Aim： To investigate the role of CAG and GGN repeats as genetic background affecting androgen insensitivity syndrome （AIS） phenotype. Methods： We analyzed lengths of androgen receptor （AR）-CAG and GGN repeats in 69 AIS cases, along with 136 unrelated normal male individuals. The lengths of repeats were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction （PCR） amplification followed by allelic genotyping to determine allele length. Results： Our study revealed significantly shorter mean lengths of CAG repeats in patients （mean 18.25 repeats, range 14-26 repeats） in comparison to the controls （mean 22.57 repeats, range 12-39 repeats）（two-tailed P 〈 0.0001）. GGN repeats, however, did not differ significantly between patients （mean 21.48 repeats） and controls （mean 21.21 repeats）（two- tailed P = 0.474）. Among patients＇ groups, the mean number of CAG repeats in partial androgen insensitivity cases （mean 15.83 repeats） was significantly less than in complete androgen insensitivity cases （mean 19.46 repeats）（two- tailed P 〈 0.0001）. Conclusion： The findings suggest that shorter lengths of repeats in the AR gene might act as low penetrance genetic background in varying manifestation of androgen insensitivity.

Dry sliding wear is one of the predominant factors to be considered while selecting material for automotive and aerospace applications. Researchers have been exploring novel aluminium matrix composites(AMC), which offer minimum wear rate for various tribological applications. In this present work, an attempt has been made to reinforce LM13 aluminium alloy with copper coated steel fibers(10 wt.%) using squeeze casting process and to perform dry sliding wear test using pin-on-disc tribometer. Microstructure of cast samples was examined using image analysis system to investigate the dispersion of reinforcement in matrix. Dry sliding wear test was performed by considering factors such as load(10–50 N), sliding velocity(1–5 m·s(-1)) and sliding distance(500–2,500 m). Wear test was performed according to the experimental design at room temperature. Three factors and five levels central composite design were used to design the experiments using response surface methodology. Based on the results of the experiments, a regression model was developed to predict the wear rate of composites and checked for its adequacy using significance tests, analyses of variance and confirmation tests. Worn surface of samples was investigated using field emission scanning electron microscope and reported with its mechanisms. Microstructure of cast samples revealed uniform dispersion of reinforcement throughout the matrix. Response surface plots revealed that wear rate of composites increases with increasing load up to 50 N with the velocity 1–5 m·s(-1) and a sliding distance up to 2,500 m. However wear rate decreasesd with increasing velocity at lower loads(up to 20 N) and increased after reaching transition velocity of 2 m·s(-1). Dry sliding wear process parameters were optimised for obtaining minimum wear rate and they were found to be a load of 18.46 N, velocity of 4.11 m·s(-1), sliding distance of 923 m. Objective:To investigate the in vitro antioxidant and antiproliferative activity of rhizome extracts of Rhodiola imbricata(***) in HT-29 human colon cancer cell ***:The successively extracted rhizome of *** using various solvents was analyzed for their total phenolics,tannins and flavonoid *** vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated by employing different assays,including DPPH,ABTS radical scavenging assays,FRAP, phosphomolybdenum reduction assay,superoxide anion,hydroxyl radical scavenging activities and metal chelating ***:Acetone and methanol extracts recorded higher phenolic content and showed comparable antioxidant activity with standard ***,they also inhibited the proliferation of HT-29 cells upon treatment at higher concentration(200μg/mL) (acetone and methanol,84%and 84%.respectively).On examination acetone extract exhibited antiproliferative activity in a concentration dependent manner whereas,methanol extract showed both dose dependent and lime dependent inhibitory ***:The results obtained justify the traditional usage of *** from their promising antioxidant activity.

Gel-polymer electrolytes with high thermal stability and mechanical properties were considered suitable in rechargeable batteries so as to overcome the problems encountered in liquid *** a previous study,flexible sodium-ion batteries(FSIBs)were fabri-cated using electrodes made of carbon quantum dots(CQDs)decorated with SnO_(2) and NaVO_(3) utilizing a polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)/P3HT gel-polymer electrolyte at a ratio of 1:*** addition,various separators such as indium-doped tin oxide/polyoxyethylene tridecyl ether(ITO/PTE),rice paper(RP),silicone with three big holes(SIL BH),silicone with many small holes(SIL SH)and cellulose paper(CP)were tested in flexible Na-ion *** SIL SH delivered a high specific discharge capacity of 4246 mAh g^(-1) in the initial cycle at 2 V and maintained a value of 71 mAh g^(-1) in the 50th *** the aim of improving the cyclic ability of FSIBs,different weight ratios of PVA/P3HT(1:0.025,1:0.05,1:0.1,1:0.15,1:0.2)were tried in this work using the electrodes CQDs@SnO_(2) and CQDs@NaVO_(3).The above ratios were referred to as B25,B50,B100,B150 and B200,*** SH was used as a *** voltammetry studies indicated that B150 had a high specific capacitance of 13062 F g^(-1).B25 and B100 exhibited high discharge capacities(171 mAh g^(-1))and(151 mAh g^(-1))compared to that of other ratios B50(75 mAh g^(-1)),B150(88 mAh g^(-1))and B200(54 mAh g^(-1))in the 50th cycle at 2.0 *** study reveals the scope of developing FSIBs of high capacity and cyclability at different voltages using carbonaceous electrodes and gel-polymer electrolytes with different ratios of PVA/*** focus of the present study is to bring out the optimum ratio of PVA/P3HT for maximizing the cyclic ability of FSIBs.
