Urethrocutaneous fistula may complicate hypospadias *** noticed that double-layered preputial dartos flaps added to tubularized incised plate urethroplasty can reduce the risk of urethrocutaneous *** aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with double-layered preputial dartos flaps to with single-layered local fascial flaps in preventing urethrocutaneous fistula.A retrospective cohort study was conducted between January 2017 and December 2020 at Jordan University Hospital(Amman,Jordan).Boys who were aged between 6 months and 5 years,diagnosed with distal hypospadias,and not circumcised were *** primary outcome was the occurrence of urethrocutaneous fistula in patients who underwent tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with a double-layered fascial *** results showed a total of 163 boys with distal hypospadias;among them,116 patients underwent tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with a single-layered fascial flap,and 47 underwent tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with a double-layered fascial *** development of urethrocutaneous fistula was higher in the group receiving tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with a single-layered fascial flap than in the group receiving tubularized incised plate urethroplasty with a double-layered fascial flap after 1 month,6 months,and 12 months(6.9%vs 0,10.3%vs 0,and 5.2%vs 0,respectively),and the difference after 6 months was statistically significant(P=0.02).

Rigid contact lens fitting based on keratometry readings in keratoconus patients:predicting formula

AIM:To find a simple mathematical correlation between the lens base curve(BC) and keratometry findings(krf).METHODS:This retrospective study included 400 keratoconic eyes(350 patients) previously fit with rigid contact lenses at an academic eye center over a five year *** patients were classified into five groups based on the keratometry findings(krf8,krf-krs(difference between two keratometry;flat and steep)= 0.3-0.6,krf-krs >0.6mm as groups 1 to 5,*** linear regression and Munro’s correlation coefficient were employed to defer the ***:A linear correlation could be found in all groups except for patients in group *** group 1,BC=0.211×krf+ *** group 2,BC=0.456×krf+*** group 4,BC= 0.321×krf+*** group 5,BC=0.337×krf+ ***:The development of new formulas for RGP fitting enables ophthalmologists to work with confidence and prevents unnecessary and frequent lens *** customary lens fitting methods are needed to be replaced by new formulas,which help to save time and costs.

Isolated ventral congenital penile curvature treated by incisionless plication of tunica albuginea in adults:A prospective case series

Background:Numerous surgical techniques are available for the correction of isolated ventral congenital penile curvature(IVCPC).This study aimed to assess the outcomes and predictors of IVCPC treatment in adults using an incisionless plication *** and methods:This prospective case series examined patients with IVCPC who were treated in our hospital between October 2017 and February 2020 using incisionless plication of the tunica albuginea(Essed-Schroeder technique)with a covering pair of absorbable *** primary outcomes were successful correction(defined as a residual curvature≤15 degrees)and patient *** follow-ups were performed at 3,6,and 12 ***:A total of 23 patients were treated for IVCPC with a mean(range)age of 25.3(18-31)*** patients(78.3%)were single with cosmetic complaints,whereas the other 5 patients(21.7%)were married and presented with a difficult vaginal *** mean(range)curvature,length,and operative time were 40(30-50)degrees,15(10-19)cm,and 82(65-100)minutes,*** penile pain and numbness occurred in 13 patients(56.5%)and 7 patients(30.4%)only within the first month,*** suture knots were reported in 15 patients(65.5%)without being bothersome up to 12 *** postoperative means(ranges)of penile curvature and length were significantly different from that of the preoperative values at 3(5[0-20]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm),6(5[0-20]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm),and 12 months(5[0-30]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm;all p<0.001).Age,preoperative penile curvature,penile length,postoperative pain,wound infections,and knot palpation insignificantly affected curvature *** patients(73.9%)were very satisfied with their surgical ***:Incisionless plication of the tunica albuginea is effective and safe for the correction of IVCPC in adults with high success and patient satisfaction rates.

Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Magnetic Field Effect on Electrically Conducting Fluid at Inclined Angles in Rayleigh-Bénard Convection

The magneto-hydrodynamics(MHD)effect is studied at different inclined angles in Rayleigh-Bénard(RB)convection inside a rectangular enclosure using the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM).The enclosure is filled with electrically conducting fluids of different *** characteristics are defined by Prandtl number,*** considered Pr values for this study are 10 and *** influence of other dimensionless parameters Rayleigh numbers Ra=10^(3);10^(4);10^(5);10^(6) and Hartmann numbers Ha=0,10,25,50,100,on fluid flow and heat transfer,are also investigated considering different inclined anglesφof magnetic field by analyzing computed local Nusselt numbers and average Nusselt *** results of the study show the undoubted prediction capability of LBM for the current *** simulated results demonstrate that the augmentation in heat transfer is directly related to Ra values,but it is opposite while observing the characteristics of Ha ***,it is also found thatφhas a significant impact on heat transfer for different ***,isotherms are found to be always parallel to the horizontal axis at Ra=10^(3) as conduction overcomes the convection in the heat transfer,but this behaviour is not seen at Ra=10^(4) when Ha>***,at Ra=10^(6),oscillatory instability appears but LBM is still able to provide a complete map of this predicted beha*** appropriate validation with previous numerical studies demonstrates the accuracy of the present approach.

Performance Analysis of a Vertical Axis Tidal Turbine With Flexible Blades

In this study, a vertical axis tidal turbine with flexible blades is investigated. The focus is on analyzing the effect of flexible airfoils types and blade flexibility on turbine net output power. To this end, five different flexible airfoils （Symmetric and Non-symmetric） are employed. The results show that the use of a thick flexible symmetric airfoil can effectively increase output power compared to that achievable with a conventional rigid blade. Moreover, the use of highly flexible blades, as opposed to less flexible or rigid blades, is not recommended.

Knowledge Transfer and Management Consulting:The Effect of Consultant and Client Characteristics

Knowledge transfer(KT)from the consultant to the client is an important area that needs to be repeatedly addressed and thoroughly *** aim of this research was to examine the assumption that client characteristics and consultant competencies play a defining role in the effective transfer of knowledge to the client *** authors examined the critical aspects and competencies required of the consultant,and the characteristics and attitudes required of the client,which would contribute to a successful transfer of knowledge,through unstructured in-depth interviews and concise *** consulting assignments were studied from both the client side and the consultant side.A conceptual model is presented,factor analysis was used to validate the constructs,and partial least squares were used to test the *** findings showed that the consultants’professionalism,skills,and behavior were significant contributors to KT to the ***,neither the consultant knowledge nor client characteristics had any significance to the KT to the client.

Predictors of time-to-nadir serum creatinine after drainage of bilaterally obstructed kidneys due to bladder cancer

Background:There are persistent controversies about the outcomes and benefits of drainage of malignant ureteral obstruction by percutaneous nephrostomy(PCN).This study aimed to assess the predictors of the time-to-nadir(TTN)of serum creatinine(SCr)levels after drainage of bilaterally obstructed kidneys(BOKs)due to bladder cancer(BC)by *** and methods:This prospective nonrandomized study included patients with BOKs due to BC treated by PCN between April 2019 and March *** primary outcome measure was ***:Of the 55 patients with a median age(range)of 66 years(47-86 years),32(58.2%)had a normal nadir SCr and 23(41.8%)had a high nadir SCr within 21 days after drainage of BOKs due to *** nadir SCr was associated with a higher mean age(p=0.011)and lower body mass index(BMI,p=0.043).However,patients with normal nadir SCr had a significantly shorter TTN(p=0.023)and an increased mean SCr trajectory(p<0.001)during *** multivariate analysis,low urine output at presentation(p=0.021)and high BMI(p=0.006)were associated with longer ***,the mean parenchymal thickness(p=0.428)and laterality of drainage(p=0.466)were not associated with the mean TTN and SCr normalization *** to the modified Clavien-Dindo classification,8 cases of hematuria were managed conservatively(grade 2),and 2 cases of PCN slippage were repositioned using local anesthesia(grade 3).Conclusions:Despite the safety of PCN for drainage of BOKs due to BC,more than 41%of the patients failed to have a normal nadir *** low urine output and high BMI were associated with longer *** of drainage had no significant effects on the TTN and SCr trajectory.
