Alterations in Growth and Yield of Camelina Induced by Different Planting Densities under Water Deficit Stress

Camelina(Camelina sativa L.)is famous for its oil quality and unique fatty acid *** and yield of crops reduced under water deficit *** threat such as drought or water deficit condition is the emerging problem which creates the negative impact on the growth of *** upon the current situation a pot study was performed in rain out-shelter to explore the effect of different plant densities(15,10 and 5 plants per pot)on growth and seed yield of two camelina genotypes under normal(100%WHC)and water deficit(60%WHC)conditions by using completely randomized design with factorial arrangement having three *** indicated that individual effects of plant densities and water deficit stress levels considerably influenced the growth and seed yield of camelina but interaction effects did not indicate any significant *** values of leaf area index(LAI)and crop growth rate(CGR)were recorded in P_(3) treatment(15 plants per pot).However,maximum values of leaf area duration(LAD),net assimilation rate(NAR),yield and yield components were observed in the treatment P_(1)(5 plants per pot).Water deficit condition(60%WHC)significantly minimized the growth,seed yield(0.82 g/m^(2))and yield components of camelina *** camelina genotypes(611 and 618)did not differ significantly under water deficit conditions.

Enhancing Drought Tolerance in Wheat through Improving Morpho- Physiological and Antioxidants Activities of Plants by the Supplementation of Foliar Silicon

The main objective of the research is to assess the role of foliar application of silicon(Si)for enhancing the survival ability of wheat under drought stress through improving its morphology,physicochemical and antioxidants *** were five doses of Si at the rate of 2,4,6 and 8 mM and a *** completion of seeds germination,pots were divided into four distinct groups at various field capacity(FC)levels,such as 100%FC(well-irrigated condition),75%FC(slight water deficit),50%FC(modest water deficit)and 25%FC(severe water deficit stress condition).Foliar application of Si at the rate of 2,4,6 and 8 mM and a control were given after 30 days of sowing at the tillering stage of *** of the present investigation indicated that increasing the level of water deficit stress reduced the morphological parameters(such as root and shoot fresh and dry-biomass weight)and physico-biochemical events((such as chlorophyll contents by estimating SPAD value),total free amino acid(TFAA),total soluble sugar(TSS),total soluble protein(TSP),total proline(TP),CAT(catalase),POD(peroxidase),SOD(superoxide dismutase)and APX(ascorbate peroxidase))of wheat;while foliar application of Si at 6 mM at tillering stage enhanced the drought tolerance in wheat by increasing morphology and physiochemical characters under all levels of drought ***,antioxidants activities in wheat also enhanced by the application of Si at 6 mM under normal as well as all drought stress ***-fore,it may be concluded that foliar application of Si at 6 mM at the tillering stage of wheat is an important indication for increasing the drought tolerance by improving the morphology,physico-biochemical and antioxidants activities in plants under deficit water(drought)conditions.

Phosphorus(P)is a critical nutrient that plays an essential role in improving soil fertility for optimum plant growth and *** is one of the most deficient macro-nutrients in agricultural soils after nitrogen and is considered inadequate for plant growth and *** P availability in soils,the farmers are applying huge amounts of synthetic P fertilizers that adversely affect the wider environment,groundwater,soil fertility and microbial *** beneficial microbes are known to release and supply soluble P for improving growth and yield of a variety of plants in a sustainable manner in P deficient ***,inoculation of these microbes,including arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)and phosphate solubilizing bacteria(PSB)to soil to enhance crop production without harming the environment,is an alternative approach to chemical *** combined role of AMF and PSB in P solubilization is not well understood and the application and mode of action of these microbial groups are often naive due to variation in the ***,the current review article would develop a better understanding of the interactive role and mechanisms of AMF and PSB in improving P availability from both organic and inorganic sources in a sustainable crop production ***,the current review would loop out further avenues for researchers interested to commercially produce effective AMF and PSB-based biofertilizers for sustainable management of phosphorus over a wide range of agricultural crops worldwide.

Application of Chebyshev theorem to data preparation in landslide susceptibility mapping studies:an example from Yenice(Karabük,Turkey)region

Landslide database construction is one of the most crucial stages of the landslide susceptibility mapping studies. Although there are many techniques for preparing landslide database in the literature, representative data selection from huge data sets is a challenging, and, to some extent, a subjective task. Thus, in order to produce reliable landslide susceptibility maps, data-driven, objective and representative database construction is a very important stage for these maps. This study mainly focuses on a landslide database construction task. In this study, it was aimed at building a representative landslide database extraction approach by using Chebyshev theorem to evaluate landslide susceptibility in a landslide prone area in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey. The study area was divided into two different parts such as training （Basin 1） and testing areas （Basin 2）. A total of nine parameters such as topographical elevation, slope, aspect, planar and profile curvatures, stream power index, distance to drainage, normalized difference vegetation index and topographical wetness index were used in the study. Next, frequency distributions of the considered parameters in both landslide and nonlandslide areas were extracted using different sampling strategies, and a total of nine different landslide databases were obtained. Of these, eight databases were gathered by the methodology proposed by this study based on different standard deviations and algebraic multiplication of raster parameter maps. To evaluate landslide susceptibility, Artificial Neural Network method was used in the study area considering the different landslide and nonlandslide data. Finally, to assess the performances of the so-produced landslide susceptibility maps based on nine data sets, Area Under Curve （AUC） approach was implemented both in Basin 1 and Basin 2. Numerical Investigation on Characteristics of Supercritical CO_(2)Heat Transfer in Vertical Circular Tubes with Circumferentially Half-Side Heating

