Perception of dental appearance and aesthetic analysis among patients,laypersons and dentists

BACKGROUND Current concepts of beauty are increasingly subjective,influenced by the viewpoints of *** aim of the study was to evaluate divergences in the perception of dental appearance and smile esthetics among patients,laypersons and dental *** study goals were to evaluate the influence of age,sex,education and dental specialty on the participants’judgment and to identify the values of different esthetic *** sample included 50 patients who responded to a dental appearance questionnaire(DAQ).Two frontal photographs were taken,one during a smile and one with retracted *** and dentists were asked to evaluate both photographs using a Linear Scale from(0-10),where 0 represent(absolutely unaesthetic)and 10 represent(absolutely aesthetic).One-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)and t-test analysis were measured for each *** patients in the sample expressed satisfaction with most aspects of their smiles and dental *** laypersons(including 488 participants),47 pictures“with lips”out of 50 had higher mean aesthetic scores compared to pictures“without lips”.Among the dentist sample,90 dentists’perception towards the esthetic smile and dental appearance for photos“with lips”and“without lips”were the same for 23 out of 50 *** of smile aesthetics differed between patients,laypersons and *** factors can contribute to shape the perception of smile *** To compare the perception of dental aesthetic among patients,laypersons,and professional dentists,to evaluate the impact of age,sex,educational background,and income on the judgments made by laypersons,to assess the variations in experience,specialty,age,and sex on professional dentists’judgment,and to evaluate the role of lips,skin shade and tooth shade in different participants’*** Patients sample included 50 patients who responded to *** frontal photographs were taken:one during a smile and one with retracted lip

Multi-Layer Fog-Cloud Architecture for Optimizing the Placement of IoT Applications in Smart Cities

In the smart city paradigm, the deployment of Internet of Things(IoT) services and solutions requires extensive communication and computingresources to place and process IoT applications in real time, which consumesa lot of energy and increases operational costs. Usually, IoT applications areplaced in the cloud to provide high-quality services and scalable ***, the existing cloud-based approach should consider the above constraintsto efficiently place and process IoT applications. In this paper, anefficient optimization approach for placing IoT applications in a multi-layerfog-cloud environment is proposed using a mathematical model (Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP)). This approach takes into accountIoT application requirements, available resource capacities, and geographicallocations of servers, which would help optimize IoT application placementdecisions, considering multiple objectives such as data transmission, powerconsumption, and cost. Simulation experiments were conducted with variousIoT applications (e.g., augmented reality, infotainment, healthcare, andcompute-intensive) to simulate realistic scenarios. The results showed thatthe proposed approach outperformed the existing cloud-based approach interms of reducing data transmission by 64% and the associated processingand networking power consumption costs by up to 78%. Finally, a heuristicapproach was developed to validate and imitate the presented approach. Itshowed comparable outcomes to the proposed model, with the gap betweenthem reach to a maximum of 5.4% of the total power consumption.

A Hybrid Approach for Performance and Energy-Based Cost Prediction in Clouds

With the striking rise in penetration of Cloud Computing,energy consumption is considered as one of the key cost factors that need to be managed within cloud providers’***,recent approaches and strategies based on reactive and proactive methods have been developed for managing cloud computing resources,where the energy consumption and the operational costs are ***,to make better cost decisions in these strategies,the performance and energy awareness should be supported at both Physical Machine(PM)and Virtual Machine(VM)***,in this paper,a novel hybrid approach is proposed,which jointly considered the prediction of performance variation,energy consumption and cost of heterogeneous *** approach aims to integrate auto-scaling with live migration as well as maintain the expected level of service performance,in which the power consumption and resource usage are utilized for estimating the VMs’total ***,the service performance variation is handled by detecting the underloaded and overloaded PMs;thereby,the decision(s)is made in a cost-effective *** testbed evaluation demonstrates that the proposed approach not only predicts the VMs workload and consumption of power but also estimates the overall cost of live migration and auto-scaling during service operation,with a high prediction accuracy on the basis of historical workload patterns.

A Review of Dynamic Resource Management in Cloud Computing Environments

In a cloud environment, Virtual Machines (VMs) consolidation andresource provisioning are used to address the issues of workload *** consolidation aims to move the VMs from one host to another in order toreduce the number of active hosts and save power. Whereas resource provisioningattempts to provide additional resource capacity to the VMs as needed in order tomeet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. However, these techniques have aset of limitations in terms of the additional costs related to migration and scalingtime, and energy overhead that need further consideration. Therefore, this paperpresents a comprehensive literature review on the subject of dynamic resourcemanagement (i.e., VMs consolidation and resource provisioning) in cloud computing environments, along with an overall discussion of the closely relatedworks. The outcomes of this research can be used to enhance the developmentof predictive resource management techniques, by considering the awareness ofperformance variation, energy consumption and cost to efficiently manage thecloud resources.

