Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to explore the association between socio-demographic and health-related factors and metabolic syndrome (MetS) among male adolescents in Kuwait. Methods and Results: We used a cross sectional study with a sample of 303 male Kuwaiti adolescents of age 10 - 19 years, selected from intermediate and high schools. All had anthropometric measurements and biochemical tests. In addition, a questionnaire for the evaluation of the association of a variety of socio-demographic and health-related factors with MetS was given to participants for assessing these factors. The presence of the MetS was assessed in each subject using two validated criteria proposed by the National Cholesterol Education Program-Third Adult Treatment Panel Modified for age (NCEP-ATP III) and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). We established that the prevalence of MetS by the ATP III and IDF criteria was respectively 9.8% and 11.7%. The educational level of both parents and factors such as weight, diet and physical activity associated significantly with the presence of MetS in Kuwaiti adolescents. Conclusions: The IDF gave higher values for the prevalence of MetS than the ATP III. Using either criterion, this information obtained in this study is important in planning strategies for prevention and control of this disorder.

Defensive traditional architecture research is critical to the understanding of the ethnic history and multiethnic ***,there are few studies on the combination of traditional architecture and multiethnicity,and most of the defensive traditional buildings in multiethnic villages of Guangxi are facing the plight of being destroyed and *** aim of this research is to identify the spatial characteristics,commonalities,and differences of Guangxi’s defensive traditional architecture with Mozhuang Village and Guxietun Village as the examples,in order to preserve the architectural and ethnic components of these *** research uses the four research methods:literature review,field research,observation and space syntax analysis,and it summarizes the three results from the five aspects:plan,elevation,construction material,masonry and *** showed that the spatial characteristics are dominated by the ethnic group with the higher technological,cultural or economic level,and there are both commonalities and differences in defensive traditional architecture in multiethnic *** on the three study results,this research proposes some overall suggestions toward traditional villages and architecture improvement in ethnic areas.

研究目的:通过比较沉积物运移的不同标准,经选优得出更高精度的标准。创新要点:使用更少的参数和分情况来获得高精度的设计标准。研究方法:1.按状态将下水道中沉积物分成两类:没有沉淀的沉积物和沉淀的推移质;2.利用已有设计标准的方程,运用非线性回归和MINITAB软件,得到不同情况下的最佳方程式;3.用实验所得的值对各方程预测值进行验证,比较各方程式的预测精度。重要结论:1.本文提出的方程式可以预测不同情况下的沉积物运移;2.相比于其它标准,本文提出的方程式形式简单、所需参数少和参数估计简单,并且预测精度更高。

Lignocellulosic biomass especially,sugarcane bagasse Saccharum barberi sp.,appears to be a more suitable material for partial substi-tution of transport fuel(diesel)than Saccharum officinarum sp.,due to its structural similarity to transport fuel(diesel).Besides that,less research has been implemented on this type of ***-oil can be implemented as biodiesel by processing it further using chemical reactions such as hydrodeoxygenation and cracking with zeolite ***,the purpose of this study is to determine the compatibility of pyrolytic bio-oil produced from Saccharum barberi *** comparison with *** *** use as transport fuel(diesel)in automotive *** purpose can be accomplished by comparing the oil’s bio-physiochemical properties for both *** experiment is conducted on a bench-scale on which bio-oil of Saccharum barberi *** secured from the catalytic pyrolysis process at a temperature of 500°C and heating rate of 50°C/min with the addition of ZSM-Zeolite *** analysis of Saccharum barberi *** that cellulose is more reactive than lignin,evidenced by the high percentage of weight loss at tem-peratures ranging from 251°C to 390°*** high contents of carbon(40.7%)and hydrogen(6.50%),as well as slight traces of sulphur(0.08%)and nitrogen(0.85%),in bio-oil(Saccharum barberi sp.)indicate that it is conceivable to be partially used for replacement in biofuel *** physiochemical properties reveal that Saccharum barberi *** more potential than *** *** chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis reveals that bio-oil consists of high amounts of aromatic hydrocarbon(26.2%),phenol(14.8%)and furfural(13.0%)in comparison to *** sp.

For the long-term fortification of warehoused crops, the insecticidal impact of cold plasma treated wheat seeds against red flour beetles are *** this study, the gain weight loss,mortality and repellency tests of cold plasma treated seeds are investigated and statistical analysis is carried out by SPSS *** plasma treatment is carried out at 800 V for 1 and 4 *** results show that the minimum grain weight loss is observed in plasma treated seeds as compared to controlled *** is also observed that the mortality rate is minimum in the controlled seed while maximum at 4 min plasma ***, the repellent effect has a very small variation as compared to the controlled seed for Tribolium ***, plasma treatment can be considered as a practical and effective method for seed protection against red floor beetles particularly during long-term storage by controlling the insecticidal effects.

