Technological Impact on the Quality of palm Oil from Burundi: Elaeis guineensis, Variety of Dura and Tenera

The objective of this study is to determine the factors responsible for the acidification of Burundi palm oils. The investigation of the duration of fermentation of palm fruits performed among artisanal producers found that more than 89% of producers from commune of Rumonge ferment for more than 5 days while more than 61% of those from commune of Mutimbuzi ferment for 4 days. The determination of acid value using the method of ISO 660:2009 showed that Dura and Tenera varieties fermented for 4 days had respectively 5.9 ± 2.3 and 5.8 ± 1.8 mg of KOH/g of oil for clustered fruits, 7.03 ± 3.4 and 7.02 ± 3.2 mg of KOH/g for destemmed fruits. After 8 days, the acid values of Dura and Tenera varieties obtained were respectively 10.9 ± 4.7 and 12.5 ± 5.4 mg KOH/g for clustered fruits, 12.5 ± 5.4 and 12.5 ± 4.1 mg KOH/g for destemmed fruits. No significant difference was recorded between varieties. On the other hand, a highly significant difference at p pen air (e.g. around the foot of the oil palm, FFOA), in a shed when the fruits were not covered (SFNC) and in a shed when the fruits were covered by branches or straw (SFC). At 8 days of fermentation, the acid values of FFOA, SFNC and SFC were 9.1 ± 0.7 pectively. In light of these results, the acidity of Rumonge palm oil is probably due to the long fermentation time and the technique of covering the fruits during fermentation. These results will allow producers to extract good quality oil and consequently improve the health of consumers.

BACKGROUND With an ongoing demand for transplantable organs,optimization of donor management protocols,specifically in trauma populations,is important for obta-ining a high yield of viable organs per *** management of brain-dead potential organ donors(BpODs)is controversial,leading to heterogeneous clinical management *** studies have shown that when levo-thyroxine was combined with other treatments,including steroids,vasopressin,and insulin,BpODs had better organ recovery and survival outcomes were increased for transplant *** To determine if levothyroxine use in combination with steroids in BpODs increased the number of organs donated in trauma *** A retrospective review of adult BpODs from a single level 1 trauma center over ten years was *** criteria included patients who were not solid organ donors,patients who were not declared brain dead(donation after circulatory death),and patients who did not receive steroids in their hospital *** and steroid administration,the number of organs donated,the types of organs donated,and demographic information were *** analyses were performed with ppatients met inclusion criteria,69(78%)of whom received levothyroxine and steroids(ST/LT group)vs 19(22%)receiving steroids without levothyroxine(ST group).No differences were observed between the groups for gender,race,pertinent injury factors,age,or other hormone therapies used(p>0.05).In the ST/LT group,68.1%(n=47)donated a high yield(3-5)of organ types per donor compared to 42.1%(n=8)in the ST group(p=0.038).There was no difference in the total number of organ types donated between the groups(p=0.068).CONCLUSION This study suggests that combining levothyroxine and steroid administration increases high-yield organ donation per donor in BpODs in the trauma patient *** to this study include

Variant selection in stationary shoulder friction stir welded Ti-6Al-4V alloy

Stationary shoulder friction stir welding of Ti-6Al-4V of 7 mm thickness was conducted with varying welding speeds and rotation speeds. Variant selection analysis was carried out based on the inherited α phase texture and the reconstructed 13 phase texture. The weld surfaces became significantly smoother with increasing welding speed and decreasing rotation speed. Heat input decreased greatly with increased welding speed and it decreased slightly with decreased rotation speed. The orientation relationship between the prior 13 grains was measured based on the reconstructed electron backscattered diffraction （EBSD） data. Weak Variant selection has occurred in all the welds because most of the prior 13 grains did not share { 110} poles. Strong links between crystal orientation of the prior 13 grains and hardness have been found.

Accurate and scalable graph neural network force field and molecular dynamics with direct force architecture

Recently,machine learning(ML)has been used to address the computational cost that has been limiting ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD).Here,we present GNNFF,a graph neural network framework to directly predict atomic forces from automatically extracted features of the local atomic environment that are translationally-invariant,but rotationally-covariant to the coordinate of the *** demonstrate that GNNFF not only achieves high performance in terms of force prediction accuracy and computational speed on various materials systems,but also accurately predicts the forces of a large MD system after being trained on forces obtained from a smaller ***,we use our framework to perform an MD simulation of Li7p3S11,a superionic conductor,and show that resulting Li diffusion coefficient is within 14%of that obtained directly from *** high performance exhibited by GNNFF can be easily generalized to study atomistic level dynamics of other material systems.