The design of heat exchangers in the advanced supercritical power conversion system cannot be separated from the study of heat transfer ***-side heating mode is often encountered for solar receiver and supercritical ***,the characteristics of supercritical CO_(2)(sCO_(2))convection heat transfer in vertical tubes with circumferentially half-side heating was numerically investigated through the SST k-ωturbulent model which matches well with the experimental ***,heat transfer between sCO_(2)upflow and downflow was *** to film boiling heat transfer at subcritical pressure,numerical results were processed according to the supercritical pseudo-phase transition hypothesis,with liquid-like phase in the tube core region and vapor-like film in the region near the heated tube *** structure of two layers was demarcated by pseudo-critical temperature T_(pc).Therefore,sCO_(2)heat transfer was assessed according to double thermal resistances caused by vapor-like film near the wall and core liquid-like *** findings suggest that wall temperature for upflow is higher than that for downflow,which is attributed to larger thermal resistance in the fluid domain for upflow than that for *** difference guarantees the excellent heat transfer performance for downflow than *** is also further concluded that the formation of vapor-like film near the wall due to pseudo-phase transition plays a key role in dominating wall temperature and inducing heat transfer deterioration in half-side heating *** present contribution is significant to the design of supercritical heat exchanger under half-side heating mode.

Incorporating travel time reliability in predicting the likelihood of severe crashes on arterial highways using non-parametric random-effect regression

Travel time reliability(TTR) modeling has gain attention among researchers’ due to its ability to represent road user satisfaction as well as providing a predictability of a trip travel *** this significant effort,its impact on the severity of a crash is not well *** study analyzes the effect of TTR and other variables on the probability of the crash severity occurring on arterial *** address the unobserved heterogeneity problem,two random-effect regressions were applied;the Dirichlet random-effect(DRE)and the traditional random-effect(TRE) logistic *** difference between the two models is that the random-effect in the DRE is non-parametrically specified while in the TRE model is parametrically *** Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulations were adopted to infer the parameters’ posterior distributions of the two developed *** four-year police-reported crash data and travel speeds from Northeast Florida,the analysis of goodness-of-fit found the DRE model to best fit the ***,it was used in studying the influence of TTR and other variables on crash *** DRE model findings suggest that TTR is statistically significant,at 95 percent credible intervals,influencing the severity level of a crash.A unit increases in TTR reduces the likelihood of a severe crash occurrence by 25 ***,among the significant variables,alcohol/drug impairment was found to have the highest impact in influencing the occurrence of severe *** significant factors included traffic volume,weekends,speed,work-zone,land use,visibility,seatbelt usage,segment length,undivided/divided highway,and age.

Disclination and molecular director studies on bowlic columnar nematic phase using mosaic-like morphologydecoration method

Two bowlic cyclotriveratrylene CTV-1 and CTV-2, with different peripheral groups of -OCH3 and -OCH2CH3 for CTV-1 and -OCH3 and -OCH2COOCH3 for CTV-2, respectively, were synthesized by typical trimerization via a multistep sequence from vanillin. Both bowlic CTV molecules were thermotropic liquid crystals, and presented typical grainy textures of the nematic phase and homogeneous texture of the single domain nematic phase. It is of interest to observe the regular and beautiful mosaic-like morphologies after cooling from liquid crystalline phases, which appeared and vanished repeatedly in several circles of cooling and heating. The size of each mosaic was several dozens of micron. In nature, the mosaic-like morphologies are the optical pattern of cracks formed by the shrinking, due to the crystallization of frozen texture of nematic phases. By means of scanning electron microscopy, the mosaic-like morphologies were observed to consist of lamellae, and each mosaic is a rectangular multi-layer lamella, which is composed of packed single-layered lamellae. The fibrils in the diameter of about 1 μm were observed, which are the structural units of lamellae and would be the bundles of the bowlic molecular columns. The mosaic-like morphologies decorate the bowlic molecular columnar nematic phase, therefore, a novel mosaic-like morphologies decoration method was applied to reveal the director distribution of several kinds of point disclinations, such as s = +1(δ =0°and δ =90°) and s = ±1/2, and Nèel domain walls. It was shown that the bowlic molecular columnar nematic phase behaved as normal nematic phases; however, the basic structural units ordered were the bowlic molecular column or the bundles of bowlic molecular column (i.e. fibrils), but not the bowlic molecules themselves. The bowlic molecular columns acted as the rod-like molecules in a normal nematic phase. Labial Fusion Causing Coital and Voiding Difficulty in a Young Woman

Adhesions of the labia are extremely rare in the reproductive population with only a few cases described in the literature. We report a young female patient with coital and voiding difficulty. The patient was a 22-year-old woman presented with voiding difficulty and inability to achieve sexual intercourse. Clinical examination revealed normally developed labia majora, clitoris, and vaginal opening, but fused labia minora and pinhole external urethral orifice. Intraoperatively, labial fusion was dissected with sharp dissection. Urethral dilatation was performed with dittel dilators. Local estrogen ointment was administered postoperatively for four weeks resulting with complete resolution of coital and voiding symptoms.
