Effect of Peripheral Arterial Disease on Serum Ischemia-Modified Albumin Levels in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of IMA and the effect of Type-2 diabetes in peripheral arterial ischemic patient. Methods: In our study, randomized patient groups to be undergone peripheral surgery, consisting of 16 diabetic and 12 non-diabetic patients diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease, have been examined. After standard anesthesia, the surgery was performed by the same surgical team, blood samples were taken before and after cross-clamp, and the levels of ischemia modified albumin (IMA), which is a new ischemic marker, were studied spectrophotometrically. Demographic data were compared with the type-2 diabetes association. Results: In this study, we found that there were no correlation with the ankle brachial index (ABI) and risk factors of diabetes between postoperative IMA levels (P: 0.47). Preoperative IMA serum blood levels were significantly higher in patients with peripheral arterial disease (P: 0.70), and positively associated with ABI (diabetic group P: 0.04, non-diabetic group P: 00). Also, no correlation was found with X clamp times, ABI, and IMA blood levels (P: 0.30). In diabetic group, ischemia marker increase was high and there was a positive correlation between HbA1c levels (P: 0.002). Conclusion: Our study suggested that, preoperative serum IMA levels were positively associated with ABI. In diabetic group, the increase in IMA levels was high and there was positive correlation between HbA1c levels. IMA was a benefit marker for monitoring and early diagnosis of the peripheral arterial disease.

We present ultrasound, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings in a case with pancreatic solid pseudopapillary tumor and their correlations with histopathology. Ultrasound revealed a hypoechogenic mass, and computed tomography revealed a hypodense mass at the pancreatic head minimally enhanced after intravenous contrast agent administration. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a hypointense mass on unenhanced Tl-weighted images including a hyperintense focus representing the hemorrhage. The lesion was hyperintense on T2- weighted images. On the postcontrast images the lesion showed peripheral thin contrast enhancement in arterial phase and enhanced slightly diffusely in venous and equilibrium phases. The patient underwent elective resection of the mass and pancreatoduodenectomy with jejunostomy tube placement. A final diagnosis of solid pseudopapillary tumor was made histoPathologically. Solid pseudopapillary tumor is a rare pancreatic tumor. It is important to make the diagnosis preoperatively because with an adequate surgical resection the prognosis is good. A multimodalitary approach, especially magnetic resonance imaging can suggest the diagnosis without the need for biopsy.

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to develop an approach to compare occupational health and safety(OHS)performances of ***,another aim is to debate the impacts of using recorded data and ratios for OHS performance ***/methodology/approach-The number of fatal accidents(NFAs),fatal accident rates(FARs),numbers of lost days(NLDs)and accident severity rates(ASRs)are determined as main criteria and six economic activity areas(EAAs)are considered as *** different initial decision matrices are used as the initial decision matrix,the first of which consists of recorded data of countries related to NFAs and NLDs,and the second consists of FAR and ASR values as *** weights of main and sub-criteria regarding the recorded data and ratios are determined using four different weighting *** are ranked via utilizing Multi-Attributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis considering two different initial decision ***-It can be stated that an evaluation based on ratios for comparison of OHS performance provides more realistic ***,increasing the effect of the FAR values using the 6,000 equivalent lost days factor is also important in terms of differentiating the data of the countries in ***/value-To the best of the authors’knowledge,there is no study in literature that discusses the ranking of countries by means of recorded data and ratios considering different ***,this study is a first in terms of the number of countries evaluated and the comparison of these countries according to their respective EAAs.

Interfacial behavior of cysteine (Cys) between mild steel and sulfuric acid solution as a corrosion inhibitor has been studied with electrochemical AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) techniques at (25.0±0.1) ℃. The AC impedance results were evaluated using equivalent circuits in which a constant phase element (CPE) has been replaced with double layer capacitance (Cdl) to represent the frequency distribution of experimental data. Changes in impedance parameters (charge transfer resistance and double layer capacitance) indicated that cysteine molecules acted by accumulating at the metal/solution interface. The fractional coverage of the metal surface (θ) was determined using AC impedance results and it was found that the adsorption of cysteine on the mild steel surface followed a Langmuir isotherm model with a standard free energy of adsorption (△G0 ads) of -35.1 kJ·mol-1. To clarify the type of interaction between mild steel surface and cysteine molecules with a molecular orbital approach, electronic properties, such as, the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy, the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy, and the frontier molecular orbital coefficients have been calculated. Energy gaps for the interaction of mild steel surface and cysteine molecules (ELUMO Fe-EHOMO Cys and ELUMO Cys-EHOMO Fe) were used to determine whether cysteine molecules acted as electron donors or electron acceptors when they interacted with the mild steel surface. The local reactivity was evaluated through the condensed Fukui indices. Theoretical calculations were carried out using the density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP level with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for all atoms by Gaussian 03W program.

Al4Cu2Ni2Mg alloy is an age-hardenable aluminum alloy. The effect of different solution and aging heat treatment conditions on the microstructure, hardness and wear resistance of the alloy was studied. The cast specimens were solution treated and then artificially aged. Optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to investigate the microstructures of the specimens. The hardness and wear tests were applied to understanding the effects of heat treatment. After aging for 8 h, the hardness of the alloy increases from HV 10 96.5 to 151.1. Aging treatment for a longer duration causes a drop in the hardness because of over aging. Increasing the hardness of the alloy increases the wear resistance. As a result of all tests, solution heat treatment at 540 °C for 8 h and aging at 190 °C for 8 h were chosen for optimum heat treatment conditions for this alloy.

The influence of Cu content on the microstructure and hardness of near-eutectic Al-Si-xCu（x = 2%,3%,4% and 5%） was *** melting Al-based alloys with different Cu contents,alloys were cast in green sand molds at 690 °C and *** solution treatment was performed at 500 °C for 7 h and then the specimens were cooled by water *** samples were respectively aged at 190 °C for 5,10 and 15 h to observe the effect of aging time on the hardness of *** differential thermal analysis was used to obtain the transition temperature of the equilibrium phases at cooling rate of 30 K/min and to determine the effect of Cu content on the formation of quaternary eutectic phases and the melting point of-（Al）＋ *** results show that as Cu content in the alloy increases,the hardness of matrix increases due to precipitation hardening,the melting point of -（Al）＋ Si decreases and the amount of these eutectic phases increases,quaternary eutectic phase with melting point of 507 -C forms when Cu content is more than 2%.

Stump appendicitis is an acute inflammation of the residual appendix and one of the rare complications after appendectomy. Paying attention to the possibility of stump appendicitis in patients with right lower abdominal pain after appendectomy can prevent the delay of diagnosis and treatment. In patients with stump appendicitis, CT scan not only assists in making an accurate preoperative diagnosis but also excludes other etiologies. We report a 47-year old man with preoperatively diagnosed stump appendicitis by CT, who underwent an open appendectomy 20 years ago.
