This study highlights the potential impacts of blockchain technology on the collaborativeeconomy(CE),colloquially known as the sharing *** conceptual review firstanalyzes how the CE intersects with the blockchain *** consumptioninvolves an intensification of peer-to-peer trade,underpinned by robust digital in-frastructures and processes,hence an increased use of new technologies and a redefinitionof business *** an inherently connected economy,the CE is,therefore,prone tointegrating the most recent technological advances including artificial intelligence,bigdata analysis,augmented reality,the smart grid,and blockchain *** reviewthen furthers the examination of the organizational and managerial implications related tothe use of blockchain technology in terms of governance,transaction costs,and userconfidence.A closing case finally examines the role of a prominent social networking site(i.e.,Facebook)in the CE-blockchain nexus.

Among the impacts of climate change,there is the intensification of phenomena such as the El Niño South-ern Oscillation(ENSO)responsible for El Niño and La Niñ***,understanding their effects on the functional pro-cesses of forests is ***,this study evaluated the effects of ENSO on litter stock and water holding capac-ity(WHC)in a successional forest in eastern *** occurred in periods with the most rainfall in El Niño(2019)and least in La Niña(2021)*** permanent plots were used to sample *** effects were evident for WHC,higher during El Niñ***,this influence was not clear for litter,as only in the rainy season effects were *** was a positive correlation of WHC with precipitation and humidity,while litter stocks were negatively correlated with temperature and wind *** the subject of this study requires long-term assessments,preliminary results suggests that,depending on the intensity of ENSO,forest functional processes can be strongly impacted and *** conclusion reinforces warnings by the scientific community about the impacts of climate change on the maintenance of litter stocks,decomposition and,consequently,the biogeochemical cycle and essential ecosystem services for the maintenance of Amazonia *** need to develop long-term research to understand the effects of climatic change on litter stocks and water holding capacity is highlighted,especially in Amazonia.

Buruli ulcer is the third most common mycobacterial disease worldwide, posing a significant public health burden, especially in impoverished regions of West and Central Africa, such as Benin. The management of Buruli ulcer (BU) in Africa is often hindered by limited resources, delays in treatment, and inadequate medical facilities. Additionally, a portion of the population does not seek hospital care, which facilitates the continued presence of the pathogen in the environment. This paper aims to investigate the role of environmental factors in the transmission of Buruli ulcer. We develop a mathematical model to describe the dynamics of Buruli ulcer transmission, incorporating the presence of the bacterium in the environment. Theoretical results are presented to demonstrate that the model is well-posed. We compute the equilibria, including the disease-free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium, and study their stability. To achieve this, we derive a threshold parameter called the basic reproduction number ℛ0, which determines whether the disease will persist in a human population. If ℛ0is less than one, the disease will eventually die out;if ℛ0is greater than one, the disease will persist. Sensitivity analysis is performed to understand the impact of various parameters on the dynamics of Buruli ulcer transmission and to identify the parameters that influence the basic reproduction number ℛ0. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to validate the theoretical results obtained from the mathematical analysis.

