After brain or spinal cord injuries,patients experience severe paralysis but it is known that some recovery can occur through rehabilitative training,however,neuronal mechanism underlying the recovery is still not understood *** have been studying the neuronal mechanism of recovery after partial spinal cord injury using non-human primate models by combimng multidisciplinary *** is generally accepted that direct connection from the motor cortex to spinal motoneurons is first established in higher primates and the direct pathway has been supposed to be the basis of dexterous hand movements in these species including ***,in addition to the direct cortico-motoneuronal pathways,which predominantly developed in primates,there exists the indirect pathway mediated by propriospinal *** pathway plays a major role in mediating the cortical influences to motor neurons in carnivoras,but still remains in ***,we clarified that after lesion of the direct pathway,such indirect pathway can compensate for the dexterous hand movements,first by classical lesion experiments,and more recently by using a recently developed genetic technique of pathway-selective and reversible blockade of synaptic transmission with double viral vectors in macaque monkeys（Kinoshita et ***,2012）.Moreover,we showed that various cortical areas including ipsilateral Ml and ventral premotor cortex are causally involved in the functional recovery at different stages after lesion of the corticospinal tract by combining neuroimaging technique with positron emission tomography and local reversible inactivation with microinjection of muscimol（Nishimura et ***,2007）.Moreover,we found that ventral striatum（VSt） including the nucleus accumbens increases the activation during the recovery from the spinal cord injury in association with the motor cortex（Nishimura et *** one 2011）,and showed that the activity of VSt critically contributes to the recovery by local

Deriving some models to estimate the electrical demand for future for the Kingdom of Bahrain is carried out in the present study. The ambient temperature is taken into the account as well as the time factor (Year). The model was developed in away describing the electric power demand during a summer period. The estimated values of the maximum electrical load is obtained and evaluated on actual peak load data of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Explainable AI and Interpretable Model for Insurance Premium Prediction

Islamic Banks Impaired Financing： Relationship Between Shariah Committee Meetings Frequency and Shariah Risks Compliance on Assets Quality

This study made a pioneering attempt to econometrically examine what factors determining impaired financing using shariah committee meetings frequency from data on Islamic banks in Malaysia and how does it affects on the quality of assets. The objective of the study is to improve assessment of their assets quality so as to increase the reliability of the financial statements. The European Central Bank may find the findings from this study useful in their exercise to assess risks and assets quality of their commercial banks, a move to tackle the ailing banks in centralizing oversight supervision in late 2014. The major components of the Islamic banks＇ assets quality are impaired financing and provisions for financing impairment. In the Islamic banks, shariah committee principally manages the shariah risks non-compliance with other risks; however because their management is not straightforward, the study uses the shariah committee meetings frequency as an indicator of the assets quality. The study found the less-than-full frequency of shariah committee meetings resulted in less guidance and conformation of shariah principles, and consequentially the quality of the assets.

Modeling the Transmission Dynamics of the Monkeypox Virus Infection with Treatment and Vaccination Interventions

Presently, an ongoing outbreak of the monkeypox virus infection that began in Bayelsa State of Nigeria has now spread to other parts of the country including mostly States in the South-South with the Nigerian Ministry of Health confirming 4 samples out of the 43 sent for testing at WHo Regional Laboratory in Dakar, Senegal. This reminds us that apart from the eradicated smallpox, there are other poxviruses that pose potential threat to people in West and Central Africa. In this paper, we developed a mathematical model for the dynamics of the transmission of monkeypox virus infection with control strategies of combined vaccine and treatment interventions. Using standard approaches, we established two equilibria for the model namely: disease-free and endemic. The disease-free equilibrium was proved to be both locally and globally asymptotically stable if R0 < 1 using the next-generation matrix and the comparison theorem. While the endemic equilibrium point existed only when R0 > 1, was proved to be locally asymptotically stable if R0 > 1 using the linearization plus row-reduction method. The basic reproduction numbers for the humans and the non-human primates of the model are computed using parameter values to be R0,h = 9.1304 x 10-6 and R0,n = 3.375 x 10-3 respectively. Numerical simulations carried out on the model revealed that the infectious individuals in the human and non-human primates’ populations will die out in the course of the proposed interventions in this paper during the time of the study. Sensitivity analysis carried out on the model parameters shows that the basic reproduction numbers of the model which served as a threshold for measuring new infections in the host populations decrease with increase in the control parameters of vaccination and treatment.

Prediction of selected biodiesel fuel properties using artificial neural network

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel to replace fossil- based diesel fuel. It has fuel properties similar to diesel which are generally determined experimentally. The experimental determination of various properties of biodiesel is costly, time consuming and a tedious process. To solve these problems, artificial neural network （ANN） has been considered as a vital tool for estimating the fuel properties of biodiesel, especially from its fatty acid （FA） composition. In this study, four ANNs have been designed and trained to predict the cetane number （CN）, flash point （FP）, kinematic viscosity （KV） and density of biodiesel using ANN with logsig and purelin transfer functions in the hidden layer of all the networks. The five most prevalent FAs from 55 feedstocks found in the literature utilized as the input parameters for the model are palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenie acids except for density network with a sixth parameter （temperature）. other FAs that are present in the biodiesels have been considered based on the number of carbon atom chains and the level of saturation. From this study, the prediction accuracy and the average absolute deviation of the networks are CN （96.69%; 1.637%）, KV （95.80%; 1.638%）, FP （99.07%; 0.997%） and density （99.40%; 0.101%）. These values are reasonably better compared to previous studies on empirical correlations and ANN predictions of these fuel properties found in literature. Hence, the present study demonstrates the ability of ANN model to predict fuel properties of biodiesel with high accuracy.

Nutritional knowledge among Kuwaiti college students

objectives: To assess the level of nutritional knowledge (NK) among male Kuwaiti college students and to correlate NK scores with different nutritional domains. Methods: A random sample of 378 students was asked to answer a questionnaire regarding socio-demographic and health-related factors and answer questions assessing their NK on different domains. Height and weight were measured. Results: NK was low. NK on sodium and carbohydrates was the highest, where those of protein and cholesterol were the lowest. only older age, healthy dental status, and high academic achievement in high school were associated with high NK. NK scores of different nutritional domains were weekly correlated with each other. While the NK on cholesterol correlated with NK on all other domains. NK on calories/food intake correlated with less than half of the domains. Conclusion: NK was found to be low and interrelated. NK education should aim to improve NK especially in those groups with the lowest scores.

Annual Maximum Loads Estimation Modeling for Kingdom of Bahrain

The present paper proposes the impact of the air temperature on electricity demand as expected. The annual maximum load is recorded versus the years starting by the year 2009. At present, the graph fitting was applied with some mathematical and computational tools considering the lower values, the higher values and the average values of the annual maximum loads of Kingdom of Bahrain. For the three scenarios, the models are obtained by curve fitting technique. As well, the model of actual loads is obtained finally which has mostly the closest values obtained.

Breast cysts (galactocele) form in the mammary gland from ductal obstruction. Multiple pathologic entities may produce complex cystic breast lesions. Ultrasound is presently the first primary modality in breast evaluation after physical palpitation. We report a progressive case of multiple cysts in a 32-year-old woman, ranging from 28 mm to 20 mm. Though in-situ milk (sono-penic) appears sterile, the superficial presentation (externally) is that of a firm mass. Due to the known hazards of radioactive mammography, this case report proves the usefulness of sonar to image, map, measure, identify and diagnose breast pathology. In women with dense-heavy breast, ultrasound examination will play an important role in screening palpable and non-palpable masses.
