Artificial Intelligence(AI)is being increasingly used for diagnosing Vision-Threatening Diabetic Retinopathy(VTDR),which is a leading cause of visual impairment and blindness worldwide.However,previous automated VTDR detection methods have mainly relied on manual feature extraction and classification,leading to errors.This paper proposes a novel VTDR detection and classification model that combines different models through majority voting.Our proposed methodology involves preprocessing,data augmentation,feature extraction,and classification stages.We use a hybrid convolutional neural network-singular value decomposition(CNN-SVD)model for feature extraction and selection and an improved SVM-RBF with a Decision Tree(DT)and K-Nearest Neighbor(KNN)for classification.We tested our model on the IDRiD dataset and achieved an accuracy of 98.06%,a sensitivity of 83.67%,and a specificity of 100%for DR detection and evaluation tests,respectively.Our proposed approach outperforms baseline techniques and provides a more robust and accurate method for VTDR detection.

Clinical outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 in liver transplant recipients

BACKGROUND Liver transplant patients are at higher risk of infection due to immunosuppression.Whether liver transplant recipients are also more susceptible to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and will have worse outcomes than the general population if they develop coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)due to SARS-CoV-2 is a topic of ongoing studies,including ours.AIM To assess the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 in liver transplant recipients.METHODS This was a case-control study,with a database search performed(at the study site)from March 1,2020 through February 28,2021.Patients 18 years or older who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 via polymerase chain reaction(PCR)were included in the study.Patients with infection other than pneumonia at the time of admission were excluded.After selection,patients who had been the recipient of liver transplant were considered cases and those without as controls.After being matched by age,sex,and obesity,two controls were randomly selected for each case.Death and hospitalization due to COVID-19 infection were the primary outcomes.Secondary outcomes were pertinent only to patients who were hospitalized,and they included duration of hospital stay,need for supplemental oxygen,presence of at least one type of end-organ damage,effects on liver enzymes,incidence of acute liver failure,effect on d-dimer levels,and incidence of venous thromboembolism(VTE).Chi-square or Fisher’s exact test was used to compare all primary and secondary outcomes with the exception of duration of hospital stay and d-dimer levels,which were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.Alpha criterion was set at 0.05.Logistic regression was performed for each primary outcome(as the dependent variable).Statistical analyses were performed using R software.RESULTS Of the 470 Liver transplant recipients who were tested for COVID-19 via the PCR test,39 patients tested positive(8.3%).There was no significant difference between cases and controls regarding death[odds ratio(OR):2.04,95%confidence

Bandgap tuning using rare earth metals as dopants in ferrite-based photocatalytic materials has received a lot of interest because the Fermi 4f energy of these metals generates a sub-energy state in the bandgap generated by the overlapping of Fe-3d and O-2p orbitals.Herein,dysprosium-doped cobalt-nickel mixed ferrite(D-CNFO)and its graphene-reinforced composite(D-CNFO@G)were prepared and an ideal photocatalyst material for azo dye mineralization was proposed.A cost-effective combination of wetchemical and ultrasonication methods was used to prepare the doped and composite samples.Advanced characterization methodologies were used to scrutinize the optical,compositional,structural,morphological,and photocatalytic characteristics of as-prepared materials.The X-ray diffraction analysis identified the spinel phase's(cubic)structure,while the electronic spectroscopy examination confirmed the prepared samples'rod-like morphology.The UV/visible absorbance spectrum shows the higher light harvesting behavior of the D-CNFO@G in the visible region.The mineralization performance of the DCNFO and D-CNFO@G composites was analyzed using Congo-red(an anionic dye),a well-known azo dye.The D-CNFO@G sample removes Congo-red dye at a rate almost 2.4%faster than the D-CNFO sample.The experiment involving trapping free radicals indicates that hydroxyl radical play s a crucial role in dye degradation.Since the D-CNFO@G catalyst is magnetic and can be isolated easily from the photocatalytic system,it shows an awkward cycle activity of more than 96%after five mineralization tests.The asprepared D-CNFO@G composite is proved as an excellent option for azo dye mineralization because of the combined impacts of rare earth doping,graphene reinforcement and nanotechnology.