The highly accurate full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbital method is employed to calculate the structural,electronic and transport properties of HgIn_(2)S_(4) and ZnIn_(2)S_(4).For ZnIn_(2)S_(4),the calculated In–S bond length is in good agreement with the experimental *** moduli results suggest that ZnIn_(2)S_(4) can afford more compressional effects than HgIn_(2)S_(4).The present study confirms that both HgIn_(2)S_(4) and ZnIn_(2)S_(4) are indirect band gap materials with band gap values of 0.705 eV and 1.533 eV *** localized region existing in the most bottom valance band of both materials splits into states by 1 eV energy difference under the spin orbital coupling *** plots of charge density predict that chemical bonding in these compounds is a mixture of ionic and covalent *** mass results reveal that mobility of charge carriers in ZnIn_(2)S_(4) is greater than that in HgIn_(2)S_(4).

This paper considers the debate that has developed in studies of pros and cons of nationalism. Nationalism deals with identification of a nation, group, or country. It is believed or viewed within a multicultural state. Nationalism can be defined as national pride or patriotism. This is not a new idea, it has been for centuries, but the concept has changed, in general, nationalism is described more negative concepts as opposed to more positive ones. Nowadays nationalism is linked either directly or implicitly to racism. Nationalism plays a great role in world politics today. There is also another negative argument that can include the belief that one state is superior to all of the other states. This paper begins by defining the pros and cons of nation and nationalism. The topic of pros and cons of nationalism creates one of the most important issues in the world today, and the issue promises to continue to the next century. People should be acknowledged in order to develop and increase their awareness and understanding of nationalism. This study also examines the importance and unimportance of nationalism in a country. The paper uses quantitative method with survey questionnaire. The structured questionnaire has been used to collect data and asked teachers and students. The paper uses content analysis in this part within the framework of the qualitative method. The respondents have quite diverse backgrounds which is very important to have a wider perspective, The results of this study show that there have been diverse views regarding the term nationalism. It has been found out that the teachers and students have not been quite comfortable and positive regarding the nationalism,

A major educational debate today concerns how to recruit and prepare teachers all over the world. In other words policy makers in education attempt to figure out high quality initial teacher training programs. Similarly, one of the main controversial issues in Turkey is who is going to be a teacher. Alternative programs for recruiting and preparing teacher have been devised, discussed, and applied. However, these programs have been implemented not because of results of research comparing the effectiveness of teachers from different types of preparation backgrounds but the program has been implemented because of current government policies. Since Turkish education system is centralized, the Ministry of National Education appoints all novice teachers according to their scores in the nationwide state examination conducted by state for state employee. Teachers in Turkey are recruited from two sources： one is education faculty graduates to be teacher at elementary, middle and high schools. The other source is different faculty graduates such as faculty of literature, art, science, theology, and etc. to teacher, particularly, at high schools. The aim of this study is to review teacher training and recruitment in Turkey from 1923 to present. The method of this study is to analyze printed document and changing policies and reforms about training and recruiting teachers in Turkish schools. During the Republic Era teacher training policies and applications have been changed several times radically. In addition, the effectiveness of factors on teacher training policies in terms of year and theory is indicated.

This paper investigates the effect of non-uniform temperature gradient and magnetic field on Marangoni convection in a horizontal fluid layer heated from below and cooled from above with a constant heat flux. A linear stability analysis is performed. The influence of various parameters on the convection onset is analyzed. Six non-uniform basic temperature profiles are considered, and some general conclusions about their desta- bilizing effects are presented.

Non-Newtonian is a type of fluid that does not comply with the viscosity under the Law of Newton and is being widely used in industrial *** include those related to chemical industries,cosmetics manufacturing,pharmaceutical field,food processing,as well as oil and gas *** inability of the conventional equations of Navier–Stokes to accurately depict rheological behavior for certain fluids led to an emergence study for non-Newtonian fluids’*** line with this,a mathematical model of forced convective flow on non-Newtonian Eyring Powell fluid under temperature-dependent viscosity(TDV)circumstance is *** fluid model is embedded with the Newtonian heating(NH)boundary condition as a heating circumstance and is assumed to move over a stretching sheet acting *** appropriate similarity variables,the respective model was converted into ordinary differential equations(oDE),which was later solved utilizing the Keller box *** present model is validated by comparing the existing output in literature at certain special limiting cases,where the validation results display a firm *** current outputs for the proposed model are shown in tabular and graphical form for variation of skin friction plus Nusselt number,velocity and temperature distribution,respectively.