Above-ground woody biomass allocation and within tree carbon and nutrient distribution of wild cherry(prunus avium L.)-a case study

Background： The global search for new ways to sequester carbon has already reached agricultural lands. Such land constitutes a major potential carbon sink. The production of high value timber within agroforestry systems can facilitate an in-situ carbon storage function. This is followed by a potential long term ex- situ carbon sinkwithin long lasting products such as veneer and furniture. For this purpose wild cherry （prunus avium L.） is an interesting option for middle Europe, yielding high prices on the timber market. Methods： A total number of 39 wild cherry were sampled in 2012 and 2013 to assess the leafless above ground biomass. The complete trees including stem and branches were separated into 1 cm diameter classes. Wood and bark from sub-samples were analysed separately and nutrient content was derived. Models for biomass estimation were constructed for all tree compartments. Results： The smallest diameter classes possess the highest proportion of bark due to smaller cross sectional area. Tree boles with a greater amount of stem wood above 10 cm in diameter will have a more constant bark proportion. Total branch bark proportion also remains relatively constant above *** measurements of 8 cm. A balance is evident between the production of new branches with a low diameter and high bark proportion offset by the thickening and a relative reduction in bark proportion in larger branches. The results show that a single tree with an age of 17 and 18 years can store up to 85 kg of carbon within the aboveground biomass portion, an amount that will increase as the tree matures. Branches display greater nutrient content than stem sections per volume unit which can be attributed to a greater bark proportion. Conclusions： Using the derived models the carbon and the nutrient content of above-ground woody biomass of whole trees can be calculated. Hospitalized ulcerative colitis patients have an elevated risk of thromboembolic events

AIM: To compare thromboembolism rates between hospitalized patients with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and other hospitalized patients at high risk for thromboembolism. To compare thromboembolism rates between patients with ulcerative colitis undergoing a colorectal operation and other patients undergoing colorectal operations. METHODS: Data from the National Hospital Discharge Survey was used to compare thromboembolism rates between (1) hospitalized patients with a discharge diagnosis of ulcerative colitis and those with diverticulitis or acute respiratory failure, and (2) hospitalized patients with a discharge diagnosis of ulcerative colitis who underwent colectomy and those with diverticulitis or colorectal cancer who underwent colorectal operations. RESULTS: patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis had similar or higher rates of combined venous thromboembolism (2.03%) than their counterparts with diverticulitis (0.76%) or respiratory failure (1.99%), despite the overall greater prevalence of thromboembolic risk factors in the latter groups. Discharged patients with colitis that were treated surgically did not have signifi cantly different rates of venous or arterial thromboembolism than those with surgery for diverticulitis or colorectal ***: patients with ulcerative colitis who do not undergo an operation during their hospitalization have similar or higher rates of thromboembolism than other medical patients who are considered to be high risk for thromboembolism.

The evolution of coal, examining the transitions from anthracite to natural graphite: a spectroscopy and optical microscopy evaluation

Coal-derived natural graphite(CDNG)has multiple industrial ***,ten metamorphic coals from anthracite to CDNG were obtained from Lutang and Xinhua in the Hunan province and panshi in the Jilin *** characterization(proximate and ultimate analyses,X-Ray powder diffraction(XRD),and powder Raman spectroscopy),along with optical microscopy,scanning electron microscope(SEM)and micro-Raman spectroscopy were utilized to examine the transitions from anthracite to semi-graphite to *** XRD and Raman spectroscopy data indicate that from anthracite to highly ordered graphite the average crystal diameter(La)and height(Lc)increased from 6.1 and 4.6 nm to 34.8 and 27.5 nm,*** crystalline parameters of the CDNG samples from panshi and Lutang varied slightly when closer to the intrusive *** microscopy and SEM indicated that in the anthracite samples there were thermoplastic vitrinite,devolatilized vitrinite,and some“normal”*** the meta-anthracite,pyrolytic carbon,mosaic structure,and crystalline tar were *** the CDNG there were flake graphite,crystalline aggregates,and matrix *** crystalline aggregates show the highest structural ordering degree as determined from Raman spectral parameters(full-width at half maxima(G-FWHM)~20 cm^(−1),D1/(D1+D2+G)area ratio(R2)valuephite is less ordered with G-FWHM~28 cm^(−1) and 0.5p to 50μm).The mosaic structures were likely the precursors of the matrix graphite through in situ solid-state *** pyrolytic carbon and crystalline tars are the transient phase of gas-state and liquid-state *** study is beneficial to realize the rational utilization of CDNG.

predictive Factors of Renal Failure in COVID-19 patients at the Anti-COVID Center in Lome, Togo

Background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 has been identified as the receptor that allows the entry of SarsCov2 into the human cell. Its expression in the kidney is 100 times higher than in the lung;thus, making the kidney an excellent target for SarsCov2 infection manifesting as renal failure (RF). The objective of this study was to determine the predictive factors of RF during COVID-19 in the Togolese context. patients and Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study conducted at the Lomé Anti-COVID Center including the records of patients hospitalized for COVID-19, of age ≥ 18 years and having performed a creatinemia. RF was defined by a GFR 2 calculated according to the MDRD formula. patients were randomized into 2 groups according to GFRResults: 482 patients were selected for this study with a mean age of 58.02 years. Sixty-five percent of the patients were men, i.e., a sex ratio of 1.88. Fifty-two patients had RF, i.e., a frequency of 10.8%.There were 65% men (315 cases), for a sex ratio (M/F) of 1.88. Risk factors for renal failure in COVID-19 were age ≥ 65 years (ORa 2.42;CIa95% [1.17 - 4.95];p = 0.016), anemia (ORa 2.49;CIa95% [1.21 - 5.26];p = 0.015), moderate (ORa 13;CIa95% [2.30 - 2.44];p = 0.017), severe (ORa 26.2;CIa95% [4.85 - 4.93];p = 0.002) and critical (ORa 108;CIa95% [16.5 - 21.76];p Conclusion: Renal failure would therefore be related to the severity of COVID-19 and is the most formidable factor, conditioning the course of the disease and the patient’s vital prognosis.
