Himalayan glaciers are shrinking rapidly,especially after *** shrinkage,however,shows a differential pattern in space and time,emphasizing the need to monitor and assess glacier changes at a larger *** this study,changes of 48 glaciers situated around the twin peaks of the Nun and Kun mountains in the northwestern Himalaya,hereafter referred to as Nun-Kun Group of Glaciers(NKGG),were investigated using Landsat satellite data during *** in glacier area,snout position,Equilibrium Line Altitude(ELA),surface thickness and glacier velocity were assessed using remote sensing data supplemented by field *** study revealed that the NKGG glaciers have experienced a recession of 4.5%±3.4%and their snouts have retreated at the rate of 6.4±1.6 m·a^(-1).Additionally,there was a 41%increase observed in the debris cover area during the observation *** the geodetic approach,an average glacier elevation change of-1.4±0.4 m·a^(-1)was observed between 2000 and *** observed mass loss of the NKGG has resulted in the deceleration of glacier velocity from 27.0±3.7 m·a^(-1)in 2000 to 21.2±2.2 m·a^(-1)in *** ELA has shifted upwards by 83.0±22 m during the *** morphological and topographic factors showed a strong influence on glacier ***,a higher recession of 12.9%±3.2%was observed in small glaciers,compared to 2.7%±3.1%in larger *** debris-covered glaciers showed lower shrinkage(2.8%±1.1%)compared to the clean glaciers(9.3%±5%).The glacier depletion recorded in the NKGG during the last two decades,if continued,would severely diminish glacial volume and capacity to store water,thus jeopardizing the sustainability of water resources in the basin.

孟加拉国是南亚的一个小国,位于北回归线以南,世界最高山脉——喜马拉雅山脉脚下。孟加拉国是一个地势较低的平原国家,内陆水资源极其丰富,其中包括世界上一些较大的河流。农业是孟加拉国经济生产部门中最大的单一部门,其对GDP的贡献率达到了20.24%,且占据了全国48.1%的劳动力人口。水稻是孟加拉国人民最主要的主粮,其种植面积占所有作物种植面积的77.07%(BBS,2013)。稻米在全部谷类食物供应中的比例为96%。另一方面,孟加拉国是最易自然灾害如洪涝等灾害的国家。洪涝能对农作物尤其是水稻造成毁灭性的灾害。由于气候(降水)的变化以及一些极端气候事件,如降雨量、降雨方式的变化能影响洪涝的发生,直接影响了孟加拉国的水稻生产,从而导致粮食安全危机。当前面临的主要挑战之一是保障粮食安全,同时,产量以及最大化利用有限水资源来满足需求的粮食利用率也是也是孟加拉国面临的一个严峻挑战。本研究基于次级资料进行分析,以期找出降雨量与洪涝的直接关系。利用Rclim Dex1.0软件对10项指标数据进行计算,再利用XLSTAT(2015)软件对计算的数据进行mann-kendall测验,以确定降雨量和洪涝之间的趋势走向。本研究调查了水稻生产的长期变化,并试图揭示水稻栽培与水文环境之间的联系。在洪涝灾害发生严重的年份,洪涝对水稻生产的影响是显而易见的。在重大洪涝灾害过后的年份,Aman水稻生产通常会严重损失,但Boro作物的产量会增加。本研究还调查了水稻生长期降雨方式的变化以及需水量对水稻产量的影响。除了北部外,所有地区的Aus水稻在育秧准备时就已没有足够的降雨且呈递减趋势。在Aman水稻产量形成和成熟阶段,降雨量少于实际需水量且所有地区均呈递减趋势。在Boro季节,除了北部、西北、东部和南部地区一月时的营养生长阶段,所有地区和阶段的降雨量均呈减势,此比率并不是很高,这表明Boro水稻种植对人工灌溉的依赖性将会增加。本文针对易受灾害的水稻种植区进行了研究,发现Aus、Aman和Boro易受干旱灾害的地区分别是西北地区、北部和西北地区、及西南地区,而易受洪涝灾害的地区分别是东南地区、东南地区和东部地区。国家平均降雨量在近30年呈下降的趋势,即使谷值2500 mm的降雨量但依然呈递减趋势。降雨量的极值是Rx1天、Rx5天、R(44～88)mm和R(88+)mm,都是由于洪涝而产生的。Rx1在中部和南部地区呈增长趋势,但Rx5天除了东部地区外所有地区都增加。另一方面,R(44～88)mm在南部和西南地区增加,而R(88+)mm除了东部和北部外都增加。在4个事件中,4事件在任何地区都没有增加,但3事件在中南、东南和西南都增加,这表明极端洪涝灾害在沿海地区有所增加。此外,4个事件在东部地区减少意味着洪涝在东部地区有所减弱,而4个事件中也有3个事件在北部地区有所减少。在不久的将来,北部地区将遭受干旱。本研究是在分析历史资料后气候参数长期趋势分析的第一步,我们发现孟加拉国的极端降雨事件在未来有一系列的变化。因降雨量在孟加拉国是一个重要因素,虽然本研究有一定的局限性,然而调查结果对于孟加拉国的一些利益相关者,尤其是农业组织、灾害管理部门及发展和规划组织也具有一定的参考价值。

