Geomorphic indices and relative tectonic uplift in the Guerrero sector of the Mexican forearc

Tectonically active areas,such as forearc regions,commonly show contrasting relief,differential tectonic uplift,variations in erosion rates,in river incision,and in channel gradient produced by ongoing tectonic ***,information on the tectonic activity of a defined area could be derived via landscape *** study uses topography and geomorphic indices to extract signals of ongoing tectonic deformation along the Mexican subduction forearc within the Guerrero *** this purpose,we use field data,topographical data,knickpoints,the ratio of volume to area（Rva）.the stream-length gradient index（St）,and the normalized channel steepness index（k_（sn））.The results of the applied landscape analysis reveal considerable variations in relief,topography and geomorphic indices values along the Guerrero sector of the Mexican subduction *** argue that the reported differences are indicative of tectonic deformation and of variations in relative tectonic uplift along the studied forearc.A significant drop from central and eastern parts of the study area towards the west in values of R_（VA）（from ~500 to^300）,St（from ~500 to ca.400）,maximum St（from ~1500-2500 to ~ 1000） and k_（sn）（from ~150 to ~100） denotes a decrease in relative tectonic uplift in the same *** suggest that applied geomorphic indices values and forearc topography are independent of climate and *** mechanisms responsible for the observed variations and inferred changes in relative forearc tectonic uplift call for further studies that explain the physical processes that control the forearc along strike uplift variations and that determine the rates of *** proposed methodology and results obtained through this study could prove useful to scientists who study the geomorphology of forearc regions and active subduction zones.

Optimized combinations of statins and azoles against Acanthamoeba trophozoites and cysts in vitro

Objective: To evaluate the combination of several statins(atorvastatin, fluvastatin and simvastatin) and azoles(voriconazole, posaconazole and itraconazole) against Acanthamoeba spp. Methods: The efficiency of the different drug combinations against the trophozoite stage of different Acanthamoeba strains were evaluated by Alamar Blue assay. Effect on the cyst stage was observed by inverted microscope. Cytotoxicity of combinations of azoles and statins was evaluated by measuring the release of lactate dehydrogenase from a murine macrophage cell line. Results: Combinations of any of the tested statins and voriconazole or posaconazole were more efficient in inhibiting Acanthamoeba compared to statins or azoles individually. The drug combinations at the combined inhibitory concentrations 50% showed lower toxicity compared to that of the compounds ***: The combinations of statins together with voriconazole and posaconazole are more efficient than these drugs alone, and these combinations have lower cytotoxicity in mammalian cell lines.

Direct Determination of Polychlorinated-Biphenyls in Automotive Shredder Residues by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

An easy and rapid method is proposed for the determination of PCBs in automotive shredder residues, using gas chromatography combined with low resolution mass spectrometry (GC-MS). It is based on direct n-hexane solid-liquid extraction, subtracting background of the lineal aliphatic hydrocarbon interferences and integration of chromatographic peaks containing selected ion PCBs masses (256, 292 and 326 m/z), which are common in all PCBs formulations. Recoveries were in the 80% - 120% range;PCBs were detected and quantified in shredder samples from an automotive shredder industry, thus indicating the validity of the method.

钙钛矿结构荧光材料MZrO_3:Eu^(3+),A(M=Ca^(2+), Ba^(2+);A=Li^+, Na^+, k^+)的制备及其发光性质(英文)

Calcium and barium zirconate powders based upon CaZrO 3:Eu3+ , A and BaZrO 3:Eu3+, A(A=Li+, Na+, k+) were prepared by combustion synthesis method and heating to ~1000 °C to improve crystallinity. The structure and morphology of materials were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD results showed that CaZrO 3:Eu3+, A and BaZrO 3:Eu3+, A (A=Li+, Na+, k+) perovskites possessed orthorhombic and cubic structures, respectively. The morphologies of all powders were very similar consisting of small, coagulated, cubical particles with narrow size distributions and smooth and regular surfaces. The characteristic luminescences of Eu 3 + ions in CaZrO 3 :Eu3+ , A (A=Li+, Na+, k+) lattices were present with strong emissions at 614 and 625 nm for 5D0 →7F2 transitions with other weaker emissions observed at 575, 592, 655, and 701 nm corresponding to 5D0 → 7Fn transitions (where n=0,1,3,4, respectively). In BaZrO3:Eu3 + both the 5D0 → 7F1and5D0 → 7F2 transitions at 595 and 613 nm were strong. Photoluminescence intensities of CaZrO3:Eu3+samples were higher than those of BaZrO 3:Eu3+lattices. This remarkable increase of photoluminescence intensity (corresponding to 5D0→7Fn transitions) was observed in CaZrO3:Eu3+and BaZrO3:Eu3+ if co-doped with Li + ions. An additional broad band composed of many peaks between 440 to 575 nm was observed in BaZrO3:Eu3+, A samples. The intensity of this band was greatest in Li + co-doped samples and lowest for k + doped samples.

