Zinc partitioning in basmati rice varieties as influenced by Zn fertilization

Zinc(Zn) ferti-fortification using different sources and methods in Zn deficient soils is being advocated to increase Zn concentration in rice kernel as an alternative to pursuing greater Zn-use efficiency(ZnUE). A two-year field study was conducted to assess the effect of Zn application on Zn content and uptake at several growth stages and in several parts of the rice kernel: hull, bran, and the white rice kernel. Variety ‘PB 1509' with 1.25 kg Zn ha^(-1) as Zn-EDTA + 0.5% foliar spray(FS) at maximum tillering(MT) and panicle initiation(PI) stages registered the highest Zn content in hull, bran, and white rice kernel. Among parts of the rice kernel, Zn concentration decreased in the order hull > bran > white rice kernel,indicating that brown rice kernels are much denser in Zn content than polished *** the higher Zn accumulation in the bran, brown rice consumption, especially in Asia and Africa, could be recommended to overcome Zn malnutrition. The variety ‘PB 1401'showed the highest Zn uptake in rice straw, while ‘PB 1509' showed the highest Zn uptake in hull and white rice kernel. Application of 1.25 kg Zn ha^(-1)(Zn-EDTA) + 0.5% FS at MT and PI and 2.5 kg Zn ha^(-1) ZnSO_4·7H_2O(ZnSHH) + 0.5% FS at MT and PI resulted in higher Zn uptake than other treatments. On average, about one third of total Zn uptake remained in the white rice kernel, with the remaining two thirds accumulating in both hull and bran of brown rice. Zn-EDTA along with 0.5% FS, despite the application of a lower quantity of Zn leading to the highest Zn mobilization efficiency index(ZnMEI) and Zn-induced nitrogen recovery efficiency(ZniNRE), produced the highest kernel yield. However, of the two Zn sources, Zn-EDTA contributed more to the increase in ZnUE than did ZnSHH.

Monosodium urate(MSU)crystals activate inflammatory pathways that overlap with interleukin-1β(IL-1β)***,the post-translational mechanisms involved and the role of signaling proteins in this activation are *** the present study,we investigated the intracellular signaling mechanisms involved in MSU-induced activation of THP-1 macrophages and human nondiseased synovial fibroblasts(NLSFs)and the in vivo efficacy of an inhibitor of tumor grovArth factor-β(TGF-β)-activated kinase 1(TAK1),5Z-7-oxozeaenoI,in MSU-induced paw inflammation in C57BL76 ***-1 macrophage activation with MSU crystals(25-200 ng/ml)resulted in the rapid and sustained phosphorylation of interleukin-1 receptor-activated kinase 1(IRAK1 Thr^(209))and TAK1(Thr^(184/187))and their association with the E3 ubiquitin ligase *** the cellular level,MSU inhibited the deubiquitinases A20 and UCHL2 and increased 20s proteasomal activity,leading to a global decrease in K^(63)-linked ubiquitination and increase in K^(48)-linked ubiquitination in THP-1 *** MSU did not stimulate cytokine produaion in NLSFs,it significantly amplified IL-1β-induced IL-6,IL-8,and ENA-78/CXCL5 *** studies and MD simulations followed by TAK1 in vitro kinase assays revealed that uric acid molecules are capable of arresting TAK1 in an active-state conformation,resulting in sustained TAK1 kinase ***,MSU-induced proinflammatory cytokine production was completely inhibited by 5Z-7-oxozeaenol but not IRAK1/4 or TRAF6 *** of 5Z-7-oxozeaenol(5 or 15 mg/kg;orally)significantly inhibited MSU-induced paw inflammation in C57BL/6 *** study identifies a novel post-translational mechanism of TAK1 activation by MSU and suggests the therapeutic potential of TAK1 in regulating MSU-induced Inflammation.

Rapid screening and distribution of bioactive compounds in different parts of Berberis petiolaris using direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry

Berberis petiolaris Wall. ex G. Don, an unexplored medicinal plant belonging to the family Berberidaceae, is a large deciduous shrub found in Western Himalaya between 1800-3000 m. Chemical profiling of fruit, leaf, root and stem was done by direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry followed by multivariate analysis for discrimination among the plant parts. The bioactive compounds, including magnofiorine, berberine, jatrorrhizine, thalifendine/berberrubine, demethyleneberberine, reticuline, 8-oxoberberine, N-methyltetrahydroberberine, tetrahydropalmatine, tetrahydroberberine and palmatine, were identified by their exact mass measurement and the corresponding molecular formula of each compound. A comparative study of distribution pattern for all these bioactive alkaloids showed qualitative and quantitative variations in different parts of B. petiolaris. Principal component analysis clearly dis- criminated each part of B. petiolaris plant.