Acute Kidney Injury: Treatment with Unani Medicine—Case Report

A male named Anwer Jamal, age 45 years, married, visited Clinic Rafaheaam Dawakhana Ajmali on March 29, 2013, with history of glomerulonephritis, inherited renal diseases, hypertension and previously hooked on voltaren 50 (Diclofenic Sodium, 50 mg) and was not on dialysis. Different diagnostic parameters showed the patient was suffering from acute renal failure according to the RIFLE criteria. AKI is life threatening when kidneys suddenly is unable to filter waste products from blood. The patient was treated and managed with herbal medicines according to Unani system of medicine. Reversal of the parameter such as serum creatinine from 7.90 mg/dl (6.58 fold high) to 0.81mg/dl within two weeks clearly shows the remarkable recovery in a short period of time. During this period the other related parameters e.g. blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum albumin, albuminuria, blood pressure were also normalized whereas clinical sign and symptom exhibited improvement.

A female infant, named Anum 1.8 kg was born on 9th August 2007 at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) with a big head, Occipitofrontal Circumference (OFC) 36 cm. She was admitted on 29th August 2007 and was discharged on 5th September 2007 from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre after the management of moderate birth asphyxia. Cranial ultrasound revealed moderate Hydrocephalus (symmetrical) with prominent third ventricle. Treatment and its effectiveness have been discussed.

We report novel gold nanoparticles by green method for different fruit extracts have gaining greater attention due to its versatile properties in different applications. In this article, GNPs synthesis is demonstrated successfully using fresh fruit extract of punica granatum and fragaria. The optical properties, morphology and elemental analysis of samples was done by using) different characterization techniques like SEM EDX and UV-Visible spectroscopy Biocompatibility of GNPs was determined by ALT, AST, ALP, Urea, Creatinine tests and also to investigate the effects of prepared GNPs on the kidney and liver functions. The GNPs prepared by fruit extract of punica granatum have more effects on the rabbits than GNPs prepared from fragaria but this effect normalizes after three days which shows its biocompatibility. To explore the photocatalytic activity of the GNPs the photocatalytic degradation of MB dye is also investigated. The results revealed that GNPs prepared through green synthesis route are found to be efficient enhancement in the degradation of MB dye in visible region due to large surface area. These particles were more active in catalytic reduction due to their high surface energy and in bio-medical applications as biocompatibility.

In this study the pseudo-potential method is used to investigate the structural, electronic, and thermodynamic proper- ties of ZnOl_xSx semiconductor materials. The results show that the electronic properties are found to be improved when calculated by using LDA ~ U functional as compared with local density approximation （LDA）. At various concentrations the ground-state properties are determined for bulk materials ZnO, ZnS, and their tertiary alloys in cubic zinc-blende phase. From the results, a minor difference is observed between the lattice parameters from Vegard＇s law and other calculated results, which may be due to the large mismatch between lattice parameters of binary compounds ZnO and ZnS. A small deviation in the bulk modulus from linear concentration dependence is also observed for each of these alloys. The ther- modynamic properties, including the phonon contribution to Helmholtz free energy △F, phonon contribution to internal energy △E, and specific iheat at constant-volume Cv, are calculated within quasi-harmonic approximation based on the calculated phonon dispersion relations.

The plane wave pseudo-potential method was used to investigate the structural, electronic, and elastic properties of Cd Se_（1-x）Te_x in the zinc blende phase. It is observed that the electronic properties are improved considerably by using LDA ＋ U as compared to the LDA approach. The calculated lattice constants and bulk moduli are also comparable to the experimental results. The cohesive energies for pure Cd Se and Cd Te binary and their mixed alloys are calculated. The second-order elastic constants are also calculated by the Lagrangian theory of elasticity. The elastic properties show that the studied material has a ductile nature.

First-principles calculations by means of the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method using the generalized gradient approximation with correlation effect correction（GGA＋U） within the framework of spin polarized density functional theory（DFT＋U） are used to study the structural,electronic,and magnetic properties of cubic perovskite compounds RbXF3（X = Mn,V,Co,and Fe）.It is found that the calculated structural parameters,i.e.,lattice constant,bulk modulus,and its pressure derivative are in good agreement with the previous *** results reveal that the strong spin polarization of the 3d states of the X atoms is the origin of ferromagnetism in *** energies and the magnetic moments of RbXF3 have also been *** calculated electronic properties show the half-metallic nature of RbCoF3 and RbFeF3,making these materials suitable for spintronic applications.