Concurrent removal of intravitreal lens fragments after phacoemulsification with pars plana vitrectomy prevents development of retinal detachment

AIM: To evaluate the outcomes of "concurrent vitrectomy" to retrieve dislocated lens fragment during ***: In a retrospective, observational case series, data of patients who underwent "concurrent" pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) for dislocated lens fragments between the period 2000 and 2008 were reviewed. Data collected included patient demographics, pre-operative visual acuity, intra-operative occurrence of retinal breaks, duration of follow up, post-operative intraocular pressure, final best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),presence of cystoid macular edema(CME) and occurrence of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD).· RESULTS: A total of 58 eyes of 58 patients were included in the study. At 12 mo the mean postoperative BCVA was log mar 0.17(20/30) with a range of log mar0 to 0.69(20/20 to 20/100), with 96.6%(56/58) of patients showing post- operative improvement in visual acuity(P =0.005). None of the patients developed postoperative retinal detachment, endophthalmitis or non-resolving uveitis at 12 ***: Our study results suggest concurrent PPV for retained lens fragments after cataract surgery is beneficial and may decrease the risk of glaucoma and prevent development of RRD.

Juicy Stories on Female Reproductive Tissue Development: Coordinating the Hormone Flows

In the past 20-30 years, developmental biologists have made tremendous progress in identifying genes required for the specifica-tion of individual cell types of an organ and in describing how they interact in genetic networks. In comparison, very little is known about the mechanisms that regulate tissue polarity and overall organ patterning. Gynoecia and fruits from members of the Brassicaceae family of flowering plants provide excellent model systems to study organ patterning and tissue specification because they become partitioned into distinct domains whose formation is determined by polarity establishment both at a cellular and whole tissue level. Interactions among key regulators of Arabidopsis gynoecium and fruit development have revealed a network of upstream transcription factor activities required for such tissue differentiation. Regulation of the plant hormone auxin is emerging as both an immediate downstream output and input of these activities, and here we aim to provide an overview of the current knowledge regarding the link between auxin and female reproductive development in plants. In this review, we will also demonstrate how available data can be exploited in a mathematical modeling approach to reveal and understand the feedback regulatory circuits that underpin the polarity establishment, necessary to guide auxin flows.

A Variational Approach to Norm Attainment of Some Operators and Polynomials

If X is an Asplund space, then every uniformly continuous function on Bx＊ which is holomorphic on the open unit ball, can be perturbed by a w＊ continuous and homogeneous polynomial on X＊ to obtain a norm attaining function on the dual unit ball. This is a consequence of a version of Bourgain-Stegall＇s variational principle. We also show that the set of N-homogeneous polynomials between two Banach spaces X and Y whose transposes attain their norms is dense in the corresponding space of N-homogeneous polynomials. In the case when Y is the space of Radon measures on a compact k, this result can be strengthened.

Suitability and assessment of the dams water for the purpose of agricultural irrigation

This study was carried out to evaluate the water quality of selected dam lakes as well as their suitability for agricultural *** dams were selected for water sampling and samples were collected monthly,including during the irrigation season for a period of one year from march to September *** samples were analyzed for temperature,pH,physicochemical parameters such as temperature,pH value,salinity(EC),anions(CO_(3),HCO_(3),CI,SO_(4),P,NO_(3)),cations(Na,k,Ca,Mg,B,NH_(4))and heavy *** irrigation suitability assessment was made using various indices such as SAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDS(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RSC(residual sodium bicarbonate),mar(magnesium adsorption rate),kR(kelly ratio),and PI(permeability index).The temperature values of the water samples varied between 5.8℃-25.1℃,pH and EC values changed between 7.51 and 8.46,282,and 1400μS/cm *** water samples were evaluated as C_(2)S_(1) and C_(3)S_(1) irrigation water *** heavy metal contents of the water samples were determined below the limit *** dams were found suitable for irrigation in terms of EC(salinity),SAR(sodium adsorption rate),TDS(total dissolved solids),Na%(sodium percentage),RSC(residual sodium bicarbonate),mar(magnesium adsorption rate),and kR(kelly ratio).Water samples were determined as the second class of PI(permeability index).Güllübağdam was not found suitable as irrigation water in terms of EC,Na%,RSC,and kR *** a result,it specifically points to the restrictions on the use of water from the Güllübağdam for irrigation purposes.

Platelet rich plasma(PRP)induces autophagy in osteoblast precursor 3T3-L1

Autophagy is an essential cellular homeostatic mechanism by which intracellular components are delivered into the lysosomes for degradation and *** has been related with a diversity of pathological or physiological dentary processes such as bone remodeling,skeletal aging,osteoclastogenesis,osteoblastogenesis and different types of oral ***-rich plasma(PRP),isolated from autologous blood,is a plasma preparation containing a higher concentration of platelets which contains numerous different growth factors and cytokines that activate several cellular signaling *** purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PRP on autophagy stimulation in both osteoblast precursor 3T3-L1 and non-related osteoblastic *** results showed that PRP can increase the number of autophagic structures in 3T3-L1 and HeLa(cervical cancer cells)***,we have determined by Western blot a rise in the lipidated form of the autophagic protein LC3(***3-II)upon PRP *** together,our results suggest that PRP is able to induce a strongly autophagy response in osteoblast precursor and,to a lesser extent,in non-related osteoblastic cells,suggesting that PRP could be a potential therapeutic tool for some autophagy-related diseases associated with bone homeostasis.