Smart and interconnected devices can generate meaningful patient data and exchange it automatically without any human intervention in order to realize the Internet of Things(IoT)in healthcare(HIoT).Due to more and more online security and data hijacking attacks,the confidentiality,integrity and availability of data are considered serious issues in HIoT applications.In this regard,lightweight block ciphers(LBCs)are promising in resourceconstrained environment where security is the primary consideration.The prevalent challenge while designing an LBC for the HIoT environment is how to ascertain platform performance,cost,and security.Most of the existing LBCs primarily focus on text data or grayscale images.The main focus of this paper is about securing color images in a cost-effective way.We emphasis high confidentiality of color images captured by cameras in resource-constrained smartphones,and high confidentiality of sensitive images transmitted by low-power sensors in IoT systems.In order to reduce computational complexity and simulation time,the proposed Lightweight Symmetric Block Cipher(LSBC)exploits chaos-based confusion-diffusion operations at the inter-block level using a single round.The strength of LSBC is assessed by cryptanalysis,while it is ranked by comparing it to other privacy-preserving schemes.Our results show that the proposed cipher produces promising results in terms of key sensitivity and differential attacks,which proves that our LSBC is a good candidate for image security in HIoT.

A graph invariant is a number that can be easily and uniquely calculated through a graph.Recently,part of mathematical graph invariants has been portrayed and utilized for relationship examination.Nevertheless,no reliable appraisal has been embraced to pick,how much these invariants are associated with a network graph in interconnection networks of various fields of computer science,physics,and chemistry.In this paper,the study talks about sudoku networks will be networks of fractal nature having some applications in computer science like sudoku puzzle game,intelligent systems,Local area network(LAN)development and parallel processors interconnections,music composition creation,physics like power generation interconnections,Photovoltaic(PV)cells and chemistry,synthesis of chemical compounds.These networks are generally utilized in disorder,fractals,recursive groupings,and complex frameworks.Our outcomes are the normal speculations of currently accessible outcomes for specific classes of such kinds of networks of two unmistakable sorts with two invariants K-banhatti sombor(KBSO)invariants,Irregularity sombor(ISO)index,Contraharmonic-quadratic invariants(CQIs)and dharwad invariants with their reduced forms.The study solved the Sudoku network used in mentioned systems to improve the performance and find irregularities present in them.The calculated outcomes can be utilized for the modeling,scalability,introduction of new architectures of sudoku puzzle games,intelligent systems,PV cells,interconnection networks,chemical compounds,and extremely huge scope in very large-scale integrated circuits(VLSI)of processors.

Regulatory Genes Through Robust-SNR for Binary Classification Within Functional Genomics Experiments

The current study proposes a novel technique for feature selection by inculcating robustness in the conventional Signal to noise Ratio(SNR).The proposed method utilizes the robust measures of location i.e.,the“Median”as well as the measures of variation i.e.,“Median absolute deviation(MAD)and Interquartile range(IQR)”in the SNR.By this way,two independent robust signal-to-noise ratios have been proposed.The proposed method selects the most informative genes/features by combining the minimum subset of genes or features obtained via the greedy search approach with top-ranked genes selected through the robust signal-to-noise ratio(RSNR).The results obtained via the proposed method are compared with wellknown gene/feature selection methods on the basis of performance metric i.e.,classification error rate.A total of 5 gene expression datasets have been used in this study.Different subsets of informative genes are selected by the proposed and all the other methods included in the study,and their efficacy in terms of classification is investigated by using the classifier models such as support vector machine(SVM),Random forest(RF)and k-nearest neighbors(k-NN).The results of the analysis reveal that the proposed method(RSNR)produces minimum error rates than all the other competing feature selection methods in majority of the cases.For further assessment of the method,a detailed simulation study is also conducted.

Internet-of-Things(IoT)has attained a major share in embedded software development.The new era of specialized intelligent systems requires adaptation of customized software engineering approaches.Currently,software engineering has merged the development phases with the technologies provided by industrial automation.The improvements are still required in testing phase for the software developed to IoT solutions.This research aims to assist in developing the testing strategies for IoT applications,therein ontology has been adopted as a knowledge representation technique to different software engineering processes.The proposed ontological model renders 101 methodology by using Protégé.After completion,the ontology was evaluated in three-dimensional view by the domain experts of software testing,IoT and ontology engineering.Satisfied results of the research are showed in interest of the specialists regarding proposed ontology development and suggestions for improvements.The Proposed reasoning-based ontological model for development of testing strategies in IoT application contributes to increase the general understanding of tests in addition to assisting for the development of testing strategies for different IoT devices.