Objective: This study aims to systematically examine the existing evidence regarding the clinical benefits of carbocysteine as an adjunctive treatment in acute bronchopulmonary and otorhinological processes. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources: An electronic search was conducted across PubMed, Cochrane Library, ***, and the European Clinical Trial Register, with the search dated to May 2023. Bibliographic references from other literature reviews and meta-analyses were also reviewed. The search was limited to randomized clinical trials published in any language and year. It was completed by cross-checking the references of the located articles. Methods: Inclusion criteria covered studies assessing systemic or inhaled carbocysteine, regardless of dosing regimen. Concomitant medication use was acceptable if balanced between intervention and control groups. Authors independently extracted data, resolving disagreements through consensus. Methodological quality assessment relied on critical reading of each study. Dichotomous variables were analyzed using odds ratio (OR), and a final effect size was calculated. Statistical significance was established when confidence intervals did not cross the neutral value. Heterogeneity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 index. Results: Out of 318 initially identified studies, 4 met inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis for poor general condition yielded an OR of 0.45 in favor of intervention, p = 0.013, with non-significant heterogeneity. Cough events showed a percentage of 15.8% for carbocysteine vs. 27.2% for placebo. On the seventh day, expectoration rates were 18.37% for carbocysteinevs 33.3% for placebo. Conclusions: The observed clinical benefits align with carbocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-regulatory properties, complemented by anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions. From mammals to plants, the Polycomb Group （PcG） machinery plays a crucial role in maintaining the repres- sion of genes that are not required in a specific differentiation status. However, the mechanism by which PeG machinery mediates gene repression is still largely unknown in plants. Compared to animals, few PcG proteins have been identi- fied in plants, not only because just some of these proteins are clearly conserved to their animal counterparts, but also because some PcG functions are carried out by plant-specific proteins, most of them as yet uncharacterized. For a long time, the apparent lack of Polycomb Repressive Complex （PRC）I components in plants was interpreted according to the idea that plants, as sessile organisms, do not need a long-term repression, as they must be able to respond rapidly to environmental signals; however, some PRC1 components have been recently identified, indicating that this may not be the case. Furthermore, new data regarding the recruitment of PcG complexes and maintenance of PcG repression in plants have revealed important differences to what has been reported so far. This review highlights recent progress in plant PcG function, focusing on the role of the putative PRC1 components.

Cubitermes spp. are widely distributed soil-feeding termite species in sub- Saharan Africa which play a fundamental role in soil structure and fertility. A complex of at least four cryptic species （i.e., Cubitermes sp. affunis subarquatus complex of species） has been recently described using molecular markers. In order to investigate the breeding system of these species, five microsatellite markers were used to carry out parentage and re- latedness analyses in 15 Gabonese colonies. Monogamy was confirmed as the predominant reproductive organization in Cubitermes spp. （76% of the colonies）. Within 30% of these monogamous colonies, a high relatedness between reproductives was shown, suggesting that mating between related individuals occurs. However, Cubitermes colonies can deviate from monogamy. Indeed, parental contributions by at least two related reproductives of the same sex were revealed in four colonies and polyandry was demonstrated in two of them. Infiltration of reproductives in the colony is the most plausible explanation for such cases of polygamy in Cubitermes spp.

Quality audit of colonoscopy reports amongst patients screened or surveilled for colorectal neoplasia

AIM： To complete a quality audit using recently pub- lished criteria from the Quality Assurance Task Group of the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. METHODS： Consecutive colonoscopy reports of patients at average/high risk screening, or with a prior col6rectal neoplasia （CRN） by endoscopists who perform 11 000 procedures yearly, using a commercial computerized endoscopic report generator. A separate institutional da- tabase providing pathological results. Required documen- tation included patient demographics, history, procedure indications, technical descriptions, colonoscopy findings, interventions, unplanned events, follow-up plans, and pathology results. Reports abstraction employed a stan- dardized glossary with 10% independent data validation. Sample size calculations determined the number of re- ports ***： Two hundreds and fifty patients （63.2± 10.5 years, female： 42.8%, average risk： 38.5%, per- sonal/family history of CRN： 43.3%/20.2%） were scoped in June 2009 by 8 gastroenterologists and 3 surgeons （mean practice： 17.1 ± 8.5 years）. Procedural indica- tion and informed consent were always documented. 14% provided a previous colonoscopy date （past polyp removal information in 25%, but insufficient in most to determine surveillance intervals appropriateness）. Most procedural indicators were recorded （exam date： 98.4%, medications： 99.2%, difficulty level： 98.8%, prep quality： 99.6%）. All reports noted extent of visualization （cecum： 94.4%, with landmarks noted in 78.8% - photodocu- mentation： 67.2%）. No procedural times were recorded. One hundred and eleven had polyps （44.4%） with ana- tomic location noted in 99.1%, size in 65.8%, morphol- ogy in 62.2%; removal was by cold biopsy in 25.2% （cold snare： 18%, snare cautery： 31.5%, unrecorded： 20.7%）, 84.7% were retrieved.