Secured Framework for Assessment of Chronic Kidney Disease in Diabetic Patients

With the emergence of cloud technologies,the services of healthcare systems have ***,machine learning systems have become important tools for developing matured and decision-making computer *** cloud computing and machine learning technologies have contributed significantly to the success of healthcare ***,in some areas,these technologies are needed to provide and decide the next course of action for patients suffering from diabetic kidney disease(DKD)while ensuring privacy preservation of the medical *** address the cloud data privacy problem,we proposed a DKD prediction module in a framework using cloud computing services and a data control *** framework can provide improved and early treatment before end-stage renal *** prediction purposes,we implemented the following machine learning algorithms:support vector machine(SVM),random forest(RF),decision tree(DT),naïve Bayes(NB),deep learning(DL),and k nearest neighbor(KNN).These classification techniques combined with the cloud computing services significantly improved the decision making in the progress of DKD *** applied these classifiers to the UCI Machine Learning Repository for chronic kidney disease using various clinical features,which are categorized as single,combination of selected features,and all *** single clinical feature experiments,machine learning classifiers SVM,RF,and KNN outperformed the remaining classification techniques,whereas in combined clinical feature experiments,the maximum accuracy was achieved for the combination of DL and *** the feature experiments presented increased accuracy and increased F-measure metrics from SVM,DL,and RF.

Temperature-dependent Raman scattering and photoluminescence in YBa2Cu3O7 doped with SiO2 and Zn0.95Mn0.05O nanoparticles:comparative study

A combined study examining the temperature dependencies of Raman scattering and photoluminescence(PL)of a YBa2 Cu3 O7(YBCO)matrix doped with SiO2(12 nm;0.01 wt%.,0.10 wt%)and Zn0.95Mn0.05O(20 nm;0.02 wt%,0.10 wt%)nanoparticles was presented.X-ray diffraction(XRD)analysis confirms that both YBCO types exhibit aperovskite structure with the orthorhombic Pmmm *** microstructure was examined using environmental scanning electron microscopy(ESEM).Raman scattering and photoluminescence measurements as functions of temperature were conducted in the 77-837 K *** photoluminescence intensity is observed to decrease for the doped YBCO than for the pure YBCO,because of localized *** photoluminescence spectrum is primarily composed of three bands at 1.60,1.88,and 2.40 eV.A clearly pronounced correlation is observed between electronic and structural changes in the doped YBCO,which is due to the temperature,illumination,added oxygen or metal ions,and spectral *** PL integrated intensity as a function of the inverse temperature was simulated using the Arrhenius *** analysis reveals that the energy exchange between the different levels in the pure and doped YBCO was conducted via two vibration modes only,which are strongly linked to the oxygen and copper atoms in the YBCO *** temperature dependencies of the modes at 340 and 500 cm-1 exhibit softening with temperature increase,resulting from microstructure control,which may be due to small concentrations of Si,Zn,and Mn substitutions at the chain Cu(1)and plane Cu(2)sites.

Recently,the number of Internet of Things(IoT)devices connected to the Internet has increased dramatically as well as the data produced by these *** would require offloading IoT tasks to release heavy computation and storage to the resource-rich nodes such as Edge Computing and Cloud ***,different service architecture and offloading strategies have a different impact on the service time performance of IoT ***,this paper presents an Edge-Cloud system architecture that supports scheduling offloading tasks of IoT applications in order to minimize the enormous amount of transmitting data in the ***,it introduces the offloading latency models to investigate the delay of different offloading scenarios/schemes and explores the effect of computational and communication demand on each one.A series of experiments conducted on an EdgeCloudSim show that different offloading decisions within the Edge-Cloud system can lead to various service times due to the computational resources and communications ***,this paper presents a comprehensive review of the current state-of-the-art research on task offloading issues in the Edge-Cloud environment.

Exploring and Modelling IoT Offloading Policies in Edge Cloud Environments

The Internet of Things(IoT)has recently become a popular technology that can play increasingly important roles in every aspect of our daily *** collaboration between IoT devices and edge cloud servers,edge server nodes provide the computation and storage capabilities for IoT devices through the task offloading process for accelerating tasks with large resource ***,the quantitative impact of different offloading architectures and policies on IoT applications’performance remains far from clear,especially with a dynamic and unpredictable range of connected physical and virtual *** this end,this work models the performance impact by exploiting a potential latency that exhibits within the environment of edge ***,it investigates and compares the effects of loosely-coupled(LC)and orchestrator-enabled(OE)*** LC scheme can smoothly address task redistribution with less time consumption for the offloading sceneries with small scale and small task ***,the OE scheme not only outperforms the LC scheme in the large-scale tasks requests and offloading occurs but also reduces the overall time by 28.19%.Finally,to achieve optimized solutions for optimal offloading placement with different constraints,orchestration is important.