Risk stratification of patients who present with chest pain and have normal troponins using a machine learning model

BACKGROUND Risk stratification tools exist for patients presenting with chest pain to the emergency room and have achieved the recommended negative predictive value(NPV)of 99%.However,due to low positive predictive value(PPV),current stratification tools result in unwarranted investigations such as serial laboratory tests and cardiac stress tests(CSTs).AIM To create a machine learning model(MLM)for risk stratification of chest pain with a better PPV.METHODS This retrospective cohort study used de-identified hospital data from January 2016 until November 2021.Inclusion criteria were patients aged>21 years who presented to the ER,had at least two serum troponins measured,were subsequently admitted to the hospital,and had a CST within 4 d of presentation.Exclusion criteria were elevated troponin value(>0.05 ng/mL)and missing values for body mass index.The primary outcome was abnormal CST.Demographics,coronary artery disease(CAD)history,hypertension,hyperlipidemia,diabetes mellitus,chronic kidney disease,obesity,and smoking were evaluated as potential risk factors for abnormal CST.Patients were also categorized into a high-risk group(CAD history or more than two risk factors)and a low-risk group(all other patients)for comparison.Bivariate analysis was performed using a χ^(2) test or Fisher’s exact test.Age was compared by t test.Binomial regression(BR),random forest,and XGBoost MLMs were used for prediction.Bootstrapping was used for the internal validation of prediction models.BR was also used for inference.Alpha criterion was set at 0.05 for all statistical tests.R software was used for statistical analysis.RESULTS The final cohort of the study included 2328 patients,of which 245(10.52%)patients had abnormal CST.When adjusted for covariates in the BR model,male sex[risk ratio(RR)=1.52,95%confidence interval(CI):1.2-1.94,P<0.001],CAD history(RR=4.46,95%CI:3.08-6.72,P<0.001),and hyperlipidemia(RR=3.87,95%CI:2.12-8.12,P<0.001)remained statistically significant.Incidence of abnormal CST was 12.2%in the high-risk group

Farming is cultivating the soil,producing crops,and keeping livestock.The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in a country’s economic growth.This research proposes a two-stage machine learning framework for agriculture to improve efficiency and increase crop yield.In the first stage,machine learning algorithms generate data for extensive and far-flung agricultural areas and forecast crops.The recommended crops are based on various factors such as weather conditions,soil analysis,and the amount of fertilizers and pesticides required.In the second stage,a transfer learningbased model for plant seedlings,pests,and plant leaf disease datasets is used to detect weeds,pesticides,and diseases in the crop.The proposed model achieved an average accuracy of 95%,97%,and 98% in plant seedlings,pests,and plant leaf disease detection,respectively.The system can help farmers pinpoint the precise measures required at the right time to increase yields.

Ontology-Based News Linking for Semantic Temporal Queries

Daily newspapers publish a tremendous amount of information disseminated through the Internet.Freely available and easily accessible large online repositories are not indexed and are in an un-processable format.The major hindrance in developing and evaluating existing/new monolingual text in an image is that it is not linked and indexed.There is no method to reuse the online news images because of the unavailability of standardized benchmark corpora,especially for South Asian languages.The corpus is a vital resource for developing and evaluating text in an image to reuse local news systems in general and specifically for the Urdu language.Lack of indexing,primarily semantic indexing of the daily news items,makes news items impracticable for any querying.Moreover,the most straightforward search facility does not support these unindexed news resources.Our study addresses this gap by associating and marking the newspaper images with one of the widely spoken but under-resourced languages,i.e.,Urdu.The present work proposed a method to build a benchmark corpus of news in image form by introducing a web crawler.The corpus is then semantically linked and annotated with daily news items.Two techniques are proposed for image annotation,free annotation and fixed cross examination annotation.The second technique got higher accuracy.Build news ontology in protégéusing OntologyWeb Language(OWL)language and indexed the annotations under it.The application is also built and linked with protégéso that the readers and journalists have an interface to query the news items directly.Similarly,news items linked together will provide complete coverage and bring together different opinions at a single location for readers to do the analysis themselves.