Catheter is commonly used by the surgeons for various reasons in the treatment of a patient suffering with cardiovascular diseases. Catheterization increases the mean flow resistance in the arterial blood flow and many other complications are associated with the presence of catheter in the artery. Effects of catheter in stenosed artery can be estimated non-invasively by means of hemo-dynamic indicator-WSS, WSSG, volume flow rate and impedance. The effect of slip at the arterial wall, inclination of the artery and magnetic field on the hemodynamic indicators and flow profiles are computed, presented and discussed through graphs.

Diabetes has become a major concern nowadays and its complications are affecting various organs of a diabetic patient. Therefore, a multi-dimensional technique including all parameters is required to detect the cause, its proper diagnostic procedure and its prevention. In this present work, a technique has been introduced that seeks to build an implementation for the intelligence system based on neural networks. Moreover, it has been described that how the proposed technique can be used to determine the membership together with the non-membership functions in the intuitionistic environment. The dataset has been obtained from Pima Indians Diabetes Database (PIDD). In this work, a complete diagnostic procedure of diabetes has been introduced with seven layered structural frameworks of an Intuitionistic Neuro Sugeno Fuzzy System (INSFS). The first layer is the input, in which six factors have been taken as an input variable. Subsequently, a neural network framework has been developed by constructing IFN for all the six input variables, and then this input has been fuzzified by using triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. In this work, we have introduced a novel optimization technique for the parameters involved in the INSFS. Moreover, an inference system has also been framed for the neural network known as INFS. The results have also been given in the form of tables, which describe each concluding factor.

Identification of SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein Inhibitors from Urtica dioica to Develop Herbal-Based Therapeutics Against COVID-19

Objective: The high transmission rate and mutations of SARS-Co V-2 have made it a global pandemic, and the shortage of any effective clinical treatment has created such a commotion. There are some synthetic antiviral drugs, such as remdesivir and lopinavir that are being repurposed to treat SARS-Co V-2, but all of these demonstrate extreme side effects in humans. Hence, promoting herbal-based drug development has become crucial as they are cost-effective and have lesser or no side effects. Urtica dioica is abundant in the Himalayan region and the compounds present in it have shown significant antiviral and anti-SARS activity. Therefore, molecular docking studies were performed to identify SARS-Co V-2 spike protein inhibitors from U. dioica to combat the COVID-19 disease. Materials and Methods: Compounds from U. dioica were screened using the bioinformatic approach, and subsequently, these compounds were docked with the S1 subunit of the COVID-19 spike protein(PDB ID: 6YOR). Molecular docking was carried out using the Py Rx software(0.8 version) and further examined by employing the Discovery Studio Visualizer. Results: About all the selected compounds showed significant binding energy(e.g., beta-sitosterol:-10.3 kcal/mol) in contrast to the control chloroquine phosphate. This binding was observed with the spike protein residues that were common in the old strain and the more contagious newly modified B.1.1.7 strain of SARS-Co V-2. Conclusions: Thus, our study can be used in effective drug development against SARS-Co V-2 and its mutant strains also.

A 45-year-old female with known situs inversus totalis presented with left-sided abdominal discomfort. Chest X-ray, abdominal ultrasonography and CT scan confirmed the diagnosis of a gallstone, as well as, situs inversus;Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was safely performed with mirror image of standard 4 ports. Callots triangle dissection was done with epigastric working port by surgeon, but gallbladder fossa dissection was done by surgical assistant from midclavicular port as main working port. Laparoscopic surgeon should be careful for view of reversed relationships and also for existence of other anomalies.

A series of Er^(3+)ions doped lithium lead alumino borate(LiPbAlB)glasses were synthesized via melt quench method and their structural,physical and optical properties were ***-Ofelt theory in correlation with the emission and absorption profiles was performed for the measurement of various radiative parameters for different transitions of Er^(3+)doped *** as-prepared glasses show deep green(550 nm)as well as NIR(1532 nm)emission at 380 and 980 nm excitation wavelengths,*** intensity of emission spectra increases with Er^(3+)ions concentration up to 1.5 mol%and beyond quenching is *** Dexter theory applied to the emission profiles reveals the interaction between Er^(3+)ions as dipole-dipole in *** color coordinates are found to fall in the green region of the visible *** is observed that 1.5 mol%of Er^(3+)ions concentration is optimum to exhibit the maximum quantum efficiency,branching ratios,gain bandwidth,emission cross-section,gain crosssection and aptly suitable for visible and NIR photonic applications.
