Hand veins can be used effectively in biometric recognition since they are internal organs that,in contrast to fingerprints,are robust under external environment effects such as dirt and paper ***,they form a complex rich shape that is unique,even in identical twins,and allows a high degree of ***,most currently employed hand-based biometric systems rely on hand-touch devices to capture images with the desired *** the start of the COVID-19 pandemic,most handbased biometric systems have become undesirable due to their possible impact on the spread of the ***,new contactless hand-based biometric recognition systems and databases are desired to keep up with the rising hygiene *** contribution of this research is the creation of a database for hand dorsal veins images obtained contact-free with a variation in capturing distance and rotation *** database consists of 1548 images collected from 86 participants whose ages ranged from 19 to 84 *** the other research contribution,a novel geometrical feature extraction method has been developed based on the Curvelet *** method is useful for extracting robust rotation invariance features from vein *** database attributes and the veins recognition results are analyzed to demonstrate their efficacy.

Structural,thermal,and mechanical properties of pure blend and nanocomposites based on polyurethane(PU)and polyvinyl chloride(PVC) doped with low different content of single walled-carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)were *** nanocomposites at different concentration were prepared via casting *** interaction between PU/PVC and CNTs were examined via FT-IR *** changes in the structures of the nanocomposites were examined using X-Ray Diffraction(XRD),and the results indicated that the amorphous domains of nanocomposites increased with increasing SWCNTs *** electron microscope(TEm) observation indicated that SWCNTs surface was wrapped with the polymer with the thermal properties of nanocomposites *** mechanical behavior of the nanocomposites was evaluated as a function of SWCNTs *** main enhancement in tensile properties was observed,e.g.,the tensile strength and elastic modulus increased compared with the pure blend,which may be attributed to the interaction and adhesion between CNTs and the polymer matrices due to the hydrogen bonding between carbonyl groups(C=0) of polymer blend chains and carboxylic acid(COOH) groups of CNTs.

melting heat transfer in the boundary layer flow of a couple stress fluid over a stretching surface is investigated. The developed differential equations are solved for homotopic solutions. It is observed that the velocity and the boundary layer thickness are decreasing functions of the couple stress fluid parameter. However, the temperature and surface heat transfer increase when the values of the couple stress fluid parameter increase. The velocity and temperature fields increase with an increase in the melting process of the stretching sheet.

The influences of thermal annealing on the structural and optical features of radio frequency（rf） magnetron sputtered self-assembled Ge quantum dots（QDs） on Si（100） are *** oriented structures of Ge along the（220） and（111） directions together with peak shift and reduced strain（4.9%to 2.7%） due to post-annealing at 650 ℃ are discerned from x-ray differaction（XRD） *** force microscopy（AFm） images for both pre-annealed and post-annealed（650 ℃） samples reveal pyramidal-shaped QDs（density - 0.26×10^11 cm^-2） and dome-shape morphologies with relatively high density - 0.92×10^11 cm^-2,*** shape transformation is attributed to the mechanism of inter-diffusion of Si in Ge interfacial intermixing and strain *** annealing temperature assisted QDs structural evolution is explained using the theory of nucleation and growth kinetics where free energy minimization plays a pivotal *** observed red-shift - 0.05 eV in addition to the narrowing of the photoluminescence peaks results from thermal annealing,and is related to the effect of quantum ***,the appearance of a blue-violet emission peak is ascribed to the recombination of the localized electrons in the Ge-QDs/SiO2 or GeOx and holes in the ground state of Ge *** spectra of both samples exhibit an intense Ge-Ge optical phonon mode which shifts towards higher frequency compared with those of the bulk *** experimental Raman profile is fitted to the models of phonon confinement and size distribution combined with phonon confinement to estimate the mean dot sizes.A correlation between thermal annealing and modifications of the structural and optical behavior of Ge QDs is *** growth of Ge QDs with superior properties suitable for optoelectronic applications is demonstrated.

Objective QT dispersion （QTd）, defined as the maximal inter-lead difference in QT intervals on 12 leads of the surface electrocardiogram （ECG）, reflects the regional heterogeneity of ventricular repolarization and has been suggested as an important marker for risk of arrhythmia in addition to the QT interval. Some investigators proposed that it might be a predisposing factor for arrhythmic events and sudden death. Thus, we aimed to investigate whether QTd differs in patients with panic disorder from that in healthy controls. methods In 40 panic disorder patients and 40 healthy controls, Qmax, Qmin, and QTd values were measured. In addition, the Hamilton depression rating scale and the panic agoraphobia scale were scored for both patients and healthy volunteers. Results Qmax and Qmin values in the panic disorder patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls. The mean corrected QTd was significantly greater in the patients than in the controls. One-way analysis of covariance （ANCOVA; using left atrial size, age and heart rate as covariates） also corrected the significant difference. In addition, ANCOVA revealed a significant main effect for the diagnosis, indicating a significantly higher QTd for patients compared with controls. Conclusion QTd might be associated with panic disorder. Future studies in larger samples evaluating the effects of treatment are required.

Kaolin geopolymers were produced by the alkali-activation of kaolin with an activator solution （a mixture of NaOH and sodium silicate solutions）. The NaOH solution was prepared at a concentration of 6-14 mol/L and was mixed with the sodium silicate solution at a Na2SiO3/NaOH mass ratio of 0.24 to prepare an activator solution. The kaolin-to-activator solution mass ratio used was 0.80. This paper aimed to analyze the effect of NaOH concentration on the compressive strength of kaolin geopolymers at 80℃ for 1, 2, and 3 d. Kaolin geopolymers were stable in water, and strength results showed that the kaolin binder had adequate compressive strength with 12 mol/L of NaOH concentration. When the NaOH concentration increased, the SiO2/Na20 decreased. The increased Na20 content enhanced the dissolution of kaolin as shown in X-ray diffraction （XRD） and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） analyses. However, excess in this content was not beneficial for the strength development of kaolin geopolymers. In addition, there was the formation of more geopolymeric gel in 12 mol/L samples. The XRD pattern of the samples showed a higher amorphous content and a more geopolymer bonding existed as proved by FTIR analysis.

＂ Analysis is performed to study the slip effects on the peristaltic flow of non-Newtonian fluid in a curved channel with wall properties. The resulting nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed to a single ordinary differential equation in a stream function by using the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number. This differential equation is solved numerically by employing the built-in routine for solving nonlinear boundary value problems （BVPs） through the software mathematica. In addition, the analytic solutions for small Deborah number are computed with a regular perturbation technique. It is noticed that the symmetry of bolus is destroyed in a curved channel. An intensification in the slip effect results in a larger magnitude of axial velocity. Further, the size and circulation of the trapped boluses increase with an increase in the slip parameter. Different from the case of planar channel, the axial velocity profiles are tilted towards the lower part of the channel. A comparative study between analytic and numerical solutions shows excellent agreement.
