up: top-down trophic cascade hypotheses are the most adopted conceptual models. In this context, we examined if these hypotheses may be corroborated by data from the subtropical Itaipu Reservoir. A negative effect was verified between water transparency and total suspended solids. The detritivorous fish exerted a controlling effect on chlorophyll-a concentrations. Bottom-up effects were detected in four trophic levels, and top-down was detected in just one trophic level. The limnological variates influenced the chlorophyll-a concentration, which indicated that the lnTKN plus the effect of the quarter and the reservoir zone (and their interaction) were important.

The air quality directive （2008/50/EC （of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008）） requires European Member States to design appropriate AQPs （air quality plans） for zones and agglomerations where the air quality does not comply with the limit values and to assess possible emission reduction measures to decrease concentration levels. The Portuguese agglomeration of Porto Litoral is one of the several European Union urban areas that had to develop and implement AQPs to reduce particulate matter （PM10）. The AQPs were initially designed based on a scenario approach and using an air quality model, which was applied over the study region for the reference situation with the current PM10 emissions, and for a reduction scenario with PM10 emissions re-estimated considering the implementation of abatement measures. Aiming to cost-efficiently optimize Porto Litoral PM10 abatement measures, the assessment procedure was repeated using an optimization approach based on the RIAT ＋（regional integrated assessment tool ＋）. Porto Litoral urban area＇s technical and non-technical measures were characterized （including associated costs） and, through the application of the air quality model to 20 emissions abatement scenarios, S-R （source-receptor） relationships were created. This paper comparatively describes the air quality plans designed to improve PM10 levels in the Porto Litoral agglomeration based on both the scenario analysis and the optimization approach.

We evaluated the pathogenicity of six strains 1. fumosorosea to determine their potential as biological control agents of A. ludens by performing bioassays under laboratory conditions （25 ± 2 ℃, 60± 5% R.H and 12：12 h L： D） exposing larvae and pupae to a concentration of 1 × 10^8 conidia per milliliter using three different methods： direct spraying, spray of soil and submerged for both instars. The results showed that direct spraying method Pfr-612 strain showed the highest mortality （47%） in pupae while for larvae was strain HIB-27 to 46%. Regarding spray of soil Pfr-612 strain showed the highest percentage of mortality for pupae and larvae with 45 and 57% mortality, respectively. Finally, for the submerged method in pupae HIB-27 strain showed 62% mortality whereas in larvae HIB-32 strain showed 46%. These results indicate that A. ludens is susceptible in at least two instars to L fumosorosea and make this fungus a promising agent for control of the Mexican fruit fly.
